Learn more about enchanting in the BFA Enchanting Guide
In this quest series, you assist Sef Iwen, a Thornspeaker. Ulfar, the last of the Drust Thornspeakers, teaches the inhabitants of Kul Tiras who wish to learn the ancient ways, which paves the way for Kul Tiras Allied Race Druids. Ulfar explains that life and death are different parts of the cycle of nature. The Thornspeakers have also split from the rest of the Drust, and we learn that Sef Iwen was punished for preferring peace over following Gorak Tul to war.
Quest Overview
In
Il sapere dei Drust
, you disenchant a Drust relic to learn more about it.
Ahoy, <name>! If you have a moment, I could use your assistance. I've recently received a large shipment of Drust relics that I've been processing. Most of them have been nothing out of the ordinary, but there is this one that is special. Just holding makes my hair stand on end. With you being my best pupil, I was thinking that it would be fun if we disenchanted it together, to see how it was made. What do you say?
While this video shows the Alliance version, the Horde version is quite similar, also dealing with the Drust:
Bal'a dash, <name>. If you have a moment, I could use your assistance. I've recently received a shipment of Drust relics that were smuggled out of Kul Tiras. Most have our usual enchantments, but there is one that is unique. Most of them have been nothing out of the ordinary, but there is this one that is special. Just holding makes my hair stand on end. With you being my best pupil, I was thinking that it would be enlightening if we disenchanted it together, to see how it was made. What do you say.
We start to disenchant the relic:
Emily Fairweather: Remember to go slow. Controlled. We don't want to turn this thing to dust until after we learn how they managed to make this enchantment so strong.
Emily Fairweather: Fascinating! The enchantments aren't just layered, they're interwoven! I've never seen anything like this before. Let's see if we can separate them just a bit more.
Emily Fairweather: The complexity behind these enchantments are amazing. There's no way that a single person could have - Whoa. That surge of power. I'm having trouble-
Emily Fairweather: *groan* I'm losing it!
Emily Fairweather: I CAN'T HOLD IT MUCH LONGER!
I'm sorry. I didn't think that enchantment would be so complex. I thought I could maintain the incantation.
<Emily looks at the pile of dust that was the relic and sighs.>
I guess that's it. With the relic destroyed the technique behind its construction is lost.
A shame, really., It's not often that I'm left dumbfounded by another enchanter.
In
Una voce nel vento
, you will seek out a mysterious voice in Drustvar.
<A distant, mysterious voice fills your mind> My enchantments are not lost... Find me... Drustvar... Fallhaven..
When you go to Drustvar, you find the spirit of Sef Iwen, standing next to the corpse of an animal in the forest:
Sef Iwen: Don't worry, friend. You will be avenged just as soon as I get my new body. Ugh, why aren't they here yet?
She turns and talks to you:
Be at ease, friend. I don't want to hurt you. Instead, I have a proposition for you.
You see, I was a druid once and the only thing I loved more than tending to the forests and creatures within them was enchanting.
Then I was murdered and cursed to wander this peninsula, unable to cross river nor mountain so long as my body still exists.
If you destroy my old body and help me make a new one, I will teach you how I made the rod you disenchanted.
You agree to help, and get the quest
Raccogliere la legna
. First, you must collect wood, taking care not to chop down any new trees.
In order for my enchantment to work, we'll need wood from these forests. When I was alive, I would wander these woods and tend to the trees. While those trees are long gone, perhaps their seeds have heard their stories and would be willing to help me. But don't cut down any of the trees! Please! There are loggers that cut and hew without care for the wilds. Take their hard work so that they will think twice before felling another tree. Bring me as much wood as you can muster.
Next, you escort Sef Iwen to her grave in
Il sesto senso
and disable wards to trap spirits.
Much of Drust magic deals with controlling spirits. Unfortunately, to get to it, we'll need to go through this forest. There are wards in this forest designed to trap spirits who are still anchored to the material world, such as which is why I need to have my body destroyed. Until then, I'll need you to disenchant the wards we come across. Speak to me when you are ready, and I will lead you to my grave.
As you escort Sef Iwen, she reveals more about the forest and how she turned into a spirit:
Sef Iwen: I was buried near one of these trees, the ones with red leaves and white bark. Follow me.
Sef Iwen: *Sigh* These woods used to be filled with joyous spirits. But now...let me show you what I see...
Sef Iwen: Those poor souls, trapped by that ward. You should disenchant it to free them.
Sef Iwen: was alive when the mainlanders first landed on our shores. Gorak Tul was threatened by their presence and ordered raids against their villages. I wanted nothing to do with it. I was a Thornspeaker, a guardian of the wilds, and I knew that we could live in harmony if we tried.
Sef Iwen: Tul was furious. He decided to make an example of me. "You may hide in the woods forever or you can fight these invaders. Which is it?"
Sef Iwen: Thinking that he would just banish me, I chose to hide in the woods. Instead, he tore my soul from my body, leaving just enough of a connection that I couldn't stray too far from it.
Sef Iwen: The next century is foggy, as I wandered these woods, alone and afraid. All I remember is him saying that until my body is dust, I can never leave, nor rest.
After we find the grave, Sef Iwen reveals her plan in
Esumazione
. She wants to control the body of a mindless golem.
As I've said, I'm unable to interact with the material world. I am able to dominate a creature to control its body, but it is exhausting, as there is a constant fight with it's mind to maintain that control. What I want is a body of my own. If you build and animate a golem, it would be devoid of intelligence. A shell. One that I could inhabit without issue. Doing so will require that my soul is not anchored to anything else in this world, so I need you to destroy my physical remains.
After the body is burned, Sef Iwen feels different:
I feel...different.
It's like I'm in the middle of an enormous pitch black room. Not literally, but there is a sensation that there is something lurking just outside of my sight that is...unsettling.
At least I don't have to worry about the spirit traps any longer, that is nice.
Regardless, with my remains destroyed, there is nothing more for us here. Let us continue our journey south.
You then continue the journey south in
Tela per il corpo
, picking up spider silk to bind the body together.
Our destination is near Gol Koval, but there is something else you could pick up along the way. I don't want to ask because I hate them, but you cannot dispute the strength of that horrible webbing that they manage to get everywhere. <Emma grimaces at the thought.> There are spiders to the southeast. As a guardian of nature, I don't want to say kill them, but if you could... 'obtain' some of their silk, we could use it to bind the body together.
Sef Iwen reveals her distaste of spiders:
<Emma shivers in disgust.>
Blech! The thought of that being part of my body makes me regret asking.
As a druid, I was told that there is beauty in all of nature, but I still see none in those spindly legged monstrosities.
In
Procedere col piano
you must collect the final item needed--a heart. Fortunately, it's made of stone, not of flesh!
We have most the materials we need, but we require one final item. A heart. Not a real heart made of flesh! Sorry, I meant one made of stone, it will unify the materials of the body into a single form. Find a rock, and enchant it to hold a life force. It will require some reagents, but I would expect a powerful as yourself to have some on hand or know where to find them. Once that's done, it will need to be powered. The souls animating the elementals and undead here should do the trick.
With all the materials now collected, we must activate the teleportation runes to access Sef's old sanctum in
Entrare nel santuario
.
This used to be a Drust shrine. There is a series of sigils that, once invoked, will teleport us to my old sanctum. <Sef looks around somewhat confused and clears her throat.> It has been so long since I've been here, I'm having a bit of trouble remembering which sigils activated the teleportation. I hope you're feeling adventurous.
Once inside her sanctum, we can begin work on the golem in
Assemblare il corpo
:
Hmm... Everything seems untouched. We can begin construction of my new body over here. Afterwards, I'll teach you how to make my enchanting rod. <Sef smiles at you, beaming with joy.>
First, you need to arrange the wood in a humanoid form.
Now you'll need to bind the limbs together with the webbing.
Lastly, place the runic power core in place of the heart.
If everything was done right, the power core should bind and animate the golem.
We've now successfully animated the golem! However, something is wrong as the golem talks back to us.
Sef Iwen: Eh? Something is wrong.
Animated Golen: You...
Animated Golem: killed us... captured us... sought to use us as fuel...
Animated Golem: WE WILL HAVE OUR REVENGE!
You're left with no choice but to kill the hostile golem. Sef realizes that it is time for her to move on, and she does not need her body back to defend others.
<Sef looks at you, distressed and heartbroken.>
I'm...We could try again, but... I think this is a sign... You seem more than capable of defending those who need it. Maybe it's time for me to move on.
<Sef's frown turns into a half smile.>
I'm eternally grateful for what you did. I may not have a body, but because of you, I don't need one anymore.
Before I go, let me show you how I made my enchanting rod.
