Fine Dining: A Guide to the Food and Drink of Azeroth
No matter how you choose to level or spend your time at 85, it's a sure thing you'll be needing to eat or drink at some point. On one hand, in-game refreshments seem quite simple--they restore health and mana. But there's over 600 types of food and drink in our database. Some require specific levels, some are only sold by one vendor in the middle of nowhere, and yet others can get you completely drunk. We'll cover basic food-related things like what to use while leveling and how to complete achievements, as well as featuring some of the stranger things your character can eat.
The Basics
Here you'll learn about the basics: what to eat and drink while leveling, what quests grant food and drink, and how to easily complete related achievements.
It's Happy Hour Somewhere
: Once requiring alcoholic beverages, this now works on any drink in the game. Again, find various innkeepers and bartenders--should be an easy achievement.
Drown Your Sorrows
: Added in 4.1, you'll need to track down new beverage added in Cataclysm. Here's an easy table:

New Options in Firelands: A Guide to Gear in 4.2
Edit 7/6: Clarified info about tier as well as upgradable gear with Firestones. All VP items can be upgraded with Firestones--you 'use' the stone on an item. Source:

Edit @ 3:00PM PST: Bosses give 250 (275 with

Edit @ 2:00PM PST: Ashelia has confirmed that the new crafting recipes for boots and gloves drop from Firelands trash:

Firelands and 4.2 introduce a whole new set of epics; it's the easiest it's ever been to gear up. From raid epics to additional rep rewards, there's something for all playstyles. We've taken the basic framework of the 4.1 gear guide; this time we've skipped the blues and just compared the epics.
See how good the new loot is and also see what gear is easily obtainable before raiding right after the break!

Patch 4.2: Craftables
We thought we'd wrap the week up with a post about all of the crafted items that are available in patch 4.2. Since it's only ten days away, there's a lot of ground to cover. Overall, most professions will be happy to see a lot of lucrative items to craft are in this patch--from PvP to PvP gear, to glyphs, and even a scope!
Right now, we're unable to confirm where
some
of the epic recipes are dropping. We suspect the ones that are ilevel 378 are from the instance themselves and we can confirm the 365 ones are from the vendors. It's worth noting though that when we downed a boss last week, there were no patterns tied to its loot table, so it may just be from trash.
Regardless of their source, however, since the recipes are BoE they will be widely available to any type of crafters. It will be a lot like the BoE recipes from
Black Temple
or
Hyjal Summit
.
Update: The ilvl 339 rare-quality PvP recipes available on live for Blacksmithing, Leatherworking, and Tailoring are no longer obtainable on the 4.2 PTR. They have been upgraded to ilvl 358 Bloodthirsty PvP recipes (instead of two separate sets of PvP gear). This means that crafters who have already obtained the ilvl 339 recipes on live will find that they have automa

Patch 4.2: Two New Hunter Pets, Molten Cats, and Dungeon Journal Interface Changes
There are a couple exciting things still left on 4.2's PTR worth checking out, so we've rounded them up here. These topics include two new hunter pets (
following up from Blizzard's original eight they introduced last week
), some new vanity items including a staff that turns you into a molten cat, and a lot of Dungeon Journal changes for functionality and appearance (it's looking very good).
We'll start with the hunter pets first since a lot of you were unimpressed with the five spiders, two spectral cats, and the reskinned owl of last week. Blizzard apparently listened to the masses and decided to add two very cool new models with their own trick for taming them.
Remaining Hunter Pets
Karkin
Karkin spawns in Fireplume Peak--you'll reach him by jumping off Skitterflame's Ledge. He is a crab with a shiny metallic skin that casts a frontal fire attack from range. Again, you will have to jump between floating rocks to get in range to tame Karkin, but not too close or else you’ll be attacked.

Patch 4.2: 3D Models for Firelands' Weapons and Offhands
Back in the beginning of March,
we posted a large collection of 3D models
for weapons and offhands we had discovered through datamining. Of course, this was all before Firelands was pushed into the next patch; with that bit of news, our models got lost in the depths of the blog.
However, since we recently provided a
list of drops from Firelands
, this is a good time to check out what these items will look like in addition to knowing their stats. Although the jury's still out on the tier sets, personally we think these models are looking pretty awesome.
Update:
We have included screenshots of the models that weren't previously mentioned in our blogs.

Shifty Hands: A Guide to Picking Pockets
Pick Pocket
, for the less-agile and uninitiated, is a unique ability allowing rogues in stealth to loot special items from hostile mobs without entering combat. If done sloppily, it can aggro mobs, annoy your party members, and make you look pretty clumsy. If done correctly (and with enough bag space), you can amass a collection of unique items, and if you’re lucky, some epics inside of a lockbox. There's a lot of mundane objects in the pockets of Azeroth, but one's trash is another's treasure--you might find something amusing like a trashy novel or loaded dice.
This is a guide using Wowhead's vast database to show you every fun item you can pickpocket in World of Warcraft. Either for vanity item collections or just to send your friend something fun, this list will help you rediscover Azeroth and more.

Patch 4.2: Celestial Dragon, Nuts, Brilliant Kaliri, and Mylune's Call Preview
Vanity items and pets are fun. And if you like them, 4.2 has them in
droves
like any beefy content patch should.
To help show you some of these cool things, we threw together a quick video of the achievement pets plus an item that you get from the 4.2 dailies:
Mylune's Call
. Originally we were going to just describe the item and its effect in a post, but it's one of those you should see for yourselves hence the video. The effect is surprisingly cool and it can be yours after you complete the second stage of the dailies for a mere 2,800 gold.
The additional pets we're including are the achievement pets. 3D models don't give them justice, especially when their animations are so cool (and, in the case of one squirrel, downright silly).

Patch 4.2: Firelands Boss Loot Including Where Pureblood Fire Hawk Drops
Thanks to the Encounter Journal feature on the PTR, we now have what drops from what boss in our knowledge for
Firelands
. This is pretty awesome and it confirms things most people speculated about ilevels, including how
Ragnaros
has an elevated ilevel like
Sinestra
does from current content (as well as a mace that any Holy paladin would probably kill to have).
Crystallized Firestone
also drops from all heroic modes of bosses it seems and it is uncertain as to what this item is used for, though it could quite possibly be used to upgrade armor pieces.
A lot of people thought that
Smoldering Egg of Millagazor
would drop from a rare mob, but no, that's also our favorite Firelord. Speaking of mounts, however, it's possible that since
Flametalon of Alysrazor
isn't tied to a loot table for a boss currently that it could be from a rare mob or a random drop from doing the zone quests--which
Alysrazor
plays a role in. We'll have to wait and see.

Reputation and Daily Rewards in Patch 4.2
When a new patch hits, the first thing you want to know is where to get geared up. Besides the
Firelands
raid itself, there are two other methods in which to get gear so far. We've put the items we've uncovered earlier this week and last into separate listings so you can see how you can get gear beyond just the boss drops from a certain Firelord's new domain.
Avengers of Hyjal
Rewards
This faction will provide players with extremely good gear--if they can become famed with them, anyway. The specifics aren't out yet and all we know is that it will involve some raiding. Luckily for non-raiders, most people are speculating that it will be more like one of vanilla's reputation grinds:
Brood of Nozdormu
. Unlike the most recent raid reputation grind of
The Ashen Verdict
from Wrath of the Lich King, Brood reputation was able to be acquired without raiding up until a certain point and then up until introductory bosses until another. So if it does indeed follow this method, it wouldn't be hard to imagine the friendly or even honored rewards being obtained by people who seldom set foot in the raid instance.
It's also nice to see a lot of items besides rings making an appearance. Keep in mind that these are by no me

Get Ready for WoW's 7th Anniversary: A Guide to Collecting Tabards
With
WoW's 8th Anniversary
datamined on the PTR, it’s time to give tabards another look. If this goes live, it appears that for this year’s anniversary you can transform the appearance of your tabard, possibly into ones you’ve previously obtained. And even if this goes the way of the dance studio, it’s still a good time to brush up on available tabard options with the new achievement
Thirty Tabards
in patch 4.1.
This guide is organized by tabards that were introduced in each expansion as well as the means for obtaining them. When changing factions, many tabards will convert accordingly as we’ve noted below. Also, if you destroy some tabards (PvP, BC reputation, select achievement rewards), they can be obtained again from
Tabard Vendors
in major cities. Some rare tabards cannot be replaced and we’ve noted them as such. Other common tabards for Wrath/Cataclysm are cheap and you can simply buy them back for a few silver from their respective quartermasters.

Master Shapeshifters: A Guide to Character Disguises
Everyone’s favorite shapeshifting item is a Druid, hands down. But what if you want something a little more uncommon? Perhaps you’re looking for a fun disguise to use on boss-kill screenshots, or you’re just not that interested in trolls and would rather farm something else. How’s turning into a fish sound? A huge bug? A neon rock? Maybe you just want to be surrounded in a purple swirly shield instead? Whatever you’re interested in turning into, it probably exists in-game and we have it all laid out for you.
This guide breaks it down into playable race, creature, and object disguises, as well as items that give your character special effects. We’ve further organized these items by means of acquisition and noted some items that work while mounted or shapeshifted. Not all of these items will work in every zone, but they’re all interesting.

Patch 4.2 Preview: Trinkets From Firelands
With 4.1 and 4.2 being split up last month unexpectedly, our database has a few vestiges of content that technically exist on live that don't drop yet. Of these items, the most important are the trinkets. Trinkets are probably World of Warcraft's most loved and hated item; they never seem to drop when you need them to. Firelands, of course, has its own set of new trinkets. While the PTR is not up yet for us to see what boss they will come from, we have them here for your viewing pleasure. We featured them a few months ago, but they got lost in the numerous updates made since.
Something interesting about this tier of trinkets is that they all have unique procs or on uses--there are also
a lot
of them, fifteen for each version of the raid. I wonder if one set of the trinkets is possibly from a quest reward that's different in normal and heroic, something akin to
Heroic Judgment at the Eye of Eternity
from Wrath of the Lich King's
