introducing NPC Work Orders

NPC work orders are another system that will allow players to regularly fulfill orders and receive rewards for using their professions - unlike actual orders put in by players, they're not limited or on a first-come first-serve basis, so players shouldn't need to worry about sniping them.

On the left, an NPC order with fully provided Reagents (note the low quality) requires a Rank 3 outcome. On the right, that same order must use Concentration to complete at the required rank, as tested in the latest Beta build.

Out of the 15 or so recipes only two were learned recipes. Out of those two, only one gave first craft bonus. As he pointed out it would be nice if they personalize it a bit more for said crafter. It will be very, very frustrating for people if they have to check in 2-3 times a week to see if they have even one work order that they can do. Especially if blizzard adds in a weekly to do 'x amount' of NPC work orders. How is being forced to go to the mailbox to pickup your 10 mettle any sort of improvement over having it just added to your inventory at the table, and why does the writer believe that 10 artisans acuity will result in knowledge points and recipes?

Nowhere in the blue post does it state the NPC orders reward knowledge points; they refer to the weekly quest which requires ANY crafting order to be done in order to get knowledge points (including player orders as normal.) They don't say WHAT the "Bonus reward" for NPC orders is.

Quite frankly, this system looks like it's got scope creep already. NPC orders should not be anything except a catch up for latecomers... But some of this blue post makes it sound like it will be your primary activity. NPC Crafting Orders is the primary method for crafting professions to earn specialization knowledge and Artisan’s Acuity in The War Within for all crafting professions (except for Enchanting, which earns their weekly points via Disenchanting items). Don’t fret! Whether you join the expansion late or had a rough time with a few orders, you may begin seeing catch-up orders as early as the following week. The cadence and quantity of specialization catch-up orders increases as you fall further behind to allow for rapid catch-up especially later in the expansion’s lifecycle. Obviously, that makes sense as you learn more recipes, increase your profession level, and skill you'll be able to do more. A profession system should be more rewarding for being a higher level crafter with more recipes without being completely unusable by lower leveled ones. I'd call this the right balance.Comment by stym(duplicate)Comment by stymI think this system might remove the dependency on other players for people trying to max out their professions, which is a good thing. In DF, unless you had a ton of friends or were in an active guild, finding work orders for a 1st craft bonus was very painful, especially since sparks were a limited resource. You could eventually get there and gather all of the useful recipes and grind knowledge a bit, but my hope is that this system will make that part significantly easier.

I don't think the monetary rewards is going to be the main attractor, because Blizzard doesn't like to gratuitously inject gold in the market. You'll be there for knowledge points and maxing out your professions. Why on Azeroth would you bother when you can hop onto an alt and spam yourself the necessary work orders in a few seconds for no minimum quality, super basic and cheap to make work orders? Alt spamming will remain the superior method of completing the weekly quest.Comment by jacho981if they don't allow public orders to be max level gear, this crafting system will still be hot garbage.
also, "inspiration" and all that crap, makes people just SCAM other players by telling them to put the order at rank 4 instead of rank 5, and then just give them a rank 4 and disconnect.
