I stopped playing WoW with WOTLK (played a bit of Cata but that's all), and then came back near the end of the Legion but I did follow the PvP tourneys happening in other expansions that I didn't play as well. I remember that most of the people were happy with Holinka and his decisions, there always will be some bad decisions in there, but most of the players (or maybe just the vocal ones?) were satisfied and IIRC he felt like an upgrade compared to what we had before him.So what is the reason people dislike him, apart from that Battleground that I didn't even see?
Ashran rework inc?
The fact that class design suddenly became boring and dreadful in the last few years...I actually kind of liked them in the time period he was a Dev. Lets see how this goes.
it can not be worse than today so....
SOLO Q
oh he saw RMP had problem in last wow tournament so..he can't stay wathc a RMP lose so here he go..to fix that RMP to be broken as in legion :P
Blizzard buries themselves...
First, J. Allen becoming President and now Holinka is coming back.Dig that hole deeper, Blizz.
Maybe “hardcore” pvp’rs didn’t like Ashran, but it’s where I’ve done the most PvP in my many years in the game. Once I got the hang of it, it was many hours of fun (and earned me all the pain-in-the-butt-to-complete titles from the garrison pvp building).
If he can fix the main issue of PvP (casters excluding boomkin and mages being trained by melee w/o any defense vs them) I will praise him and make a guild in his honor :|
Make Ashran Great Again! :)
Do you guys remember when Jim tell Michael about Toby returning, back in The Office US?https://youtu.be/o-RL0gb1G4I?t=48Most people are feeling the same XD.
Legion was the absolute worst state this game has ever been for class balance and overall combat feel. Let's hope it doesn't go back to that anytime soon.
People here are complaining that his return is a bad decision because "He made Ashran..." or generally complaining that his return is a turn in the "wrong direction".News flash people: Battle for Azeroth's PVP has been worse than Legion, and significantly worse than Warlords of Draenor- am I saying Ashran was amazing? Oh goodness no it had its flaws; but it was at the least ambitious and had a lot of heart behind it!Warmode is fun and has helped salvage WPVP but it does not provide enough real PVP content to be considered a hallmark of success for the expansion, which aside from this has only really churned out the so-called "Dueler's Guild" which is, in short, a joke given that anytime I go there the only duel I find myself in is with some ignorant passerby clicking the NPCs. Do not even get me started on PVP Island Expeditions which seems like it was shoehorned in to attempt to delay the inevitable drought of that game system as well. This being said I need to address the elephant in the room that he's not here to fix PVP itself but to attempt and address the issues with combat in a more general sense.I'm happy for this change- sure I'm not over the moon about it, but I believe he might bring some necessary competence to the dated and drowning combat system which I have seen complained about daily for the past two or so months. Give him a chance, it's not like things will get better by leaving things alone.
I know he was unpopular for some of his changes for PvP but I'm sure he brought a lot of positive changes to the game during his time at Blizzard last time. Most importantly though, I hope this is a sign from Blizzard that they've realised they've messed up some core aspects of the gameplay of WoW this expansion and so are shaking things up, bringing someone to the table that had zero involvement in BfA's development. This combined with the m+ cache changes coming in 8.1 show promise that the future looks brighter.
Yadda yadda class balance, I'm more interested in/concerned about the fact that this "unannounced project within Blizzard" was apparently canned like Titan, if he returns to WoW.
