Tettles discussing affixes and doesn't keep up tp date with changes. :)
Affixes have been okish i guess once you get used to it. Hard to spot though, especially in Vortex Pinnacle. As melee it is tricky as well.
To be Honest Affix this season is way more than easy
people are forced to use spell with no dmg number on them ... resulting in people not using them at all then leaving your key depleted
Explosive, anyone could deal with it. Everyone: "healer job"Afflicted, healer affix. everyone: "must bring 5 ppl that can deal with it"
It's hard not to feel like the new affixes have added to the case for disposing of affixes altogether tbh. Both Afflicted and Incorporeal are going to primarily fall on the healer (with one DPS bothering to CC if 2 incorps appear at once), while most classes have a reasonably short-CD movement buff that makes entangling trivial - 'it allows the dungeon to shine' is just another way of saying 'this does more or less nothing'. If this was the best they could do to keep affixes relevant, then nothing can save them. The whole affix formula just feels quite dated now, a final hangover from the Legion period which have either ended up watered down or outright delegated to the least-valued globals. They don't really keep dungeons fresh anymore and do very little to alter routes or tactics; they just add random annoying overlaps which are either arbitrary and unfair (quaking spawning during stack mechanics was just the most obvious example of this) or completely irrelevant. It's time to drop affixes and come up with something new to keep M+ varied.
The new affixes aren't hard, just annoying. As a healer I find most pickup groups still expect me to just do everything for them so nothing has changed really. But at least I get to use all my utility buttons.
as a holy priest main. the most annoying thing about afflicted is in dungeons like Vortex pinnacle or Underrot where theres dots that go out against players. and you get a choice between dispelling the dot and the debuff goes on everyone, or dispelling the add and that person dying. not to mention the adds are hard to see in some fights, like the first fight in vortex pinnacle that has a bunch of moving crap everywhere. and target macros not working against them. just seems like a way to punish healers specifically and letting DPS have the easy job.
Incorporeal is fine as there is a lot of stuff to deal with it, however I despise Afflicted. It spawns SO often, and only a few classes have options to deal with it quickly. If your tank is a Paladin or Druid, it's cake. It's far easier if a competent hybrid DPS specs into a cleanse. Without having 2-3 people with cleanse, including the healer, it just sucks for healers.
As a Pally, Prot or Ret, and almost always playing with a Ret friend on voice, we don't normally have any issues getting every turn evil or cleanse and those abilities are 40yard range. It isn't an issue for us AND other group members are helping without us asking them to, makes it feel like we are contributing a bunch and it isn't hard. Both of us having a designated person to BoFreedom effectively removing intangling from existing for 4 of 5 players feels great. Raging is a skill issue, trying to ensure the tank pulls a bit away from other mobs helps, and stunning a target just above 30% health feels great so you can continue to AOE. If raging mistakes are made, having a 30yard range on most hard hitting abilities kind of eliminates raging from being a big issue. As Retribution I've found it much easier to get into others keys, people are learning Paladin utility is super useful this season.
As a class who cant handle this weeks affix, I decided not to do keys, It feels so bad not being able to actually help with this one. Watching nothing being done about it and seeing the casts go off feels terrible.I think im done with affixes at this point, they make me not want to play at all anymore.
Incorp is pretty nice tbh. I’ve enjoyed all my incorp runs. Affllicted though, has felt much less nice, and seems to result in a fair amount of healer toxicity. As a preservation evoker, there aren’t many great options for continually dealing with multiple afflicted spawns. Trying to heal it up results in the choice of spamming the too weak living flame spell for a while, or using a healing cd that is probabyl best saved for saving someone else on higher keys. At least the other party members don’t just get a free pass from the pain if they don’t help out and at least one ghost survives..
Raging is the same as before, just with different mobs who NEED a soothe or cause a wipe. Before that you needed to soothe anything that's immune to CC and does groupwide undodgable damage. Now you neeed to soothe anything that does groupwide undodgable damage but can be CC'd, because you can't cc it otherwise. Imps in court of stars during the first week of new affixes come to mind. It's the exact same concept, just slightly different, equally bad / good. The new affixes are HUGE steps upwards from anything that has been introduced beforehand. Entangling doesn't bother anybody and even if you fail it, it still "only" stuns you for a few seconds, it's not an instant wipe.Incorporeal is a fair bit more punishing for failing the mechanic, a single cast that goes through often leads to a wipe, but it isn't too difficult to handle, it's just annoying. It's the worst of the three, by far, but with the hotfix to it allowing mass dispel to purge their immunity, it's probably just a "bring a priest" affix by the next time it comes around, similar to bursting.Afflicted is a solid middle ground, it's incredibly easy to play, a singular person can remove both afflicted souls if they're on top of it, without ever using any button that isn't their dispel. A single Power Word: Life crit also fully heals it. It's lovely if dps help out during more tight situations, but it's genuinely not necessary. Most groups have at least one DPS or tank who can help out and even those who don't usually don't struggle that much with it.All in all, if we compare Entangling, Afflicted and Incorporeal with affixes such as Spiteful or Storming, I can safely say I like the new ones a whole lot more. Sure Storming or Spiteful don't instantly wipe your group if you fail the mechanic, but neither do Afflicted or Entangling. And even an Incorporeal fail can be handled if people react accordingly. And well, in regards of how annoying these affixes are, I'd much rather have 10 Afflicted or Incorporeal weeks in a row than I'd have 10 Spiteful and Storming weeks in a row.The new affixes, as well as the changes to old affixes such as the +HP being removed from Bolstering feels like the people who work at Blizzard have finally started playing their own game, which is a welcome change.
New affixes are just kinda boring tbh, woohoo! I need to take a crappily placed talents for a week so I can insta delete X affix or make sure I have X class. That said i'd rather boring than just being a no play week. Speaking of no play/less fun weeks... how about remove Fort/Tyranical... clearly never gets balanced and 9/10 times just makes certain dungeons and gimmicks feel broken/and or have to run the fotm classes only. Weirdly an issue they were super quick to hotfix when Warrior and DK felt left out...For coordinated groups the affixes are nothing at all. For pugs they can be super frustrating. Sounds more like M+ and dungeons/ui/alerts design needs to be improved so that certain addons are not a hard need to trivialise content and then these bandaid fixes such as just cramming ROT dmg or 1shot gimmicks can be stopped and the game can be intuitive and fun for all players.
Tyranical / fortified needs to be removedIf blizz devs feel like the dungeons would become.super easy, witch they already are, put anothe affix in the rotation like entanglin ragin sanguine etc combination. On tyranical especially some bosses on 20 without a good group are almost imoosible but on fortified there ia no pack that can't die if your purpose is just to finish key
Cant stand the dispel affix, as blood dk my only way to deal with them is yell at my team mates or spend literally 90runepower to heal them myself or get punished for their inacation with -100% haste which will probably kill me.
