Wait do people actually want to play builds that are not meta? Usually everyone just copies same build and doesn't change anything.
I'd much more enjoy a system where respecs are very costly so that the choices matter a lot and characters have actual identity. Feels weird for a sorceress to be a master of fire one day and suddenly be a master of lightning. Making a new character is already so easy in Diablo, that it is such a minor cost and much more fun/flavor to have characters with actual identities in a ROLE-playing game.
i will never get why the obsession about putting walls to control and prevent player freedom that are not even useful or meaninfulits just so weird this thing about controlling player's fun, just let people try builds and spells, they are damn talent points, there is no skill or challenge about clicking a button lets remove this 1990s boomer mechanics that makes no sense anymore
imho it should cost decent amount, but idk what amount. One of the best D2 mechanics was immunes and if they somehow add this to D4 it would be so much better for the game and respec value would be even higher. I played D3 for 3 days this season and it's became boring even with new "content" one of the reasons imho is 0 respec cost, they 100% should avoid that in the new game. As soon as i found tal set for my wizard i immediately could clear GR 50 lvls higher than i could w/o it and one of the main reason was 0 respec costs. Insta droped, 0 interest in a game. Same with infinity/enigma in D2 but at least it's way harder to obtain and you should switch some points in your build.
