Design for this meta is dropped by Coilskar Sirens in Shadowmoon Valley.

New in patch 2.3, this design is intended to balance the change to Relentless Earthstorm Diamond as of 2.2 - that change being that the 3% increased critical damage no longer applies to spells.

I realize it doesn't state that the pattern is BoP, but can anyone confirm if this pattern will drop for anyone, or just Jewelcrafters?

I farmed 3 of these in the recent 2 hours. I was able to loot my first one with no problem, and according to the tooltip, it claims it is a BOE pattern.

I decide to help my guildmate out and get theirs too, so they invited me to a group. 30 more minutes of killing, and when I right-clicked to loot, I was able to see the Design, except it was red-colored (like you can't use / equip coloring). Closing that loot window the sparkles from the corpse disappeared, although my guildmate who was in range of the kill was able to loot it and achieve it.

I help another player as well get theirs, and it did not drop they were not on their JC character (they claimed to have farmed for hours....), I party with him on his JC toon and he gets it.

I strongly think this design is bugged or whereas the tooltip has errors. From speculation, you require the profession to be able to have this drop, and you can not get another one if you already learned it (as far as I know). I have not tried trading it to anybody yet so it could be still BOE, but very doubtful?

Farmed it for about 15 minutes during day 1 of 2.3 and got it. Requires exactly 2 blue gem equipped. The respawn rate on the siren was a bit ridiculously fast.

JC here, got mine after about 30 minutes of farming (there were a lot of people there or it would have been faster).

The best place to farm them is near Lady Shav'rar (44, 29), that small area by the fountain/brazier has 4 Sirens that can spawn relatively fast, and another two just down the hill from there.

I camped out there and grabbed each spawn with a SW:Death to pull it before anyone else. Once I was able to grab most of the Sirens it dropped fairly quickly.

Like others here, I farmed for about 4 hours on a non-JC toon without it dropping. Then I farmed for about 30 minutes on my JC toon and it dropped.

I had farmed these with a friend for about 10 minutes and had two of the patterns drop. I am a JC and my friend was not.

Problem was: I couldn't loot the second pattern after I learned the first one. :(

In all likelihood the non-bind on pickup part is likely a bug, as there are very few (if any?) other high end crafting patterns that drop from a specific mob, are rare, and aren't bind on pickup.

65 coilskar keys and no drop yet though, my jewelcrafter is sad =(

To make it clear for everyone,
-The design is BoE
-There seems to be a bug where only JC's can see it.
-Me, as a 380 JC, was able to loot it, my lock friend could not see it but I was able to trade it to him.
-I got mine after about 20 min. of farming

4th mob I killed last night dropped it. I am 275 JC (Mage) but put it up in the AH as I do not intend on using the gem on my mage at all and could use the gold :D and I do not like the requirement of "only 2 blue gems" .

3 hours+ on my non-JC toon and it never dropped for me so i got kinda pissed and read some comments here, logged my JC(healer that is) and i got it in less than 30 mins.. so guess the looting works just like other profession recipes except it's not BOP.

Dropped for me twice on patchday in 2hours. after then and lots of farming no more drop.. (1 design trained, 1 sold) Maybe that's the reason why it doesnt drop anymore?

Can any JC's confirm whether this still drops for you after you've learned the Design for yourself? I farmed up 3 of them with my JC Tankadin / Resto Druid by two box aoe grinding before learning 1 and selling the other 2. But after a couple hours of farming again I haven't got any, so not sure if it's bad luck or just no longer drops if you've already learned it.

PS. Spaces in Mac OS X rules for multi-boxing :)

Spent an hour grinding one day, nothing.

Next day, it dropped after 10 kills. Interestingly, the day before, my JC was 374. It was 375 when it dropped. I know loot is random, but eh, still makes you think.

Took me like an hour of solid killing (specced feral, no downtime).

No one else was there for more than a minute or two, I ended up with 37 of those key drops (for that quest), as well as all the other crap and some motes from the elementals I was forced to kill.

Major pain to farm cause of all the non-Sirens in the area, and it's easy to kill practically every siren spawn point. You're forced to wait around or go looking for the *one* left on the whole map.

As of patch 2.3.2(released today 1/08/08) it is now BoP. I just went and farmed it, droped from the 4th kill so it must have a really high droprate if they had to make it BoP.

Also confirmed it's BoP now. Got the BoE version shortly after it was added (around 20 kills), sold that one and now tonight went to farm it again and once more dropped only this time with the BoP message.

I can also confirm that paterns picked up before 2.3.2 did not have BoP added to them (or my lvl 1 banker would be stuck with 3 of them)

As of 2.2.3, I've killed about 30 Sirens so far and I haven't had no luck yet. I'm a 367 Jewelcrafter. Either I'm having bad luck or the drop rate has been changed.

I finally got it on the 48th kill.

it shows such a low drop rate because a ton of people kill them yet only jewelcrafters can loot it, hence the low drop rate its probably more in the 5%-10% range for a JC.

Well this recipe took longer to farm than I would have liked given the other comments :-)
Was about 30-35 kills before it dropped, didn't help that I was prot spec'd warrior....

I did 401k dmg and they have around 5.5k hp, so I had to kill 73 of them to get it, and that's with some of the others too so it prolly took me about 60-65.

Got mine after 15 kills. Wish they had put all gem designs on specific mobs like this (like they did with a lot of the enchanting recipes) so us JC'ers can farm mobs instead of the AH.

Is there a requirement of how high jc skill you must have to see the drop? I just got jc with my lock and its currently at 60/75. Can i still see the drop? Not much point in farming for it, if I can't see it...

I just farmed this up, and the recipe is definitely BoP. Though it is ambiguous with the boe design in the database (here and elsewhere), just wanted to help clear it up for anyone.

I have just looted this off my 17th Siren, that means around 6% drop rate for me.
I took around 15 minutes among other mobs like the water elementals and the defenders.

Mine dropped after about 45 minutes of farming. I must have killed about 60-70 of the Sirens, netting quite a few gray items, about two dozen Jagal Clams (remember to open the ones you get, I netted four shadow pearls and a few jagal pearls). There are also a few Adamantite deposits around the area so you get a little ore out of it too if you're lucky.

Don't lose heart if it doesn't drop right away, you'll get it eventually!

The old pattern still exists in it's original form if it was already picked up, and can be sold as usual. It's price will likely have skyrocketed however.

I have actually farmed these mobs for the recipe and i got it at almost the 100 kill mark. I was hit by one of the siren patrols while I was hearthing when i was quitting and it apparently dropped for me.

EDIT: This is BoP and only seen by Jewel Crafters.

Does this drop in raid? (i'm sure it does i guess) but we killed about 100 along with the surrounding mobs including cobras, defenders, etc etc. No drop in about 40 mins.

Okay, I was just about convinced that there was a mistake somewhere along the line and that Coilskar Sirens didn't drop this design at all. After two days of farming for it on my dangerously undergeared retribution paladin, it finally dropped! I suggest that anyone attempting to farm for this design watch a movie or listen to some music while you do it, or get yourself a friend to help, 'cause it's incredibly boring. It's also worth knowing that Coilskar Sirens like to bubble themselves which can be quite irritating, so unless you have uber DPS, you might want to keep an interrupt handy. Also; now that Wrath of the Lich King is on the horizon, you're not likely to be up against a lot of competition for the Sirens. I saw two players the entire time I was there, and both of them were doing something else. Happy hunting!

Even though this says it is not available to players anymore, it dropped for me tonight after about 35 kills. Bop of course but it dropped from the Sirens as it always has. So anyone wondering about this one go out and take some time, it is still there.
