Definetly better, resembles original helm of domination as well. Official crown of wills looks like a dungeon loot item.
I think a better approach is to just keep both the Helm of Domination AND Crown of Wills. The Lich King keeps his helm and 9.2 story gets its own crown for w/e reason needed for it to begin with. There is literally no reason not to. Especially when Helm of Domination is being turned into a discount Burger King crown.
why the flying frick can everyone come up with a better version of iconic blizzard Items..than paid for Blizzard Devs themselves? It is like they are being paid to ruin the game one iconig Item at a time.Still looks way better than what ever that watered down version isI get it they wanted to make it look "Helm of Domination" sure ..but atleast make it resemble it. Can't wait for the next expac..
Pog!
I agree that it looks better however it misses the point,it's not supposed to be a "good helm of domination" that design is maw/jailer inspired And it simply doesn't make sense for them to forge it like that, on the other hand the in game one is closer to the eternals and first ones style which makes it way more appropriate. That's how I see it at least
Hire this man.
How will it look on a Tauren?
Any designs will look better than the original
I'd say it actually makes more sense than the crown we get now.. It's meant to be a culmination of everything we have learned in terms of the flaws of the shadowlands system, and a testament to the memory of those who fell to domination magic. Not to mention it still is literally being made OUT of the helm of domination. It shouldn't erase all of that design language and memory, since the whole point of the helm is to remind everyone of what happened with the misuse of domination magic, as well as the failures of the old shadowlands. It is attuned with the first ones aesthetic still, the design still reflects that. Keeping the iconic domination style spikes on the top acts as a grim reminder of the past, reinforcing the statement the crown is meant to provide going forward.
Tbh orginal one looks like oribos themed so..."Not good not terrible".
cool.
it's true, I don't know what blizzard wanted to show us but it sure doesn't make a good impression. the version above is much better
The artist's is miles better. We usually say the art team carries these expansions, but so much coming out of 9.1 and 9.2 has been really lackluster.
People said that artist's version is better, at first I thought so too, but I brought my mom into this, who is also a designer, and I told her about the history of the helm and its current state as the crown,And she said if the helm doesn't represent the domination magic, on the contrary if it represents the free will, then Blizzard's version is much better.Because as far as the artist's version goes, she said it feels like it's still dark also it might be interpreted as its dark powers are empowered and it's glowing from that new empowerment. If you want to evaluate it on pure charisma, sure, artist's version is better. But when you include the backstory and the meaning into it, it isn't.Remember, SoD heroic plate helm is also made of a light color, but it's still evil. And even if you want some resemblence in between the HoD and CoW, they're a whole different species now, because its material is infused with First One's magic(domination encountering language etc) and it's nothing like what it was once. So making them similar wouldn't work other than just appealing to your eye.
I'm with the designers in the room here; the fan's design is neat, and more detailed, and resembles the old helm. But, it also shouldn't resemble the old helm. Repurposing materials from one object into a new one doesn't necessarily mean cramming the pieces into a new shape as-is, it can (and probably does) mean melting them down and building something new/better out of the material itself.A helm that isn't of domination, but of the Light and/or of free will, should in most ways be its visual opposite. Personally I'd have also made it something other than a hat just to maintain that opposing stance (and also avoid these comparisons), but that's me. Putting sharp spikes on top of something that's very visually Good Guy Themed--since I can't necessarily call it Light-themed--isn't really adhering to the aesthetics of those who are making the crown in-setting.As far as theming goes, it really should not look this much like the Helm of Domination, an item created by the Jailer who really loves uncolored metal, spikes, sharp curves, and a feeling of restriction and enclosure in everything he makes. The Crown of Wills should by contrast be something lighter, almost floaty, and with that in mind I feel like it's a shame they didn't include any energy beams, more/larger gems, or things like that in the official design. The current design is kinda bland and not a defensive (or imprisoning) helmet; it looks like it should. It's just kinda dull.
Honestly I'd make the crown be a floating array above someone's head. I mean it represents freedom so it should not bind or contain in any way.
