Interesting but I hope they are "different" centaur rather than retconning previous information. It does seem that these centaur are more advanced than kalimdor centaur, which makes sense given the 10000 years vs 1100 years of cultural development. I also find it kinda funny how dragons probably know sooo much history and just choose not to share it with mortals.
I really hope they press on with Merithra and don't discard her by bringing back her mother. She is actually an interesting character and we got to see her grow with her BfA storyline.
Why is this tagged as live news?
There seems to be a continuity error in the lore here. The story says they were living on the Ohn'arhn Plains for a time before the Sundering but Maruuk got his name from killing a thousand demons. The Sundering was the climatic end of the War so did Maruuk and Terra abandon the war to find a new home while all the Wild Gods, Dragons, and majority of the mortal races fought desperately?Idk if the War of the Ancients waged on for a single or multiple years, but this seems to be either a major dck move on Maruuk and Teera's part or blizz just forgot the timeline of the WotA.
This is not live this is alpha news please use the right tag.
Somehow i saw it coming that Teera survived and not her partner
Now that I did not know until now.
So what did they board/make ships bound for the Dragon Isles? Story makes it seem like they just walked but the Dragon Isles were seperate from the main continent at the time of the Sundering.
The new centaur models looks like (the female one) they cut a female kul'thiran in half and glued her onto a horse... Why are they making these wierd changes to existing rigs that SHOULD look way better than they do? I KNOW Blizzard are WAY better than this, we've all seen some of the amazing models they've put out, but these centaurs along with the new dryad models are so bad and just WIERD that I'm confused at what the art team is doing... Did they focus so much on the Dracthyr costumization options that they ran out of budget and time for anything else? Or are they too busy making other things and forgot to pay more attention to the "lesser" character models? I'm just sad seeing this since the rest of DF looks AMAZING art-wise, I wish they'd pay as much attention to these things as they do to Thaldrazzus (or whatever it's called) and to their beloved painted-onto-the-models-gear they've put out.I'm not calling them incompetent, but it feels like they've taken on too many things in too short of a timeframe and now they have many small but visible details that kinda ruins the overall quality of what they've created. I'd rather the expansion comes out early next year and it's complete, tested and ready for launch and as bug-free as can be, than shipped full with issues, compromises and half-measures. (Like SL was.)
cool.
Man there is a lot of retcons and shabby lore in this origin story. On top of what the article itself calls out (centaur origin contradictions), how did these centaur manage to migrate to the Dragon Isles after the end of the War of the Ancients? Or did they just roll on over to them in the middle of the Legion invasion and then managed to have time to build a relationship and culture alongside the dragons who were bailing on the Dragon Isles mid-War of the Ancients.I hope someone at Blizzard realizes how little sense this makes. At some point in time they have to start integrating new lore into existing lore instead of just upending it or there will cease to even be a "story".
ah yes, the retconned race with so much shabby lore being written for them, the usual for Danuser and his writing team. and not just the origin retcon of this race, as others have pointed out, how exactly did they even migrate to the Dragon isles? did they really just abandon the other races/factions/people who were fighting the legion?
