Thank god! i was getting really worried you guys weren't going to post your 27th diablo 4 post in the past 3 days, excellent journalism from wowhead as always! :) It's really nice that you guys make articles about the same things you've already made articles about so people dont miss them! :)
What do I think? I recognize that the game is dead, they half-assed the development and the final release assuming people would just buy it and stay with it no matter what, it has competition that is vastly superior to it, and it's just trying to run on the company name and brand recognition while having turned both into a synonym for sewage. But enough about Disney.
To be honest D4 is not one of the games that I really want to play any more. Even with these qol improvements the game does not appeal to me as it did before release. A lot of time "traps", lots of qol improvements that should have been there from the start, same old bounties from D3 and being bombed with the shop as soon as you log in. I feel sad as I really wanted D4 to be awesome. I love the Diablo universe and have played trough all of them before.
Very excellent changes!
I recognize they're good changes (even if they're way to late) I just can't make myself care enough to go back. Diablo 4 didn't have the just one more run addiction D2 had or the sugar rush power fantasy fun D3 does. Maybe the expansion they're bound to unveil at Blizzcon will have some new hook but as it is now I'll pass.
I'm not a complete doomer like maybe others in the comments. D4 might become a fine game in a year maybe. But to me, they aren't addressing the main problem right now. First, they needed, NEEDED to solve the inventory problem. I do not think this season will solve it completely. But we'll see. Second, as long as the loot is bad, the game is bad. Period. Everything else can be awesome, loot is bad, who cares. D4's itemization is terrible. Items aren't interesting, they're just taking space, never exciting, nothing original, nothing redeeming about it. I almost hate getting an upgrade in D4 sometimes. You get such a good item, but not for your build/doesn't have that specific aspect/doesn't have these random stats. Terrible loot. And these games are all about loot. And IF they fix the loot (which, they won't, not this season, see you in a couple months/years), the activities you do in the game are just so bad. Nightmare dungeons, helltides, cellars, world events, dungeon events, tree of whispers, renown. Every, single, activity is so bad. And they're not fixing that. So, no. D4 will still be a bad game coming season 2. For me anyway.
It’s a start, but fix respeccing or no dice. The whole “we don’t want you respeccing, make a second barb” was ridiculous from the git-go, another thing players obviously hate that Blizzard insists they are right with…sorry I can’t be bothered to click 1000 paragon nodes individually…seriously, why punish the player for trying to play the game how they want?
Why are they not....coming up with stuff before release?
It's going to take me a lot longer to get over all the ^&*! they did wrong on release, but these changes are all a good thing if I ever give it another try.
The stats and itemization are so bad. As long as they dont completly change it like D3 did to RoS, I wont touch this game. What was wrong with simple stats like dex, int, str? This whole vulnable, lucky strike etc pp are bullsh!t.
How do you make an article called "all general improvements coming in season 2", but then end it with "and those are just a handful of great improvements coming to Diablo 4"?
