It's about time.
Sure, because charging for season battle pass isn't enough. They also have to gouge us for "expansions".
Give us Paladin/Crusader
Kinda like Diablo2 which was supposed to release on 4 CDs and had a 4 CD jewel case and the magically fit it all on 3. Diablo2 Lord of Destruction was a fairly quick release and data mining found all kinds of items, lore, audio clips, characters tied to the 5th act which I am guessing was supposed to be a surprise addition to the game but they cut it to be able to sell an expansion. If were being honest plenty of companies do that so it is whatever. So guess we cant hate on them for working on expansions well before the initial game even released.... But they could have tasked some of those expansion developers on responding to beta feedback and even going as far as adding the damn gem bag which they said should have been an easy fix.... well where is it?1
this whole base game is just a giant tease, it's a good tease, well executed, but you can tell they are going to milk the hell out of D4
didn't we recently hear from one of their other games that creating expansions AND maintaining a live service game isn't feasible?with that in mind, i think it's a bit bold of them to already confirm a second expansion.
It blows my mind that they're paying $70 for this product, has a battlepass and a cash shop, and will undoubtedly pay $40 if not more for these expansions.
I think this is great news but...sadly I think we have to take it with a pinch of salt.D3 was also released with the promise of multiple expansions. Reaper of Souls met what I would classify as a "substantial" expansion, however the necro one wasn't substantive, yes it introduced a new class - but there wasn't any substantive new zone or new story, was a lot more "window dressing" and much more minor in terms of content. I personally want full substantive expansions like RoS in D3 and LoD in D2 with further storylines, cut scenes, brand new substantive areas to explore/grind etc. Cosmetic/QoL or 2-6 quest stories are not what I consider substantive (personally). For example - in Diablo Immortal "Major" content patches have been introduced with a new area like Stormpoint, but the story was short and decidedly not impactful on the overarching story of the game - it wasn't what you'd consider another "Act" - not in my book anyway. So - positive news - but I'll wait and see what actually materialises :)
