Saw Asmongold play it, game looks amazing! Can't wait to try it!
I got access today and played half the first act. It is amazing! To have something so nostalgic be brought back in today's graphics, is a thing of BEAUTY. I think my favorite thing is the character select screen. Seeing your character up close with the high res is wonderful.
Aight. I'm convinced. Still not pre-ordering.
"The King Is Back!"(reason: outsourced)
Spent much of the weekend playing the Tech Alpha, and one thing I will say is this:Controller feels like it is the better combat experience. The simple fact that, as a controller-player (be it PC or console), you can have 12 abilities mapped (6 main on A/B/X/Y/RB/RT, and 6 more with an LT toggle) is huge.Want to use more than 2 skills in a comfortable manner? Play with a controller. The legacy Keyboard+Mouse way of mapping skills to F1-F12, then either having to press the key (or scroll the mouse wheel) to select the skill, THEN right-click to cast, is a two-step process that feels clunky (and felt so back then too, we just had no alternative). Also, movement doesn't get you hung up cause you clicked on an item, or a pot, or a monster, when you wanted to move a certain way, when it's controlled with the analog stick.I will honestly be playing the game with gamepad outside of town. Inventory management is something that keyboard+mouse excels at, no questions asked.
This is everything WC3 Reforged should of been. It's a remaster for the fans and the community, you can feel that the small changes that were made were made by the fan base of Diablo2 they make sense and are purely quality of life. It feels and looks amazing i'm just disappointed that WC3 Reforged did not receive the same treatment.
ah so they incorporated something similar to what the Command & Conquer Remastered versions have, a toggle between the original graphics from 1996/7 and the remastered version.
I've been playing the whole weekend and having a complete blast! So happy to see my all time favourite game getting the special treatment it deserves.I'm by no means knowledgeable about video game design, but it does look very polished already. The only issues I ran across were audio ones, like sound cutting off during quest dialogue (even though the text keeps scrolling), and one random crash during Act 1 on my Sorceress. And I do agree, that Legacy Toggle is such a huge blast of nostalgia, it's awesome!
I personally asked David Breivik (the original lead designer) on stream, if he sees any money from this. He said he doesn't receive anything and remains to be seen how much or if at all he will be recognized. He did not even know about it until the announcement, and Blizzard has asked for zero input.
Looking pretty good so far, This game was Blizzard at their best.Shared stash is awesome , im curious as to the plan for Annihilus charms since they required so many soj's to get uber Diablo to spawn. I mean if they remove it completely from the game i wouldnt be upset, but maybe a new way to spawn him might be a good idea.No offline mode is kinda lame just saying, still pretty hyped for this one and thats good since its been a long time since Blizzard got me hyped for one of their products.
Seeing how good this "remaster" looks makes me even more mad about WC3 Reforged...
Diablo 4 is cool, but this is what I'm really looking for. Diablo 2 is such a amazing game with so many memories.
tldr: its D2 with D3 graphics
