This Endgame Build Guide for the Rapid Fire Rogue in Diablo 4 presents the build's strengths and weaknesses, active and passive skills, and Specialization class mechanic to help you master all types of content. We also cover the latest Gear, Paragon Boards and Glyphs, and the latest Seasonal Mechanic, fully updated for Season 5.
The core of the Rapid Fire Rogue is ranged playstyle that has the potential for high single-target damage against Elites and Bosses. Our AoE is locked behind

, but that's the only Unique required to bring this build online. It also has very strong Crowd Control through

, with the latter leading to a lot of damage multipliers through various effects.

is a hugely effective single-target driller even without the Combo Point Passive, but we juice the Skill with the "Chance for Rapid Fire Projectiles to Cast Twice" Temper on three slots!
Rapid Fire Rogue Overview in Diablo 4 Season 5
In Season 4, Rapid Fire Rogue becomes a deadly ranged-sniper fanatic who takes down groups of enemies quickly but with tact, employing loads of Chill and Freeze effects to control encounters and end them quickly.
Bowling for Werewolves
You are most effective keeping your enemies lined up and close together. That said, there are few encounters in the open world that your single-target damage can't take care of immediately. Rapid Fire Rogue includes

for Crowd Control. With this kind of firepower and survivability, there's little you can't do.
Season 5 PTR Changes for Rapid Fire Rogue
Rapid Fire Rogue is receiving a ton of updates for Season 5!

has the potential for becoming BiS, given the Immunity it provides when casting

and the ability to leave explosions behind and pull in enemies. It'll need further testing though to see if the constant heal we're getting from

is replaceable. We already have an Immunity with

, but another can't hurt. The Evade cooldown seems like it'll be negligible with how much Movement Speed in general is being buffed through the updates to
暗影帷幕
's enhancements.
About those enhancements, is changing so that each active Dark Shroud shadow grants a 5% increased Movement Speed and also has a 15% chance to not be consumed. And is changing so that you heal for 10% of your Maximum Life when a Dark Shroud shadow is removed.

t has interesting potential in that it makes

a Marksman skill, which periodically throws out daggers that deal Shadow damage and apply Vulnerable over its duration. The vulnerable damage it provides is going to be worth the attention and experimentation to see which other Aspects it would replace, but considering it's largely a Utility Aspect, there's also a chance it won't see the endgame meta.

, or our breadwinner for this build, is getting a minor buff that increases the arrows' explosion radius by 10%.
Effects of Patch 1.4.3 for Rapid Fire Rogue
Our biggest change from this midseason patch is a reported fix to the interaction between

and

. The change is meant to ensure projectiles hit Close enemies as well as disallow those same projectiles from shooting behind the player. The radius of
痞子之吻
’s explosions has also increased by 25%. But that’s not all!
Our damage reduction from the

Passive Skill has also been increased to the degree that the full three-point investment is now at 18%, compared to the previous 12%. Additionally, the

— which we take for our Head slot — has been reworked such that Critical Strikes across the board now have a chance to grant us a free

shadow. This substantially increases the number of our
暗影帷幕
shadows we have active at any given time by removing the previous conditional modifier of the Aspect only working with Critical Strikes from Marksman Skills.

If you are looking for a Rogue build that is effective in any content and excels in Dungeons, Rapid Fire Rogue is your build.
This build uses

to build Combo Points and get your Critical Strike Chance rolling. Rapid Fire is our main spender for getting enemies out of our face. Adding
冰霜灌注
to the mix Chills and Freezes enemies while increasing damage through its various multipliers. Our AoE damage is sustained by

as our Key Passive allows us to hit even harder with Marksman Skills.
Rogue Skills Overview
Rapid Fire Rogue Skill Tree
The Standard Endgame Build for Rapid Fire Rogue is the build you'll be using most of the time for a wide variety of content -- Tree of Whispers, Helltides, dungeons, and most other normal activities.
Rapid Fire Rogue Rotation
Rapid Fire Rogue employs a simple paradigm: Build up your Combo Points, fire off an Imbuement, control enemies that approach, and take them down.
Behind the scenes, you are increasing Critical Strike Chance and Damage on rotation through Cold and Physical Skills with

. Your Cold-imbued Skills hit heavy and hit often, considering how we've built the Paragon boards. The single-target damage of this build is divine.
is your on-use defensive ability. Use this before the fight begins, or as soon as possible after the dust has settled. Use it on Cooldown and try to keep at least four shadows up as much as possible.
amps up Heartseeker, Rapid Fire, Dash, and Shadow Step, giving you two charges of Cold Imbuement. Always use it before engaging a large group of Elites.
is your Combo Point builder and will be a primary part of your rotation. Build three Combo Points while increasing Critical Strike Chance and Attack Speed.
is your Combo Point spender and main damage Skill. Always use it with three Combo Points and an Imbuement charge.
gives you an optimal way to reposition yourself out of tricky situations and enemy CC. In some cases, it makes sense to use this Skill to engage a smaller group of enemies to create distance between yourself and a group of Elites.
is our strongest Mobility Skill and optimal moving-through-town ability. When fighting enemies, try to use this with an Imbuement.
is our main source of CC and damage multipliers with its use of . Use this to create space between yourself and enemy packs and when wanting to quickly eradicate enemies. You'll often find yourself using it when enemies get closer than desired.
Rapid Fire Rogue Active Skills
This section describes the Active Skills you'll be taking for this build, along with any modifiers.
Heartseeker

Basic
Modifiers:
's primary function is to build Combo Points. It does not benefit from our Cold Imbuement so you can use it without using up Imbuement charges. Heartseeker's modifiers increase Attack Speed and enable projectiles to ricochet off walls and still hit their target, providing an easy boost to AoE damage. You will be using this ability more than any other, so line up your targets for maximum effect.

Modifiers:
is our main damage Skill. For maximum effect, you will want to use it with 3 Combo Points and an Imbuement charge. Note that Rapid Fire is effectively a single-target ability; however, if your target dies before the last shot is fired, it will continue to do damage to targets that remain behind. So, again, lining up shots will be important to optimizing your use of both this Core Skill and Heartseeker.
And speaking of our Basic Skill, our choice in increases our Critical Strike Damage up to 25% over the course of the five arrows hitting the target. This synergizes well with the +Critical Strike Chance in Heartseeker's base effect. We get even more Critical Strike Damage with after evading.
Shadow Step

No Modifiers Taken
Shadow Step is used primarily as a Mobility Skill, but it's use is more strategic in the sense that it both provides an Unstoppable status effect as well as allows you to dramatically reposition your character to escape enemy Crowd Control. It can also be imbued through

, which has a Lucky Hit chance to make enemies Vulnerable through . That Vulnerability then echoes back to , which increases our damage against Vulnerable enemies by 20%.

Modifiers:
Another movement-based utility Skill, Caltrops has more damage potential and Crowd Control than our other Agility Skills. First and foremost, the AoE damage and CC effect gives us a higher degree of encounter management, allowing for enemies to be sectioned off from others by the base Slow effect. ramps the CC up by first Chilling and then Freezing enemies after a period of time. At this point, we're simply benefiting from the CC effect, no hidden damage modifiers — from our Skills alone — are playing a part right now.
Similar to Basic Skills, Caltrops cannot be imbued. However, they can still provide effects that correspond or work off of the Imbuements. For example, players can Chill and then Freeze a pack of Elites with and then kill them off with a
冰霜灌注
version of

. Our use of provides a 40% increase in damage against that frozen pack Elites, since they are at this point under the effects of our Crowd Control.
Dash

No Modifiers Taken
is our primary Mobility Skill and requires a single point only, due to our interest in the effect alone. However, our lack of investment in this Skill does not discount its strength when escaping enemies. This Skill also increases damage and can be Imbued; however, we're interested in the mobility.
Dark Shroud

Modifiers:
is a superior on-use defensive ability. If you are expecting a fight, i.e., you're rolling around a Helltide, put it up so that you have those shadows spinning before you ever get hit. If you get caught with your Shroud down, so to speak, hit that button and get it up first.
After that, use the Skill on Cooldown in most situations. For example, when fighting Uber Lilith, you'll want to have it up as often as it does down, or as often as the five charges are used. Also, through our use of , each remaining charge provides 4% extra Attack Speed. So live it, love it, and use it.
Cold Imbuement

Modifiers:
amps up our Imbueable Skills by allowing them to deal Cold Damage and Chill to eventually Freeze enemies. This is a major source for how we spread CC effects and distribute our damage multipliers.
You have 2 charges of Cold Imbuement. The abilities that are enhanced by it are Rapid Fire, Shadow Step, and Dash. During a big fight, this Skill should be used on Cooldown. Otherwise, use judiciously for maximum effect. While it isn't the end of the world to spend a charge on Dash or Shadow Step, you will want to prioritize charges for use on Rapid Fire.
For modifiers we are taking which gives us a Vulnerable application, but more importantly, opens up which provides the 20% damage increase to CCed enemies and the 40% damage increase to Frozen enemies.
Rapid Fire Rogue Passive Skills
Passive Skills are important for tying a build together, as well as building on the synergies for the Rapid Fire Rogue build.
Sturdy

Despite our best efforts (and number of Agility Active Skills), demons occasionally get closer than we like. So, full investment in this Passive for the increased Close Damage Reduction is a good thing.
Stutter Step

Going along with the theme of Critical Strikes, our Basic and Core Skills end up increasing Movement Speed with this Passive when they hit critically.
Weapon Mastery

Agility
Weapon Mastery gives a nice damage bonus that plays into our strengths, with Bows doing extra damage to Vulnerable enemies and Crossbows doing increased Critical Strike Damage. You will always have either a Bow or a Crossbow equipped.
Concussive

We are investing one point into this Passive for access to the one that follows as well as for the damage multiplier to Knocked Back enemies, which we also conveniently explain more in the next Passive. Also, through the use of a specific Legendary Aspect, we receive benefits to Knock Backed enemies. i.e., neither our Skills nor our BiS gear involve the Knock Back effect.
Trick Attacks

Neither our Active or Passive Skills bring the Dazed effect to enemies on their own, it is only through the use of

that we are able to Daze and through this Passive subsequently apply the Knock Back effect. It's sort of like a reverse application of effect!

Full investment in this Passive gives us ample Dodge every time we use a Cooldown.

Three points into this Passive balances out our damage profile to the degree that we're dealing 18% more damage when scoping Healthy enemies out from far away with ranged attacks and then also when we're dropping Caltrops or blasting faces to those already Injured up close and personal with Rapid Fire.
Malice

This Passive beefs up our damage against Vulnerable targets. While none of our Skills — on their own — provide Vulnerable application, Cold Imbuement transforms Rapid Fire, Shadow Step, and Dash into Skills that apply the Vulnerable effect. So, it'll be important to consider that interaction in your rotation.

We take full investment here to increase Damage against Chilled as well as Frozen enemies, with the latter receiving a bonus percentage.
Innervation

This and the following Passive are all about getting as much as we can out of our Lucky Hits, with providing a chance on Resource Generation.

With this Passive, we are increasing our Lucky Hit Chance on any damage dealt by non-physical Skills, which in this case is primarily Cold Imbuement and any damage that results from Cold, Chill, or Frozen effects.

Haste

This is fun passive since it benefits us when we are either above or below 50% Energy. When above, it buffs our Movement Speed by 15%. When below, our Attack Speed is increased by the same amount.
Precision

Key Passive
Precision is our Key Passive. This passive synergizes with each single use of Heartseeker and Rapid Fire, giving us a stack of the buff with every cast. After four stacks, your next use of Rapid Fire (since we're not taking a Marksman Ultimate Skill) is a guaranteed Critical Strike, dealing increased Critical Strike Damage.
The BiS guide discuss the specific affixes we're looking for across all gear slots, but spoiler alert... we're stacking a lot of Critical Strike Damage.
Rapid Fire Rogue Specialization Selections
This build uses the Combo Points Specialization, which synergizes beautifully with
觅心箭
by providing a Combo Point on each shot and increasing your Critical Strike Chance across all attack types against the enemy up to 15%. Using
快速射击
as a follow-up attack on the same enemy will boost your damage output by spending accumulated Combo Points and soften the target up with a possible Crit.
If you don't want to worry about the Combo Point mini-game, the Inner Sight specialization is a very viable alternative.
