"The Bad" part is pure savageryRest in peace WW
I was wondering why the monk used taunt as part of his rotation last night in raid
So to give my feedback on this let's start with talent choices. 15 - I do like the Chi Burst being included, I think the chi it generates can help alleviate the issues surrounding having to use TP again to break combo breaker. 30 - Chi Torp I was never a fan of, idk...I always preferred Celerity; however, having tried it on beta I am a bigger fan now. One important thing to note here for new monks. This row basically comes down to this, Celerity for shorter more frequent movement for close quarters game play, Chi Torp for longer distance and more directed movement, and Tiger's Lust is more for survival and having another button to push other than your roll/torp button. Do not think of one better than the other because it honestly is a matter of personal taste and situation. 45 - Despite the liking to EE in row 45, I am not a fan of it. Yes, it does perform slightly better DPS than Ascension...but it relies on a highly active rotation and in my experience playing monk is often times about avoidance, thus your rotation doesn't really need it, it really is a matter of personal taste, just don't assume it is miles better than Ascension...because it isn't. Fist of the WT seems a default choice which is understandable; however, I can't see it being that strong in later patches. I look for the chi it generates to get nerfed, especially when you have other chi generators like TP and Chi Burst, I may be wrong and hope I am, but we will see. 60 - Tiger Tail Sweep is a joke, it really shouldn't even be there. If they extended the range to 6-8 yrds it may have been more competitive, but at 2 yrds? Lmao, my fat monk takes up 2 yrds just turning around so the range on that really needs buffed or the talent just dropped for something more useful. Good Karma I don't feel is toxic gameplay. There is a legit strategy involved in standing in something bad to do some extra damage to the boss, the problem comes in when people don't pay attention or start to standing in place out of habit. If used correctly it can be pretty useful, that is something that monks need to learn though through personal trial and error. Ring of Peace...lol what can I say it is useful, more so than Tiger Tail Sweep. I feel like the duration to CD ratio is a bit off though. I would prefer a 30 sec CD or a 10 sec ring. 75 - The new talent, Inner Strength, I do have a slight issue with. I wished that the stacking fell off at 10 seconds instead of 5, yeah 5 is plenty but a lot of issues I have had on the beta has been more survivability than DPS. Having this build up slow and then fall off fast just seems like a bad trade off. Any longer than 10 would be insane but 5 still seems too short to me.90 - Oi....that hit combo needs some serious work indeed. RJW feels like what I WANT with SCK. I honestly would rather see SCK go back to energy instead of chi. I used to love Xuen in MoP but not so much anymore, I would rather see a slightly longer duration and less DPS, just a personal preference. 100 - Serenity is just one of those talents that makes me go maybe but not really. You are encouraged to use any chi spenders for free and practically with no CD but you lose the aoe potential of SEF. I suppose in a raid setting with a single target boss yeah it can come in handy, but people should be aware that if you are out doing world content you are probably going to want to keep the SEF and go with Dragon Punch. Each as their own purpose, so don't assume one is superior over the other because it is again just situational.Really wished that Blizz would slightly increase base haste though I would much rather hit more frequently, use abilities more frequently and deal smaller chunks of damage than to be a slow hitting heavyweight who just has to wait between attacks.
While I agree on most of the points, I personally feel like there's just too much acceptance of what Blizzard is doing and not doing with the spec. "Oh, it's not so bad, the X have it worse, we will get used to it".There's no excuse for gameplay that actually goes against the principles we've followed thoughout whole Legion - i. e. breaking mastery. There's virtually zero effort being put into BfA windwalker development. Most changes made only regress Monk playstyle compared to Legion. Here would be my, bullet-pointy, list of issues with WW:* Martial arts fighter being painfully slow, feels like arms warrior, especially with RJW. Could be faster at least visually. * 5 cap on SCK - too low, makes the whole stacking mechanic an aferthought* SotWL removed, no new ability added. But that's a common BfA concern. * Chi Wave still existing - it's uneventful both mechanically and visually. Should be replaced with some actually fun ST competitor to chi burst. * Overreliance on Karma for damage* ToD burst window being too insignificant at 10%. Could go up by few %. * GCDs, but that's a general BfA issue. Still sucks to be based around burst, but burst feeling slower than affliction warlock thanks to waiting multiple seconds not doing anything. * RJW slowing down a spec. RJW being a passive skill with a toggle, it hardly counts as an active spell. RJW snapshots mastery. RJW doesn't interact with the rest of the toolkit at all, it only makes it worse.* Xuen kittykat is a nice visual but nothing aside from it. Again, no interaction with the Monk, fire and forget cooldown. * HC glues the spec together at such low mastery levels. HC feels like a baseline effect that makes sure we don't break mastery. HC should not drop if monk is parried, dodged etc. HC as a talent is either too bad or too good, no middle ground. HC could be merged with RJW.* Azerite traits are atrocious. None alters the gameplay.* Mastery without HC is at risk of being ignored* Obvious BoK issue.
I respectfully disagree about the upshot about the abberant double BoK gameplay. It's subjectively unfun and objectively unintuitive, particularly when you factor in that RSK + BoK is better than 3 BoKs.I'd rather see a chi dump type spell be implemented that's more efficient damage per chi than BoK and less than FoF and RSK, but only when spending 3-5 chi (it consumes all available chi). The question then becomes whether it's better to dump or stay conservative to keep the chi for FoF and RSK when they come off cool down. Honestly I do actually think their expectation is that BoK's new side effect should remove the need for such a spell. At any rate, buff RSK and end the double BoK madness now.
I don't see anything wrong with casting 2 BoKs in a row being a DPS gain. Mastery should be a form of optimization through rewarding smarter gameplay, not an end-all force on your rotation, that should be Hit Combo's job should you take it.However, why the hell is casting RSK a DPS loss. That's just dumb. It needs to be buffed. Double BoK should be something you can do to counter chi overflow when RSK/FoF are on CD, not in lieu of RSK. In AoE you already weren't casting RSK at a certain threshold of targets, so at least that isn't impacted by this.
Simply put Blizzard came in like a Whirling Dragon Punch and had a simple list. WW has to much survivability and to much AOE. Lets nerf those and well fix it later...The pain is real. It's almost like blizzard does not want monks to dps again.
I wish someone with influence would focus on the PvP aspect. Because when I logged on my Monk after pre-patch hit it really felt like a shell of the character I logged off.1. FoF stun gone2. Leg Sweep nerfed3. Incaps nerfed4. Port nerfed5. SotWL goneAnd the nerfs werent small, they were substantial. It really killed the WW for me. The playstyle I loved is gone. The only thing I feel like I can do on my WW now is run away.I havent been on WoW since the pre-patch hit. It's my favourite game by far, but I was hyped to main my Monk for BfA. Now I'm at a loss, trying to find shreds of hope on WoW websites. Nothing positive so far. Please reconsider how hard the nerfs to AoE stuns and incap hit the WW Monk. I think the additional nerfs are unwarranted. Monks have always been a mobile control-melee with burst. Now we can't do much of anything.
Yeah, the toolkit is pretty stripper down... I really hope someone with influence points out how gutted WW has been by the pre-patch in PvP. Or that Blizzard devs actually pay attention to comments here :-)
Do you think Blizzard really balances the game around using ToK as part of your dps rotation? Not sure if Blizz is to blame for that "abuse of game mechanics" lol
I'm ready to give up on this trash class. Surviving an Elite is near impossible - I've never played a more pathetic and weak class in this game. A Mage has more tools for surviving encounters than this. I enjoyed playing the class in Legion but now it feels like if an Elite just stares at me I'm as good as dead. Touch of Karma is a joke and they might as well just make us a cloth armor class. I would encourage people to not waste their time on this class, unless you like being a limp noodle...
