I don't know what is to celebrate here, this is just going to make things alt unfriendly.
So is it across all characters or per character? Do you get a cap of 6 per char on account? Is there a level limit? What about other realms?
Bad change. Having to earn them sucks for returning players. Even worse I'm assuming the amount of charges you can earn is capped each week because otherwise you could instantly get full 4 set the first day the catalyst opens. This means that you'll have to constantly think about whether to use your charges on an alt or save them in case your main needs charges. Overall a terrible change for seemingly no reason.
I don't mind having to earn charges or whatever but why cap it? If i have earned it i have earned it give it to me dont cap it i like to get my main up and going and then swap to 2 or 3 diffent alts this will just break up the flow makeing go back to main and keeps people from playing alts.Also don't reset charges please do it like tier 1 is frost charge tier 2 is a fire charge so on that way it makes it easyer for tmog on alts down the line.
Wonder if this means you are able to get more charges than one per week at the start.
probably need to CE to get a charge given how eager Blizzard usually are for us to get tier sets.
I really don't like this trend of main character activity leading to alt character player power for free. There's nothing wrong with grabbing some crafted gear and BOEs for your alts, but people don't even want to do that anymore, they just want to login and instantly have BIS without even playing the game. I love the catalyst system for many reasons, but enabling unhealthy FOTM swapping behaviours wasn't one of those reasons.
To all the people who said this is not a bad change, let me pose this example:During the start of season 1, you receive a piece of Catalyze-able armor at LFR ilvl, which (being the power-interested player that you are) you catalyze into tier, perhaps earning you a 2-piece bonus. (1/6 catalyze charges used)Some time later, let's say that you are progressing normal, and you get the same armor piece, at a higher ilvl. You could really use the stats, so you catalyze again. (2/6 catalyze charges used)Another piece of Catalyze-able gear also drops for you, which you immediately convert to tier. Let's be generous and assume you get 4-set like this (3/6 catalyze charges used)Let's assume you also get a +20 vault slot (ilvl 421), which turns out to be a massive upgrade to your existing tier, but is not tier. (4/6 catalyze charges used)Rinse, repeat, and pretty soon you are left without charges, and with no possibility to ever gain another charge, but also, with gear that are massive ilvl upgrades, but cannot be used, because you would lose your 4-set if you wore them.Also, to get ahead of those that will say "this is rubbish, of course these will be weekly", I will state that this is not currently stated this way. Let's be generous, however and consider that possibility: you get up to 6 charges per week, per character. I can see the following:
