80h for diablo especialy for an mmo is nothing. And then the Prize for game...Account-wide Renown rewards (potion charges, skill points, paragon points, maximum obols) will be reset with the start of a new season.is complete BS in my eyes
If the focus is on battle pass/seasons then what is point really of eternal server. other than letting those who have no interest in seasons or changes play forever and play thier character forever, whenever they want. But when a season starts, 99% of players will start a season and play over there. So then you will have some people on eternal server but not many. Then when a season ends, it probably will be like d3 and there's a week or 2 gap between, where you can play eternal and cooldown period, before next season starts. By sepperating servers/game modes though this eliminates loot/progress sharing. In d3 when a season ends all your paragon, gold and items found get moved to your non-seasonal character. I kind of liked that system in a way because it lets you power up your non-season in case you just want to play that once in awhile or between seasons. Now it will feel weird that all your progression in season is completely seperate from your eternal characters. I think the rebirth system solved this issue also. If i spend 100's of hours on a seasonal toon, only to basically throw them away or never be touched again on eternal server, then that will just feel bad. At least in d3 you are able to bring your favorite character to each season, progress and feel like your time was well spent. Now we will have to many throw-away characters. Makes it feel like d2 in that regard. d3 made several good steps forward in the formula, and then d4 seems to be going backwards to where they think all the d2 fans want. But not everyone will accept these changes when have played d3 for 12 years now. Many people never even played d2, or have done D2R so i think for some it will feel way different than us veterans who remembered how it was back in the day. Despite all the skills and potential builds, eventually there's only so many builds and ways to do a season. d3 was pretty bad about this, but its all we had for years so we never really thought about how shallow it really was, it just worked. D4 again is going d2 route, there will be a handful of builds for each class, so if you play a class extensively during seasons, long term you going to be doing same builds doing same grind etc either way. The only wild card factor is gear. But rng can be generous or the worst ever, so depending on your luck gear really will only slightly change your experience season to season if you playing same build. Once you reach 100 and if you are a try hard maybe max paragon too, what then is left if a season will just restart again. I know thats the point of seasons, its the same for d3, once you reach high paragon, finish season journey and those that push 150 grs, you just quit and wait for next season. Thats just the way these games are. I just feel with seperate servers/modes season/non-season that will be a lot of characters being deleted or never played again beyond a season. you cant just hop into non-season and continue where you left off like in d3. progression wise. So in the end, non-season mode will feel kinda pointless, more so now with such a super focus on seasons and battle pass. rather than a system added onto it like d3, in d4 the entire game is designed around it. its a big difference in design etc.
