First of all, if you don’t have the TSM4.10 beta,
sign up here for free the
differences are night and day.
Since the new AH update battle pet shopping on TSM4 has been plain awful. With the old AH, a /battle pets scan was able to scan 50 pets at a time and relatively quick to show all the results of battle pets on the AH about 5-10 times faster than a group scan of all battle pets. In TSM4 a /battle pets scan can take 5-10 minutes to see all the pet prices on the AH and begin shopping.
With TSM4.10 Beta it finally takes advantage of the
instant summary results that the new AH has when you search. This shows the price of the cheapest auction, the number of auctions, and the name of the auction. You don’t get any bonus id info like levels and rarity, but for most shopping that’s fine. With TSM4.10 after 1 second you can see all pet prices and %s and begin selecting auctions to buy right after you start the scan.
- How do you start shopping for pets?
Well, it’s about as simple as it gets. Go to the browse tab, search /battle pets and that’s it. From there you can select any of the auctions you see, wait a second for it to find them, and buy as you wish!
If you want to get more specific you can be more specific in your filtering.
/battle pets/uncollected will show you all pets that you don’t have in your journal currently, if you just want to find the ones you may be sold out of to help stop you from overstocking.
You can also sort by level.
NOTE: Blizzard failed to include level sorting for level 25 battle pets in the new AH correctly so searches for them are more like TSM4 since TSM can’t know what pets are what level until it has searched each individual pet. If you just want level 1 pets you can
/battle pets/i1/i1 or if you just want level 25 pets you can do
/battle pets/i25 or even
/battle pets/i25/rare/2000g to filter out the green 25 pets that people rarely buy as well as just look for the cheap 500g-1500g pets that regularly sell in the 5k gold range and are a fun extra pet market you can expand into.
- Changing the Market Value % price source for normal browse scans
Since you’re not using a group scan, the % column on the right will use the default normal search price source. To change this you open the TSM window, go to settings, and select ‘Browse/Sniper’ on the left. From there simply put in the price source you’d like to use such as
DBRegionMarketValueAvgYou can also get fancy with
TSM4.10’s new price sources if you’d like. For example you could use something like first(shoppingopmax, dbmarket) if you’d only like to change the % for items you have shopping operations for instead of all auctions you search for without groups.
/u/Bilisonyxia always makes some
great groups for battle pets every patch and I steal from him ;)
(He has an
amazing patreon I always suggest tossing him a couple bucks, he’s helped out so much in the goldmaking community over the years! <3)
Always remember K.I.S.S. Keep it simple, stupid.
Some fancy pricing operations that change based on the day of the week and the phases of the moon sounds better at first, but the reality is you will not make as much gold as you will using an operation that you understand and can change as you like.
Start with something like an Auctioning operation that is just
90%DBRegionMarketAvg,
125%DBRegionMarketAvg, and
200%DBRegionMarketAvg for your min, norm, and max prices.
For shopping remember pets are slow, so keep profits high. I never pay over 50%DBRegionMarketAvg for my pets. And don’t just go for the high value pets, the higher the value the slower it sells. You can sell a couple pets in the 5k-15k range a day, but wait months for a pet worth over 100k gold to sell.
