Your drop in Plunderstorm is very important so here's the best drop locations on the Arathi Highlands map!
Best Drop Locations in Plunderstorm
Here are the best locations to drop in Plunderstorm:
Red Locations: Usually high density of mobs, but usually very popular. Prepare for a fight, but there's usually a lot of loot!
Green Locations: Decent density of mobs and loot, and not as popular. Good rotations out of this location
Yellow Locations: Okay drops. Usually has some issues with loot, mobs, and/or rotations to make it less appealing.
Orange Locations: Don't drop here.
Drop locations are super important in Plunderstorm. Each drop location has a different mob density and the faster you kill mobs, the better! Mobs provide not only loot, but experience as well and falling behind in experience in early game will significantly set you behind in late game if you ignore the farm.
What's in the drop location isn't the only thing that can make a place good, but also how you leave that location. Eventually, you're going to clear out the area and you're going to need to look for another area. In Battle Royale games, this is usually called a "Rotation". Rotating out of your initial drop is important because you want to keep the experience and loot coming in. Point of Interests (PoIs) that have no good rotations can be rough -- you may have a good early game, but your mid game is going to be difficult.
Popular PoIs
These drops, marked in Red, are usually filled with experience and loot, but are also usually popular.
Stormgarde
: This is a massive PoI and there's enough space for at least a couple teams to exist and claim their own section and elites. Be ready to fight after your claim your own section. When you want to leave Stromgarde, you have plenty of options for where to go next.
Newstead
: This place is much smaller than Stromgarde, but there's a good amount of mobs and loot in this area. There's also a lot of options and directions to rotate to after clearing out Newstead. There's a graveyard to the south of the PoI that usually has a couple gold chests.
Ar'gorok
: A very good PoI with a ton of elites and loot. Usually pretty popular, but there's enough elites that you can share with one or two other people. Don't forget the elites in the towers.
Dabyrie's Farmstead
: There's actually not much here but it's a popular spot. I'd probably try to avoid this location, but if you want a fight, this can be where you look.
Hammerfall
: Very similar to A'rgorok. There's a lot of elites and loot here. However, the downside is this side of the map is barren and rotations are slow. You'll probably need to finish leveling off of solo mobs in the open which is slow and inefficient compared to the left side of the map.
Go'shek Farm
: One of the hottest drops on this map. It's central and you should prepare for a fight if you land here. There's some elites, but usually there's not enough loot for the number of pepole that land here.
Good PoIs
These drops, marked in Green, are usually my favorite if I’m not looking to fight as they contain good mobs and good rotations but aren’t super congested.
West Lumber Mill
: Usually 2 elites here with a decent amount of mobs. There's usually a decent amount of chests in the nearby area as well.
Horde Outpost on Hill
: Usually decent mob density with some chests and elites. Good rotations to the north, south and east depending on where others land.
Ar'gorok Mine
: One of two mines on the map which has a decent combination of chests, elites and mob density. Usually isn't a popular drop.
Circle of Elements
: A fantastic drop location. Lots of elites and mobs to rank up. It's more central to the map and allows you to go where ever you want after.
Stormgarde Mine
: This location is very similar to the Ar'gorok mine. There's enough supplies to here to level up a few times and get you to the mid-game.
Southern River
: This is a surprisingly good location for not being marked in any way around the map. There's elites and some high value chests (Blue/Purple) to get some high-rank skills early. Highly recommend.
Alliance Camp
: Compared to the other PoIs, this one isn't as good in my opinion. There's less mobs and the loot isn't as good, and you're more separated from other nearby PoIs.
Okay PoIs
These drops, marks in Yellow, are okay and are usually not as contested due to their loot not being as good or only being able to support one team.
North-West corner
: There's some Elites up here, but the rest of the mobs are rather spread out. In addition, your only real rotation is to Ar'gorok while has probably already been looted.
Western Camps
: Both of the western camps are okay drops. There's usually a few elites and a lot of mobs and if no one lands at any of the other nearby locations, you can snatch them after.
North-East Elementals
: These areas contain a high amount of elites, but they deal a very high amount of damage in the early game as their attacks are not easily dodgeable. You'll get a decent amount of abilities and experience, but after you clear these, there is nothing else close by other than solo mobs meaning your mid game will suffer.
Southern Ogres
: Not many people like to land here. It's an alright drop but there's nothing else that's really close once you clear the ogres unless the river isn't taken.
Don't Land
Unless you absolutely have to, I'd avoid Witherbark Village. The mobs are super spread out and are super annoying such as casting CC totems or ranged spells. In addition, this area has absolutely nothing to do after you clear the area which will likely just set you super far behind.
