On October 10, 2005, 16 years ago, Patch 1.8.0: Dragons of Nightmare was released. This patch brought us the Dragons of Nightmare World Boss, changes to Silithus, Hallow's End, a very notable Druid revamp, and the vendor Buyback tab.
New World Boss: Dragons of Nightmare
Disturbance at the Great Trees
Something is amiss in the Emerald Dream. Immense dragons with the shimmering emerald scales of the Green Dragonflight have been sighted guarding the portals at the Great Trees... but these once-noble creatures crawl with a new, strange menace, not the peace for which Ysera is known. Bring many allies should you dare to confront them; their powers are formidable and they will not hesitate to crush any who draw near.

Patch Notes: Patch 1.8
The Dragons of Nightmare World Boss was actually 4 bosses, 4 great dragons. Notable for dropping gear with Nature Resistance on it,
伊森德雷
,
莱索恩
,
艾莫莉丝
, and
泰拉尔
, would spawn one at a time a few times per week from portals in in Duskwood, The Hinterlands, Ashenvale and Feralas.
When the Shattering happened in
Cataclysm
, these 4 dragons were removed from the game.
伊森德雷
, the leader of the Dragons of Nightmare, became a questgiver in Feralas, giving a quest which involved their redemption (
伊森德雷的召唤
or
伊森德雷的召唤
).
In
Legion
, the Dragons of Nightmare were again drawn back to the corruption, and became
a boss in the The Emerald Nightmare
.
The portals that the Dragons of Nightmare spawned from are now available to Druids as part of their Legion Class Hall.
In recent years, the Dragons of Nightmare once again appeared as World Bosses as part of the World of Warcraft anniversary event.
Zone Revamp: Silithus
The Stirring of the Silithid
The arid sands of Silithus are shifting. Something is awakening beyond the wall to the south... Aid the Druids of the Cenarion Circle as they delve into the mysteries of the desert. Seek answers behind the Twilight Hammer's presence. Discover more about the alien creatures known as the Silithid as you explore their hives. Many new endeavors await the high-level adventurer!

Patch Notes: Patch 1.8
Silithus received a complete revamp as the Twilight's Hammer arrived in the zone and the druids of the Cenarion Circle investigated them. This was the very first step towards the massive event to open the gates of Ahn'Qiraj.
New Holiday: Hallow's End
Hallow's End
When the decorations of Hallow's End light up Azeroth's cities, you know there's mischief afoot! Seek special vendors in Orgrimmar or Ironforge and get your hands on treats! Aid a sick orphan in a little trick-or-treating! Deathcaller Yanka, attending the Forsaken's Wickerman Festival, and Sergeant Hartman of Southshore are seeking your aid in keeping the enemy out of their holiday affairs -- are you up to the challenge?

Patch Notes: Patch 1.8
This was the start of the event that nowadays has us traipsing from town to town getting candy from pumpkins. For many it is yet another chance to try for the coveted
无头骑士的坐骑
. If you don't have it yet, you can start farming again a week from tomorrow, on October 18th. Check out our Hallow's End Guide for all of the details on this most popular of holidays.
Hallow's End Guide
Class Revamp: Druids
Druids received some very significant updates in this patch, the most notable of which was
枭兽形态
. Moonkin Form has received substantial changes over the years, including new race looks and
群星雕文
which changes Moonkin Form to an Astral look. But this is when it started.
General: Buyback Tab
You can now repurchase up to 12 items that you have sold to a vendor. There is now a buyback tab on all merchants that you can select to repurchase the last 12 items you sold since you last logged in. When your character leaves the game or zones to a different area, this list of items will be cleared, so if you have accidentally sold something, don't wait to buy it back. Buy it back immediately.

Patch Notes: Patch 1.8
It may seem like a small thing these days, but imagine a World of Warcraft in which if you sold something, even by mistake, it was gone forever. How many of us have had our sanity saved by this little addition? How many of us have used it for extra bag space? Note that when it was first implemented it cleared when you logged out or changed zones. Next time you use your friendly Buyback Tab, thank Patch 1.8.
