The Popularity of Classes, Archetypes, and Sets at the EU Spring Preliminaries
Unlike previous tournaments, Blizzard has made every single competitor's deck from the upcoming European Spring Preliminaries available. This means that not only do the viewers know what to expect, but so do the players. We decided to take a look at all 484 decks from the 121 players that were invited on points alone, therefore leaving those out that still are yet to secure a spot through the European Tavern Hero bracket. In essence we're narrowing our search field down to the best of the best, those who have already proven their skill by racking up HCT points through ladder play or other tournaments.

Climbing the Ladder: Trying Something A Little Different
We've finally reached the point where the new Whispers of the Old Gods meta has started to settle down a bit with Aggro Shaman and Zoolock currently leading the way. However, those aren't the only decks that are competitively viable, especially if you're not among the top tier of players. For everyone else there are a ton of options that are just as likely to pull out some victories and for the most part that's what we're highlighting today. From a Pirate Warrior to a Yogg-Saron Lock and Load Hunter to N'Zoth Patron Warrior (Wild), there are a ton of cool decks to check out and try for yourself.

Firebat on Blizzard: "I like what they're doing with the game"
During his competition at PAX East 2016, we had a brief chat with Cloud9's James "Firebat" Kostesich. We've already introduced
his thoughts on the balance changes
that went live shortly after we caught up with him. But there's a lot that he's said which continues to look closer and closer to reality.

Climbing the Ladder: Twelve Decks Built for Success
It's hard to know exactly what's worth playing at the moment. Just a few days ago the ladder was riddled with C'Thun Priests and Deathrattle Rogues, and while the latter has remained, the former has plummeted out of relevency faster than anyone could have predicted. This is especially true today after it was revealed that
the class has plummeted
to a 46.5% win rate in China, almost a full two percentage points behind the next closest class.

Five Surprisingly Relevant Classic/Basic Hearthstone Cards in Standard
Everyone knew there would be a good amount of room made in all of the classic archetypes when Goblins vs. Gnomes and Naxxramas cycled out. But there was some amount of hesitancy to name any specifics given the 134 cards that were also being added by Whispers of the Old Gods. And while that certainly came with it's own surprises like , there's also been a resurgence of Classic/Expert cards that were previously sub-par. Here are five in particular that we've noticed a lot of, whether on the ladder or appearances in decklists, professional or otherwise.

Firebat Pleads for Improved Esports Communication
James "Firebat" Kostesich flew to an event in Brazil in hopes of securing his spot in the Spring Preliminaries. But when the top 128 players were announced, Firebat was not among them, seemingly missing the points he should have been rewarded for his placement. As it turns out, due to the finish time of the tournament his points were technically awarded to the Summer season and not Spring, costing him a chance at competing this month.

Were the Hearthstone Nerfs Appropriate? - Pros Weigh In
History books will forever tell the tales of that strange two day period between the
largest set of Hearthstone nerfs ever
and the release of Whispers of the Old Gods. For 48 hours the meta was astoundingly slow, helped by the lack of combo decks on the ladder. At PAX East 2016 we talked to some of the biggest names in Hearthstone esports and gathered their thoughts on the impending changes.

The Best Golden Card Animations from Old Gods
More than 100 cards were welcomed to the tavern last week when the Old Gods finally made room for themselves at the table. We had heard their whispers and knew they were coming, but even with that knowledge, it's still hard to fully take in all of the new content.
Hearthhead has already
highlighted some of our favorite flavor text entries from the set and this time around we're shifting the spotlight to golden animations, the cream of the crop, what many consider to be the best part of new cards being added.
