so much fun this deck is! dr boom i am trying to make..hard it is!
How about Echo of Medivh for card draw instead of an Azure Drake? If you are running out of steam but have a number of low cost mechs out it can really replenish your hand with extra mechs (or even extra legendaries!).
Seeing this deck a lot. Usually steamrolls my priest by turn four. Why not substitute a Jeeves (for draw) or poly (for taunt removal) for the Dr. Boom or drakes?
I agree with all of this. Essentially, with Echo you are spending 4 mana on hopefully at least 2 or 3 creatures that you then have to pay for to play where the Drake puts a 4/4 on board and draws. I think Echo could definitely work but it's just a little slower in terms of mana cost.
Is drawing one card enough, though? At least with Medivh you have the chance of a big haul (it would be fun to copy Boom AND his bots :D )I think with a fast deck it would be hard not to find value for Medivh. If you can't even get two minions to stick on the board you're probably going to lose anyway! Early on I can see you could lose tempo but if you run out of steam later on you've probably got mana to spare anyway. Also it's not really a deck that benefits much from Azure's spell damage.I guess an Antonidas or Gazlowe alternative would generate their own card draw but duplicating those would be pretty killer too! What about Ice Lance, by the way? There are already four freezes not counting the spare part freeze card in the deck. An extra four damage for 1 mana that procs Antonidas or Gazlowe is worth considering!
For those without any of the good finishing legendaries I personally like Kel'thuzadreplacing azure drake with echo of medivh is also good IMO, it works wonders
As a casual player, I really like this deck, as I have many of the cards, though not two of all of them, and neither of the legendaries. I did however pull a Foe Reaper 4000 from a pack, and use that in this deck as my sole legendary. I also don't have 2 of each card, so I had to sub in some here and there. Only have one , so I subbed in a Soot Spewer; no card draw, but 2 mana less with spell power. Also with only one each of , and ;I subbed in a Mana Wyrm and Arcane Nullifier X-21.And added one each of Arcane Explosion and Flamestrike for some board control. I'm admittedly low ranked(in the high teens) but I've won something like 10 out my last 11 games, only loosing to another mage running heavy secrets, spells and 2 Ethereal Arcanist. It was the only time I ran into card draw problem, but we also went 12-15 turns. Anyway, love the deck! and maybe I'll craft a few missing pieces. Hope someone as n00b as me can use these substitutions! Thanks Dills!
This deck carried me from 23-15 (as of right now) with a few modifications since i don't have all the listed cards. Also, I didn't really like the mage, but this is a pretty fun deck. and I had my mage at lvl 4 and started going ranked at lvl 8.
Just when i was about to ask you if there was a good mech mage deck out there. Nice post Dills!
What do you guys think of in this deck instead of ? There isn't any AOE here and can go off a turn earlier than the two tokens. It provides potential enemy board clear and at least freezes any minions that it doesn't kill. Is the 7/7 body that much more useful? It feels to me like he dies 90% of the time before he even gets to swing. At the very least might be a good substitution if you don't have .
I play a Mech-Mage deck myself. While I do not have the greatest of collections I do my best. Simply stated I do win about 70% or so of my matches and mostly with some very long streaks. I however use a much different deck than yours.Still, I think yours could use some serious changes based on what I have seen in my play as to what has been useful and where it has been.Instead of Loatheb who is a fantastic card, it is still only a temporary solution to enemy spell and board clear. Something like Troggzor the Earthinator has significant more board presence and a constant hamper on their ability to play spells until he is removed. I have gotten him from an Unstable Portal and it completely devastated my opponent. As said before, I would consider also using Echo of Medhiv. Yes, it is situational based on your board but you are also using mostly cheap creatures and if it is paired with 2-3 it essentially pays for it's value. I personally love it in conjunction with Unstable portal. Many a time have I managed to pull a legendary from the portal, play it and echo. Usually with other things on the board. If you honestly find it that situational, how then do you justify using Tinkertown Technician who is a terrible 3 drop unless you have a mech on the field. It is the same mentality.I personally have found that my deck works better and more streamlined when I dropped cards like the Tinkertown Technician, Clockwork Gnome and the Cogmaster. Yes they are good cards but 2 of the three require synergy to make them effective and Clockwork Gnome dies too fast. To be honest, while spare parts can be great, especially the stealth/rewinder. They are for the most part not a lot of value. Unless of course you are using the Archmage. I think dropping those cards and using something like Unstable Portal or a Board removal will do much more for the Mech-Mage. I cannot count the times that a coined Unstable Portal have devastated the board with a HUGE temp swing in my favor. Turn 3 Illidan? I think yes. Turn 4 Troggzor? Done.
