New Site Feature: Transmogrification Sets
Transmogrification is one of the most hyped features in the upcoming 4.3 patch. And since we're the main World of Warcraft database, the pressure has been on us to create some tools for our users to find what they'll be wearing. As such, we've been working on some pretty awesome features as a team in addition to our usual workload since it was first announced this August.
With that in mind, I'm pleased to announce that we're launching phase one of our transmogrification features today. More are coming in the following weeks, but we think you'll like this one a lot so we decided to get it out the door and on Wowhead!
In short, this phase is all about
transmogrification sets
. A transmogrification set is a set of gear that matches, even if Blizzard doesn't always call it a set--and we've combined
over 1,100
of them for this feature in the past few months.
From alternate recolors of tier 10 to awesome low-level BoE sets to matching gear from troll heroics, the content team has added almost every unique set you could possibly want. If you're a warlock who wants to look like a priest or a paladin who feels more like a warrior, we've also got you covered; these are labeled as "look-al

for additional capes and MoP styles.
Capes are the bane of transmogrification. There's so many options, they're never designed to match specific tier, and some of them cut into your cool weapons. Although there's a "show/hide cloak" option, hiding it is the easy way out.
This past week, Ashelia and I went through over a thousand capes in the database, sorting them by similar models for a different project and we decided to make it into a guide. With this guide, you can find the perfect cape to match the removed ones from Trial of the Grand Crusader, a crafted cape that's identical to a raid epic you've never seen, a completely unique model from a quest reward, or even a blue-quality version of your favorite tattered grey cape.
The capes have loosely been categorized by Unique Designs, Patterned, Two-Tone, Solid with Border, and Faction. From there, the capes have been further categorized as medium (hip-length), long (ankle-length), and split (two rectangles ending at waist). We've provided screenshots of all the capes we own, and you can always use

4.3 Preview: The Dragon Soul Raid And Transmogrification Rules
The Dragon Soul Raid
World of Warcraft patch 4.3 will offer players the opportunity to take the fight to Wyrmrest Temple and beyond, assisting Thrall and the Dragon Aspects as they seek to bring an end to the Black Dragonflight once and for all. 10- and 25-person raids will get to take on Deathwing himself, with three levels of difficulty to consider and epic gear to claim.
Forged by Deathwing during the War of the Ancients, the Dragon Soul harnessed the power of the other dragonflights, until it was ultimately destroyed. After recovering a version of the artifact from the Caverns of Time, Thrall and the allied dragonflights now rally at Wyrmrest Temple in a desperate bid to use its might to defeat Deathwing.
Created by the titans as a sanctuary for all Dragonkind, the crumbling Wyrmrest Temple is now the final hope for the forces allied against the black dragon Neltharion, once the Earth-Warder and protector of Azeroth, now Deathwing the Destroyer. It is here that the remaining aspects -- Alexstrasza, Ysera, Nozdormu, Kalecgos, and Thrall -- have gathered to empower the Dragon Soul -- Azeroth's last chance to stop the great behemoth. As

A Guide to Farming Vanilla Raids
Overwhelmed by what vanity gear to farm for your 4.3 Transmogrification gear? We've provided an overview of some quick instances to solo and start with--Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, and Ahn'Qiraj. Once challenging 40-player dungeons that left vanilla raiders with unforgettable memories, these can be done with relatively little planning. They've got distinctive tier sets, interesting lore, and some items with unique models for all classes. You'll need to convert a party into a raid to zone in, as well as clear some bag space, but that's about it.
In addition to summaries about the instance's history, how to farm them at 85, and notable items, we've provided drop-down tables to each boss' loot so you can scan all the drops easily after the break. Happy farming!
Cœur du Magma
History:
Molten Core was the very first instance many vanilla raiders faced--there's timeless memories of forgetting to skin core hounds, blowing up the raid as "the bomb," and of course, seeing Ragnaros spawn for the first time. While it can be easily soloed now, Molten Core used to be a 40-player dungeon that caused painful wipes and granted players

NPC Fashion: Dress Like Your Favorite Character
Want to look like Inquisitor Whitemane, or maybe Tyrande Whisperwind? Following the recent series of Transmogrification guides, I've gotten a ton of feedback emails asking about the armor worn by distinctive NPCs.
We've compiled a quirky list of favorites--both celebrity NPCs and lowly grunts--so you can dress up like your favorite hero or villain. Most outfits are fine for mogging (of course, the NPC's outfit has to match your character's primary armor type), but if you want to get the *exact* look to match some NPCs, you'll have to mix armor types. (If you think of another NPC that should be on the list, I'd be happy to look up matching armor and add it to the guide.)
There's also numerous inaccessible pieces of armor worn by NPCs (cough, the shield worn by the
Gardien de la délégation de Lune-d’Argent
)--perhaps the Darkmoon Faire will introduce some of these fun recolors and robes in 4.3! Personally, it would neat to see Ysera's armor in game, or Thrall's.
The Visual Roleplayer's Gear List
and
Kirina's Closet
were invaluable resources in compiling this list--we've featured some of their creations and you should check them out for even more NPC ideas!

News Round Up: Diablo III Community Site, Model Updates, and More
There were some blue posts last week and today that mostly dealt with the onslaught of questions about transmogrification, the Darkmoon Faire, and model updates. Yes, model updates--with everything else being revamped, including the long sought after armor customization, a lot of people have been pretty curious about the prospect of new models coming someday.
Highlights from today's news round up:
Replica items may mean that items from DMF may just be art skins, rather than the original gear--so it may be impossible to tell replicas from the real thing.
Death Knights will get their stater gear back, probably set up in Archerus, so non-DKs can't steal their unique armor!
Diablo III community site was launched!
Murkablo was confirmed as BlizzCon's pet reward, but everyone already knew that from when he was datamined--right?
Some character model discussion by two wonderful Community Managers.

Transmogrification Guides: Look-Alike Tier (Updated for 5.4)
In this guide, I'm going to cover sets that resemble tier but don't have any class restrictions. There's a large amount of recolored class tier floating around the nether, except it fortunately doesn't have any class specifications. Blizzard has been especially diligent in MoP to have lookalike options without class restrictions for all tier sets.
We've include many links to our transmog sets, which can be filtered by each tier and include matching belt and boot options. On each transmog page, we also have new

News Round Up: Transmogrification Clarifications, Void Storage Updates, and More
We have a lot of random posts for transmogrification lurking about from this week and last.
It's probably easiest to simply sum them up:
Heirlooms will be eligible targets for Transmogrification--you won't have to look bad while leveling up!
Mainhand can only be applied to mainhand and offhand only to offhand.
The jury is still out on "silly" items. They are debating whether or not you can use fun offhands like frying pans, fish, and so on.
While not planned for day one, greys and whites might eventually be an option. The wording used by the Community Manager implies it's not set in stone either way.
There was also a clarification about void storage (no, those prices are not set in stone) and a good PvP post session with Zarhym covering everything from twinks to deleting warlocks from the game forever. Oh, don't worry--he was kidding.
On Transmogrification
That's still under discussion at the moment. Right now, Legendary weapons and Heirlooms probably won't be eligible, while some Bind on Account items probably will be eligible. It's not set in stone yet though.

Transmogrification, Part 2: Unique Items and More Tier
Last guide covered the
basics of Transmogrification
(shorted by the blues to Mogging) and class-specific tier sets, but what if you want something a little more creative? In this guide, I'll provide an overview of Void Storage as well as cover distinctive weapons, some unique items, and armor sets that do not have class restrictions.
There are several types of items that cannot be transmogged (and we've created an item filter for this):
Legendaries: a blue post clarified they can't be used :(
Stat-less gear: no starter, holiday, or vendor-bought gear. (How cool would it be to have a tank in a level 1 shield?)
Armor/weapon disguises that don't use the accepted type for a class: DKs as rogues, hunters as warlocks, casters wielding large axes, etc.
Silly items: gear in the shapes of fish, flowers, or frying pans.
Even with these restrictions, there should be enough to keep you busy collecting!
We've updated this guide in 4.3 to include transmog set links and image mouseovers for item sets in the last table.

News Round Up: Transmogrification Will Require You to Own Items, Blizzard CMs Have Lives, and More
There were a lot of blue posts yesterday and I think it's only fair that we post them up. They answer a lot of questions in general about these new features that were announced such as transmogrification.
These posts confirm that you will need to own the items already in order to transmogrify into them--one of the most discussed aspects of the new system. This will be a letdown for some. It makes perfect sense as it will encourage players to revisit dungeons and raids that many have never seen, but for those of us who raided when they were current, it is a letdown if we have deleted our sets. I know I deleted all my sets come Cataclysm simply because I had zero bank space for anything thanks to all the WotLK sets in there. I will now have to recollect them all it appears!

Blizzard at Gamescom: 4.3 Announced, Deathwing, Armor Customization, Diablo 3 News, and More
So things just got really serious--4.3, which was a huge mystery, is now pretty much unveiled at Gamescom. When speaking to
Kotaku
and
Gamona.de
, Tom Chilton was very open in just how much content the patch would have for WoW players. " has a whole bunch of content," he said, "three dungeons for five player instances and a new raid instance culminating in the Deathwing fight."
Of course, it's not just dungeons to be excited for. Those ethereals we mentioned a week and a half ago? They're for what most of us only dreamed in our biggest dreams and Blizzard previously said was impossible: armor customization. "We have a wealth of armor sets we created that people no longer use," Chilton said, explaining why they had chosen to add it in.
What we know about 4.3:
Deathwing in 4.3
According to
Kotaku
