In the upcoming Season 5 of Diablo 4, Weapon Types are receiving some alterations and some of their restrictions are being lifted to allow for more freedom and customization for a number of Classes! When the Season goes live, Classes such as Sorcerers will be able to use One-Handed Swords and Maces, which can open up exciting, new possibilities due to being able to use

More Weapon Types are now available to more Classes.
Druids can now use Polearms, One-Handed Swords, and Daggers.
Necromancers can now use Maces and Axes. This includes

Sorcerers can now use One-Handed Swords and One-Handed Maces. This includes and being usable for Sorcerers.
Inherent Affixes on multiple Weapon Types have been changed.
Axes inherent Affix changed from Damage to Healthy Enemies to Damage Over Time.
Wands inherent Affix changed from Lucky Hit Chance to Vulnerable Damage.
Scythes inherent Affix changed from Life on Kill to Summoning Damage.
Staffs inherent Affix changed from Damage to Crowd Controlled Enemies to Damage Over Time.
Bows inherent Affix changed from Damage to Distant Enemies to Critical Strike Damage.
Polearms inherent Affix changed from Damage to Injured Enemies to Vulnerable Damage.
Focus and Totem inherent Affix changed from Cooldown Reduction to Lucky Hit Chance.
Alongside the changes to Class restrictions for Weapon Types are a number of changes to almost all of the Weapon Inherent Affixes - the baseline stat that is tied to a specific Weapon Type such as Critical Strike Damage. Many of these have been removed, such as Cooldown Reduction for Focuses and Totems (which may be disappointing for some players). Other types have been forced into a more specific function such as Axes which now give Increased Damage Over Time.
Should Blizzard remove any more restrictions to Classes with Weapon Types, or will doing so potentially erode away core Class fantasy? Should the floodgates be released, allowing everyone to use everything just like Diablo 2? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
