In Patch 8.1.5, crafters unlock new Tools of the Trade questlines, rewarding special profession items! Today we are reviewing the Blacksmithing questline coming in Patch 8.1.5, which rewards
Marteau de forge khaz’gorien
. This item gives your crafted Blacksmithing gear a chance to never take durability loss, and to repair a piece of gear for free every hour.
Blacksmithing Questline
In
Un plan qui restera dans les annales
we collect 30 pieces of Revils Ore. The Alliance quest, shown in the video, takes you to Drustvar while the Horde version goes to Atal'Gral.
Yo, <name>, over here! You've look like you've been hammering away for a while. I can smell the flux on ya!
<Grix gives you a wide grin.>
Listen, I've got a recipe for the most amazing blacksmith hammer you've ever laid your eyes on. And I'd be willing to let it go for a bit of ore.
Revlis ore to be exact. It's a little rare, but you can find plenty of it over in Gol Koval in Drustvar. The elementals there are practically made of it.
Bring me back a haul of it, and the recipe's yours!
After completing the quest, we get the recipe--how simple! Not so fast...in
Battre le fer tant qu’il est chaud
we learn this recipe requires a special anvil.
I guess you noticed it requires a special anvil to make it. And I suppose you want to know where to find a Khaz'gorian Smithing Anvil?
Well, I don't know where you can find one, not to mention I never said you'd be able to actually craft the dang thing.
Now if you wouldn't mind, I have more of these recipes to sell.
You demand the trainer for more information:
Look, mister, there ain't no point in askin'. Ain't nobody seen one of them anvils in ages.
Just enjoy the recipe and let people think you're some legendary blacksmith.
I'm sorry, but that's not good enough. Please tell me more about the anvil.
You know, you're startin' to bother me.
If you don't let this go, you might find yourself at the wrong end of my hammer.
Your threats won't work. I know you know more, now out with it.
Apparently you're hard of hearing, so let me say this loud and clear for ya.
WHAT I KNOW ABOUT IT AIN'T GONNA MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE, NOW SCRAM, OR ELSE!
TELL ME NOW!
Whoa...easy. You're actually a lot scarier than you look.
In
Au fond du Tréfonds
, we're told to go to Deepholm to learn more about the recipe from an earthen called Ormhun.
Look, you're gonna have to travel to some place called Deepholm and find an earthen down there.
The guy who sold the recipe to me said he got it from an earthen called...Ormhun! Ormhun something.
I don't too much about that place, but maybe you can ask the locals or something where he lives.
Now if you don't mind, I have more recipes to sell.
We find the earthen, who is willing to help us:
Looking fer me, are ya? And what can old Orphan be helping a fleshy out with?
<You explain to Ormhun that you're trying to find a Khaz'gorian Smithing Anvil.>
Ha! Good luck with that! I haven't seen one of those in, oooh...centuries.
Lucky for you though, I know how ta make one. And I like the look of ya.
I suppose I could come out of retirement and help ya for one last craft. It's been so long, it'll be nice to work the forge again. Just gotta find me hammer...
In
Piliers et fracas
we collect some diaminium.
Most of the materials we'll need can be found right down here in the Deepholm.
We just need ta be discreet about it. If old Therazane catches wind of what we're up to, she might try ta put a stop ta it.
But let's not worry 'bout that. The first thing you'll need is diaminium. There are pillars that grow in the Alabaster Shelf rich with 'em.
Just use yer old blacksmithin' hammer and smash those pillars ta bits. Don't worry about breaking the diaminium. We'll meld it all back tagether.
You also collect Endurite from worms in
L’oreille au sol
:
The next reagent ya need comes from the bellies of worms that burrow through this realm.
While ya can find plenty o' worms all over, there's a certain type you'll need ta find. They're rarely seen above ground, but there are ways of coaxing 'em out.
Namely making enough racket to piss 'em off! Ha ha! When ya see 'em rumblin' around beneath ya, use this thumper to draw 'em out.
Deliver a killin' blow and get that metal from their wee bellies!
With the reagents acquired, you help Ormhun craft the hammer in
Forge titanesque
. As Ormhun gathers the final reagent, you work on hammering the ore.
The resulting anvil is beautifully crafted, and you're about to head back home when...Therazane appears and she's NOT happy to see us.
Therazane: Ormhun! What is the meaning of this?
Ormhun: Therazane, please. I didn't think it'd be that big of a problem.
Therazane: Correct. You didn't think. And now you shall answer for your crimes.
Therazane: And you, human. The audacity of you surface dwellers! Thinking you can just come here and take our secrets?!
Therazane: Well, what have you to say for yourself?!
You have no choice but to come forward and listen to Therazane in
Le choix de Therazane
.
<You explain that you meant no disrespect to Therazane or to steal their secrets.>
Interesting...
I have a wonderful idea on how to solve this issue. Would you like to hear it?
Her choice is:
Therazane: You may either choose to free your ally, the one who betrayed his people by sharing our coveted knowledge with you and faces a punishment of death...
Therazane: Or you may choose to take the anvil you created, the prize you were truly after this whole time.
Therazane: So, which will it be, fleshling? Make your choice.
Should you choose to save Ormhun:
Therazane: I had a feeling there may be a shred of virtue in you, surface dweller.
Therazane: You're free to go, Ormhun. But do not think you will go unpunished. We shall discuss the details of that later.
Ormhun: I knew you wouldn't hang me out ta dry. Thank ye for saving ma life.
Therazane: As for you, human. You have proven to value life over possessions, and I shall reward that honor. You may take the anvil as well.
Based on datamined dialogue, this is what appears when you save the anvil over Ormhun:
Typical surface dweller. Only thinking of yourself and how to further your own power.
Very well, the anvil is yours. And Ormhun shall face his punishment elsewhere.
We return back home in
Une enclume de poids
, with the anvil:
Take your anvil, and never speak of its methods of creation to anyone.
Should I find out otherwise, you may find your next visit to my realm an unpleasant one.
Why is Therazane Upset?
To the average player, Therazane's reaction may seem out-of-character, as we earn reputation with her in Cataclysm, and if we're a Shaman, recruited her to the Earthen Ring in Legion. We've done things to earn her favor, and she has no reason to be upset with us! Looking at her history with Azeroth's inhabitants though shows a darker timeline, one in which Deepholm is repeatedly attacked by our kind.
Therazane, the Stonemother, is one of the four elemental lords. While we fought Ragnaros and Al'Akir in Cataclysm, we had a friendlier experience with her, earning reputation as part of the
Therazane
faction. She has no great love for citizens of Azeroth, as she explains in
L’appel de la Pierre-Mère
, because we killed her daughter Princess Theradras and our kind joined the Twilight Hammer, which created such problems for her in Deepholm. Still, she needs our assistance to repair the World Pillar and drive the Twilight Hammer out of Deepholm.
Therazane is back in the Shaman Class Campaign in Legion, as we work hard to secure the loyalty of all the Elemental Lords to fight the Legion. In the quest series starting from
La grande Pierre-Mère
, we help her drive back another Twilight Hammer attack. Things are more dire than it seems, as well learn in
Libérer les éléments
that "the Twilight's Hammer has discovered a method of harnessing the void to subjugate even the most powerful of elementals."
When we disrupt their plans and finally confront the ringleader in
Le Maître du Crépuscule
, we learn that she's empowered by the blood of Sintharia and actually a Twilight Dragon--Zeryxia. We thought the Twilight Dragonflight was wiped out in Cataclysm between the death of Sinestra and raiding Dragon Soul, but that is not the case. We even get hints in Battle for Azeroth, through the flavor text in
Vengeur du Crépuscule
, that the Twilight Dragonflight lives in Grim Batol now--plus many more eggs could hatch, as we learn in
Écaille du Crépuscule endommagée
.
With this knowledge of Therazane's consistently-bad history with the inhabitants of Azeroth, perhaps her upset reaction is easier to understand. Usually bad things happen when humans get involved, from the death of her daughter to the constant Twilight Hammer invasions, and should the secrets of this crafted anvil fall into the wrong hands, Deepholm and her elements could be enslaved again.
