Hello! Welcome to the 267th edition of the WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-up!
This week we discuss if it's too late to get started with professions and look at what addons gold makers use to make their life easier. We also take a look at upcoming 10.0.7 patch and what can be done ahead of time to get prepared.

Is it Too Late to Make Gold?
The way Profession Knowledge builds up slowly over time, many have felt that if you didn't start day 1 then it's too late to get into professions. However, this is not the case depending on server and how you are willing to engage with the system, there are always niches to be found.
Right now, I want to reroll my characters to 2 new main characters (Warrior and Mage) and I need to chose 4 professions to start again from 0, so at this rate, I would like to hear the best recomendations of professions to pick right now and looking into future business for making gold. I have 1 million gold right now for boosting the professions.
Gathering are my last options because the low prices right now.
I wouldn't listen too much to people saying it's not profitable anymore. I started blacksmithing 2 weeks ago. 9th February to be precise. I thought I was behind as well but believe me when I say there will always be a demand. I spent 400kish on recipe and crafting stuff myself. On Sunday I was sitting at 2.1 mil gold profit. 11 days and made back my original investment and profit on top. And it's fun to learn the crafting system.
Honestly just try to read your trade chat. See how many armor Smiths and how many weapon smiths are there. My server has more weapon smith's than armor. Hence I decided to spend gold on buying recipes for armor. If you don't have much gold to start, I would stick to weapons because most recipes are tied behind renown (maruuk) and points itself in nodes of weapons. Same things is true for armors as well. You can unlock recipe for each armor buy spending 120 points. But there is still a high demand for embellished armor like frostfire leg/belt. Allied wrisguard etc
This brings up and interesting point, try turning on all chat channels and filters and wander around the crafting areas in Valdrakken. Listen to what activity there is in Trade Chat, but also stand next to people and see what they're crafting. It really gives a good insight into what the market is currently doing.
It depends on your server. I play 3 fairly often and 2 still have thriving crafting scenes while the other has had every "big" crafter I knew from SL transfer their main off because it wasn't worth it anymore. It's basically just one guy crafting literally everything now and even he doesn't seem thrilled with the profits.
I'd argue gold can be made but this is not a peak goldmaking time. A few weeks ago when they put out new content there were lots of opportunities (all the white xmog is still selling well but not as quickly and not for absurd markups, for example). It's currently at the point where I consider whether it's worth my time or not. It's like how a store might see sales year round but there are definitely holidays that really push profits.
I do think this could be a good time to jump in though as many like me are probably dropping out of the market to wait until the next big profit opportunity leaving less competition and openings for new crafters to jump in.
With your two chars I would do:
Mage = Tailor + Enchanting
Warrior = Blacksmith + Jewelcrafting
Tailoring is most efficiently paired with Enchanting. Mostly this has to do with the bracer shuffle that has existed in every expansion. The efficiency is with not needing to mail the crafted bracers across alts. Tailor also has access to craft bags and spell thread (multiple expansions). And before DF there were often BOE equipment that could only be used by the Tailor.
Even if you never get to the levels where you are able to craft your own enchantments, being able to Disenchant unwanted epic gear is usually more profitable than vendoring it. Cheap enchantments are also easy and can share them with your alts as you level.
Blacksmithing is probably the most profitable and versatile profession in DF because of a lot of BiS weapons and armor.
It also depends on the race of your alts as some get bonuses:
Blood Elves get Enchanting Racial
Dark Iron Dwarves and Lightforged Draenai get Blacksmithing bonus
Gnomes have Engineering bonus
Draenai have Jewelcrafting bonus
Goblins have Alchemy bonus
Nightborne have Inscription bonus
These racial bonuses can have a pretty big impact on profitability.
It will take a while to get setup with KP, so don't rush to max level. Not many gold earning opportunities for a while but you can get yourself setup to profit more when 10.1 is released.
There is absolutely still gold to be made, but it is also absolutely slower and more time intensive.
There are a few paths I can speak to:
Gathering - mining & herbalism, skinning isn't worth it
Specialize (e.g. in a purple item you can t5 and max inspiration) - blacksmithing is probably best, followed by JC, then tailoring, then leatherworking, then anything else. Decent money, but you're playing Trade chat more than the rest of the game.
Low quantity, low time required, low profit - if you're short on playtime. Leatherworking > all, followed by inscription, then JC, then blacksmith/tailor.
Disenchanting - given current prices, it's unlikely you'll make much money from enchants, but specializing in disenchanting lets you loot mats out in the world. Low money, but zero time required (just play the game normally)
There are other options, but I haven't tried them personally.
I think these responses show that there are still many choices to make gold. The peaks might be lower, but that's natural at this time. The final choices depend largely on playstyle.
Are you willing to engage in trade chat and talk to potential customers?
If so then find some specialization niches for top quality items. If not, then look to shuffles, cooldowns and gathering.

There are some great addons here and it shows that there is not one addon that does everything like we used to have with TradeskillMaster in previous expansions. There is also more reliance on WeakAuras to help with keeping track of Knowledge and daily tasks.

There are a lot more utility addons Manthieus talks about in the video with timestamps, so I hightly recommend giving it a watch.
Enchanting Vellums Temporarily Disabled
Some of the professions have had a bumpy start due to unexpected problems with how they work. Tailoring cooldowns, Skinning baits and Enchanting Vellums. This last one was due to a bug that's been around since the early days where under certain circumstances, R3 enchants could be guaranteed. A few days ago, this got hotfixed by disabling the creation of Enchanting Vellums...
We’ve temporarily disabled the creation of Enchanting Vellums, while we diagnose and fix a bug.We hope to develop and deploy the fix in the next 24 hours. Until then, Enchanters can enchant items directly or use existing Enchanting scrolls, they just won’t be able to make new scrolls.Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Of course, this has caused an immediate price spike as supply drops drastically and those with stock look to unload as quickly as possible..

The prices are going to go up a little, but I don't think they're going to be THAT high. They've basically been hovering around the point where you'd just BARELY break even if you crafted with a perfect build. Barely breaking even is a pretty s**y deal when you're talking about something that costs 4000 gold to craft, though, and the mats are fluctuating by +-20% or more per day
What should theoretically happen going forward is that prices will inch upward so you make at least ~400g profit on a 4k enchant, since below that it's barely worth the effort. I doubt we'll end up with enchant prices staying double or triple what they were.
With enchants being region wide commodities, profit margins are always going to be slim and the opportunities to make gold are limited to those who spot gaps in the market or discover ways to make their crafting more profitable. It's great for the player who wants to buy things at a reasonable price, but not so great for the casual crafter who wants to put a few things on the auction house.
Hopefully, any more bugs can be highlighted quickly and addressed.

It may be early days, but now is a good time to get alts ready and up to speed with professions that you may have missed in the first round.
