yes keep only the seasional affix and scale everything up
As a healer main, I do dislike some weeks so much I rather not play. For example next week - Bursting/Grievous.Why? It's like they hate you for playing a healer.Affixes feel like a punishment. They don't add any real value to the game besides stress.
The purpose of affixes is for me that each week feels diffrent and makes playing M+ intresting. Ifthey would be the same for a hole season it would get borring quick. Playing Affixes correct is intresing I hate explosives because people expect me as a healer to kill them and i am not good at it. But in most groups the dps pickup on that an start doing them after some of them went of.
Carrots good. Sticks bad. Affixes are nothing but sticks, and current dungeons are already incredibly chaotic without even more chaotic affixes. Keep Tyran + Fortified cycle, keep seasonal affix, re-work the rest to be beneficial rather than detrimental.
Keep a seasonal affix. Remove every other affix & buff both boss and trash hp/dmg by like 10% across the board.They do not make dungeons harder. They just make them frustrating and annoying.Either that or re-work some to be positive affixes and pair negative affixes with positive ones.
I'd rather have a more interesting, fun seasonal affix + tyran / fortified than a mediocre seasonal because they can't balance it properly with the new dungeons + existing affixes. The end result is that it all sucks and people aren't having a fun time playing (more often than not). To have a system in a game which makes players not want to play your game should be an obvious area of concern for a developer, it's baffling Blizzard seem to have their head in the sand on this one.
I see it like this - I like it that affixes change, and that you have to alter your playstyle by a bit. That's good. What sucks, is that some combinations / affixes in general slow down the run too much, and not in a fun-challenging way, but in a rather annoying way. What's fun about not pulling an entire room, because you will spawn 35930258 explosive orbs that will overwhelm you? What's fun about being stuck in a tight place, spawning spiteful adds that you can't escape from? In my eyes, I think they should bring fated raid style affixes to M+, something like a risk-reward playstyle, instead of the boring 'this will slow you down'.
Replace all those negative affixes by 2 toghast like buffs rotating every week instead and let the mechanics of the dungeon itself be the difficulty factor...
Remove ALL the affixes except one seasonal, let us play the damn game not some BS smeared all over the gameplay design. M+ is infinitely scaling difficulty, it does not need even MORE annoyance on top of everything. Some times the amount of visual diarrhea on the screen is just absurd. As a caster you can't stand still even for a few seconds and cast your spells, there are already way too much mechanics that you need to memorize and execute, the game is becoming bloated, this is not a challenge, this is just a pain.. You know, people call a good game difficulty "challenging" and a bad game "bull!@#$". This is how it goes. If you need a help of endless WAs and addons to get through all the visual diarrhea and STILL be able to play your own damn class this is no good sign either.You just can not balance all the dungeons with those "affixes", and should not. If you're so hell-bent on having some extra "mechanics" on top of already bloated game, then let them ALL be positive instead of hard-punishing, so that executing affixes would reward you with big damage increase or healing or absorptions. Why the hell not? It would not make the game easy, because, once again, M+ scales infinitely, and it will naturally stop you at some point with just native dungeon mechanics and your class abilities.And the last but not least - for GOD sake, remove "key depletion", there is zero reason why it should exist, it would make the game instantly that much better and less toxic if the key would not deplete when you miss the timer. Missing the timer is already punishing enough, having to re-grind the key level again is nothing but frustration.
Why can't they just introduce more mechanics on the mobs/bosses rather then these annoying-in-your-face affixes such as spiteful/explosive? They already do this in raids, normal -> hc - mythic. Is that really too much to ask for? The affixes such as explosive is easy, that is NOT the problem, the problem is that they are extremely annoying, just add irritation and clutter the screen, not accomplishment. Spiteful just fills the entire screen with more nameplates. Storming is the same, more visual clutter on the ground. But Bli$$ard doesn't care. It would take work to actually make interesting affixes in dungeons, and more testing.
They should rework and make stuff more fun, most of the seasonal affixes have added a great value and makes it fun (not thundering) but still its an affix.They should keep seasonal affixes and Fort/Tyranical imo
Here we go again, let's milk this topic to the end. Some affixes in some dungeons need to be specifically looked at but overall affixes are fine, the only ones complaining are bad players who want all the rewards and 0.1% players who are mad that they can't push 1 key higher in an infinitely scaling system. For everyone else mythic plus and the affixes feel very natural to progress through and they're not supposed to be easy given how strong the gear in m+ this season is.
Explosive is more punishing for certain classes. I was surprised at how easy they were to handle as a shaman compared to my fire mage. I'd be in favor of retiring this one. I kind of like the idea of thundering where you can risk using the boost or play it safe and remove it asap. The others are just irritating. I hope they never bring back the added mobs to kill during a boss fight to get a useless buff that doesn't help compensate for burning all your openers on them and not the boss. I really super hated that one.
A large problem Is so many of the affix’s are healer affix’s. Like even when the dps mess up, they don’t get punished for it, it’s the healer that has to make it up. Some weeks are just so bad a lot of healers I know don’t play. Something is wrong with the design if players aren’t even running keys some weeks because affix’s aren’t soo bad
i hate explosives, especially in PUG settings, lot of people think that affix is only for healer or tank and then they are angry because they wiped on it, not able to take the fault as theirs, hell, i mostly play warlock, one of the worst class to clear explosives, bcs of downtime, using strong rotation procs and insta demonbolts (which deal quite chunk of dmg) just to clear them, and then when i look at end of dungeon - it is mostly healer, tank and one or two dps who cleared that dumb affix, while last one just completely ignored them, thundering is also awful, 30%dmg or healing for few seconds? while bunch of other mechanic is concurrently playing, hell, atleast last of few seasonal affixes had way to regen mana to healers
