I hope SO MUCH Glimmer isnt a must have talent... i really dont like the playstyle.
As someone who mained Mistweaver in MoP, who also quit MW when Eminence and Chi were both removed, I am really annoyed that Blizzard gave Holy Paladins back Holy Power but refuses to give MW back Chi. The entire reason they took out chi from MW was because they felt it made the skill floor too high for the spec, but yet here we are, and apparently having a secondary resource to mana in addition to mana is okay for Paladins but not okay for Monks.Like, I'm happy for you guys. But this is bull$%^&. Paladin gets all the love and attention and Monk gets ignored and cast aside expansion after expansion.
Good point about the infusion of light, I think it would be interesting that instead of bestow faith or lights hammer on that row, they could have a talent that gave infusion of light the ability to give holy power. Because the worry would be if it was just baseline then melee build could take advantage of it and still very powerful in comparison. By making it a talent it would put people to either go range or melee build and it would actively change your play style with what you choose.
Turn undead interaction with DKs Lich Borne? Is it a thing? If not it should be.
No mention of Mastery, is it still the "Do X% more healing when in range of your target" thing?
I doubt the non-glimmer build will be viable in M+
just give us back the bubble absorb mastery
So glad to hear it's in a decent spot! I have my eye on shock barrier but as you said feels restrictive with the 3 barriers. I don't see many legendaries truly befiting of the glimmer pally so would be nice to see this one get some fine tuning! Also finally nice to want to pick kyrian, stupid steward haha
As a Glimmer Holy Paladin, I wasn't a fan of seeing the Beacon of Virtue and Glimmer of Light talents on the same row in the beta. I depend on the combination of both in Mythic plus on live, so now I'll have to choose one or the other. I prefer the melee playstyle as it's fun to compete with others for dps while healing. I found it odd to give Shield of the Righteous to all three specs, however. Rets don't use shields and the last good weapon I had drop on my Holy loot specialization, was a polearm. That kind of makes SotR pointless.
holy paladin is such a mess right nowit's trying to be 2 different things and it ends up being none of them.
Please Blizzard, add the Eternal Flame Talent from MoP back in the Game replacing Word of Glory
No need to make it more complicated than it has to be: Just have Holy Light and Flash of Light *always* generate 1 HP, and remove the silly "generate 1 HP when you heal the beacon" passive. Problem solved for caster types, and now you have a choice whether you want to generate by healing or via Crusader Strike. As for Glimmer of Light: I don't understand how this playstyle is necessarily supposed to be "melee style" at all. This is all based on Holy Shock, which is a ranged ability. The only reason for this nonsense is Crusader's Might which they should honestly just replace with something that directly reduces the cooldown of Holy Shock. Then you can well combine it with caster healing. My personal favourite is Avenging Crusader of course, always has been. This is where the melee holy paladin really shines, and I wish we could have a version of this mechanic that can proc or be activated way more often, but with a lesser throughput. Then we would have the choice to be *actual* melee healers first and foremost, Brigitte style basically.
I'm not feeling good about Shield of the Righteous being in there. I don't want to be forced into being sword-and-board....auras feel weak, too. Sure, it's great to have four to choose from, but only one of those is actually any good (Devo), which makes it feel weak if you consistently run in a multi-paladin party (which I do). I'd much prefer the current version of Retribution to this revamped one, or the ability for auras to stack, even with diminishing returns. Or they could make my day and bring Sanctity Aura back.Edit now that I finished it all: I'm a little upset by the level 25 talent row having three choices I'd like to have, and I'm concerned about the mana cost for CS, but other than that it feels all right, I guess. I've never really been in either the Glimmer or the non-Glimmer playstyle, being more oldschool Shock + LoD in melee (which I guess makes me more Glimmer than not, but I remember caster healadin from BC, and it blew. If you make me stand back and cast Flash or HS again, I'ma quit <.< ).CS seems -way- too expensive. With that in mind, I'm all for the author's suggestion regarding Infusion of Light changes to reduce that mana cost somewhat. It's absurd.
I find part of the analysis in this post to be flawed, because it doesn't seem to consider all factors, in particular in the assumptions made that result in the assessment that the two builds' play styles will be drastically different, in particular assuming "Caster" paladin won't be within melee range.Assumption that "Caster" paladins won't crusader strike: Crusader strike is castable whilst moving, the contribution to healing in the form of holy power generated is more mana efficient than flash heal (unless consuming infusion of light), and that contribution can be stored to use later with an instant cast, likely reducing overhealing and being more mana efficient in that way. Plus it deals damage.Assumption that "Melee" Paladin won't consume infusion procs: (Unless I have missed something drastic with the spell scalings) Holy light and Flash of light are significantly more HPS than crusader strikes into Word of Glory, even before infusion on Holy Light.Obviously both playstyles would cast Holy Shock on cooldown. I didn't calculate the impact of Crusader might, but I assume that on AoE healing at some breakpoint of targets Crusdader strike will be better HPS due to Glimmer / Light of Dawn, but I am fairly certain that number is above 1 (if not higher), and so if an individual urgently needs healing and Holy shock is on CD you are going to have a decision to make.I think subject to further tuning of the relative spell coefficients, Holy paladin is looking to be an interesting spec to play in Shadowlands, with nuanced decisions to make.
What a trash pile. Having 1 ability to use in melee doesn't make us a melee healer. In cata for example we had area based radiance that helped put us in that melee category. In early bfa, we had avenging crusader that really moved us into a melee support class. This weird MoP+bfa glimmer hybrid healing just seems sloppy and forced. I hope the devs understand that just because a spec is popular doesn't make it compelling and inviting.I loathe glimmer of light and saw opportunity in getting back to word of glory use like in MOP except this time there's no downranking of spells. I hate the fact were melee because of 1 ability. If this article is correct, light of dawn becomes crap also making us a poor melee alternative for raids.Ideally, I wanted to see us move to traditional ranged healing as a tank healing powerhouse with saved by the light and beacon of faith. Or, if melee is really where we belong, provide more melee support and less lackluster crusader strike generator garbage.
Well This article wasn't really helpful in the sense it only focus in glimmer build ....Second quite disappointed that Judgement doesn't give us 1Holy Power like it used to be
