Bwonsamdi's story continues in Patch 8.1 with the Blood Moon Rising Cutscene. Story spoilers.
The
Battle of Dazar'alor
finds King Rastakhan in a dire predicament. The Alliance have launched a surprise attack on the city, after sneaking into the Treasury to reclaim the Abyssal Scepter and staging a fake attack on the shores of Nazmir. Left undefended, the city proves easy for the Alliance to attack.
Rastakhan does not want to surrender to the Alliance, and instead calls upon Bwonsamdi for assistance when he realizes the city is in trouble. Previously, Rastakhan entered into a desperate deal with Bwonsamdi to fight back against Zul. He's a bit pushier now than when he first made the deal, demanding Bwonsamdi assist him or else, in defeat, Bwonsamdi will fade into obscurity.
As with all PTR cutscenes do note that things are subject to change and not final. For example, music may be added.
King Rastakhan: Bwonsamdi!
Bwonsamdi: Oh my my my...Does da mighty Rastakhan need ol' Bwonsamdi's help yet again?
Rastakhan: Aid us...or you will be de loa of a ruined kingdom with no one to remember your name.
Bwonsamdi; Hmph.
Bwonsamdi: Rise, fallen ones!
Bwonsamdi: Zandalar be ours... FOREVER!
In response, Bwonsamdi raises the Blood Moon, which we've seen previously at his necropolis in Nazmir, and summons many fallen as skeletal beings to fight. This does raise some questions--why is Bwonsamdi suddenly fine with resurrecting corpses? In a
later discussion
with Talanji, Bwonsamdi claims he's opposed to Sylvanas' tactics.
Bwonsamdi: Why would me want da Banshee Queen in charge? Nononono. Sure, I be all for war and death, but dat Sylvanas... she be tippin' da scales too far.
Bwonsamdi: Balance be important! Besides, dat one got a nasty habit of keepin' what she kills. No, ya warchief be no friend to ol' Bwonsamdi.
King Rastakhan
is ultimately the 6th boss of the Battle of Dazar'alor raid, so his pact with Bwonsamdi was unsuccessful in prolonging his life. Perhaps Bwonsamdi got tired of Rastakhan yelling for assistance, and felt Talanji would be better in charge.
We've also datamined some broadcast text related to Bwonsamdi in later parts of the raid.
After the Horde fights the gigantic ape Grong, Bwonsamdi resurrects him. The undead ape is then the Alliance version of the Grong fight.
Ohhhhhhh, what we got here now? Dis big fella look like him could be useful, eh?
Don't ya be lazy now, ape mon! Get up! Show them invaders dat dey shouldn't be messin' wit ol' Bwonsamdi.
During the King Rastakhan encounter, Bwonsamdi is called upon for assistance and seems impatient:
Ya be mighty demandin', Rastakhan! I gonna give ya da power ya seek... but ya better watch your tone.
Ya been king a long time, Rastakhan. Maybe... too long. If ya can't be gettin' da job done, perhaps dat pretty daughter of yours can.
Bwonsamdi is also happy to add new spirits to his collection:
Come on now, spirit! Ya can't let da big monkey have all da fun!
Ya fight better than me expected, outsiders. Mmm... ya gonna make a fine addition to me collection...
