Still not convinced. It's completly plausible for Hogger to be corrupted by the old gods. Besides, he is basicly a gimmick so for that to happen even in WoW wouldn't surprise me. Now, as for Ragnaros, Lightlord; it's so out of touch with the universe. Not just the lore, but the warcraft universe.
...who cares if it's possible or not ? Can we just have fun ?
Corrupted RenoBattlecry: if you have no more than one of each card in your deck, you LOSE the game.
Honestly I hope they keep "purifying" more cards, "You stand before Jaraxxus Eredar Saint of the Glowing Legion!"
The Light lord confusion is thinking rag is using "Holy light" when he could just be using light generated from fire. camp fires provide light, heck the sun the biggest light source is a flaming ball of gas. Yes its a paladin card so holy is some what implied but not confirmed, prefer to think of this as rag the very bright campfire lord.It works for the Sunwalkers.
Ok, I want my Legendary Zeratul then in an upcoming Hearthstone expansion called Legacy of the Void. Because, why the hell not?
#LegendaryZeratul for the next set
Ragnaros was featured in blizzard's March badness to go from that to being a servant of the light even if it's only in a silly card game is just to much for our suspension of disbalief to bare
#GlowingLegion2016Anyway, it's Hearthstone, not WoW or Warcraft IV. It's not a source for lore, it's a fun spin-off card game where you can do a lot of stuff that would be ridiculous in other Warcraft games. How is this one card weirder than, say, playing cards against the cast of Naxxramas? Honestly, go read Chronicle or the novels if you want serious lore.
Here's my take on Rag:He's like Lex Luthor teaming up with superman to fight Darkside. He's still Lex Luthor. There are just more pressing matters at hand than fighting Supes. That's how Rag would fit into this universe. he doesnt change, he just redirects his wrath and he will go back to crushing mortals later. But the lightlord theme is more on the line of Piccolo or Vegeta in Dragonball Z.They were introduced as the ultimate evil and ended up as friendly neighbour good guys. (more or less)This works in DBZ because you have a story to make it believeable. In Hearthstone you only have a Tweet.
The main problem is that they use same character twice but there are lots more npcs in wow. It doesn't matter to loot hoarder cos he is just nameless gnome with chest. But here is a famous guy in warcraft lore. He shouldn't be presented as two different cards, at least in standart. It seems so like reprint. But anyways it seems okay if devs decided to do this card.
Ultimately, this is just a card game. Lore is not its main focus, although players like it to follow the lore they know. But, if the game strictly followed the lore, we would never have certain cards. The main focus here is a fun, lighthearted environment.Besides, they can imagine many abilities for a certain character, and thus print many versions of it. I know this is not the same context, and people are concerned because of the uniqueness of the legendary characters, but have you ever played Pokémon TCG, for instance? There are many reprints with different abilities.Of course, this is all a matter of personal opinion, but, for an expansion based on corruption and its precursors, Blizzard would be kind of limited and losing a great opportunity, if they would not allow themselves to print corrupted versions of well known characters, just because they are already in the game as classic cards. Remember that here, contrary to WoW, there is no clear way to develop a character over time. It is all concentrated on a card game.
