The Child of Light and Shadow
Hello everyone! Last week we began the story of Shadows of Argus as we made our way to the Legion’s homeworld, met up with the Army of the Light and saved the prime naaru Xe’ra from the Xenedar. She had been weakened by sending Light’s Heart to Azeroth, but it was necessary to find the child of shadow and light. Illidan Stormrage had been prophesied to become the champion of Light not only to fight against Kil’jaeden and the Burning Legion, but also the greater threat in the universe...the Void lords. Only problem was, we actually killed him at the top of the black temple so Xe’ra showed us visions of the past, the road Illidan took, the sacrifices he made to show us how very wrong we were for killing him. We then collected his soul, brought it within Light’s Heart to the top of the Nighthold and restored it back into his body. Now here we are, the child has been brought before the Light Mother, her heart has been returned... let’s get this prophecy going.
Here Xe’ra, here’s your heart back. Thanks for sending it over to Azeroth and touch our mind in naughty places. Kneel Turalyon, kneel before your true lover. I’m sure ALleria is not jealous. Oe shiny golden eyes now, behold the beauty of the Light. Behold Xe’ra, your master.
“We are blessed to be in your presence once more, Xe’ra.”
“Turalyon... you have found the chosen one.”
Oi Illidan, she wants you mate. Can I watch?
“Illidan. From birth, the light in your eyes held such promise for the future.”
AAAAAAA MY EYES OW MY EYES
“I sacrificed that birthright long ago.”
“Do you not wish to reclaim what was lost? To be whole again?”
“The Legion’s end is all I seek.”
“My child. You’ve given so much for so little.”
“Your true potential, your redemption...lies before you. Let go of your shattered form and embrace the Light’s power.”
“I’ve traded my freedom for power before.”
“The prophecy...must be fulfilled.”
YOINK, mine now. BDSM
“Your old life has passed. The Light will forge you a new one.”
“It is not yours to take.”
“THe Light will heal your scars.”
“I AM MY SCARS”
“The Light is your destiny.”
“My destiny is my own!!!”
BAWOESSSSSSSSSSJJJJJJJJJJ, BAD TOUCH, BAD TOUCH.
“You doomed us all. BETRAYER!”
Not today Turalyon.
“Your faith has blinded you. There can be no chosen one. Only we can save ourselves.”
Xe’ra didn’t take no for an answer as Illidan rejects the prophecy. The light leaves Turalyon’s eyes and to see him wield the broken blade of Anduin Lothar is so freaking cool. Some wondered if the light was controlling him, but considering how he acts...I don’t believe that to be true. I personally think it’s more him gazing upon the Lightmother, but there will be some moments where the Light has blinded him...We’ll get to that later on.
Now this moment is probably one of the most interesting ones so far as it puts the naaru in a different perspective. They’re usually described as these holy being that can’t do anything wrong, but here we see that on a cosmic scale, they don’t really care about the will of the individual. In the grand scheme of things they’re willing to enforce their will for the greater good which is relatable to what Sargeras is trying to do. He wants to save the universe from the Void Lords by destroying it so that they can’t take over a slumbering titan spirit which is said to mean the end for the universe. In his mind life has taken root before, perhaps after scouring it, life will be reborn again.
Good or evil, all a matter of perspective, but at the end of the day I’d still sign up for team Naaru as their plan is not to destroy us all, they just want to make sure that the Voidlords do not win and they, or more specifically the prime naaru, don’t care about individuals. Not even Velen expected Xe’ra to act like this and it kinda shakes his faith when it comes to the Naaru.
They have always followed their words, have made great sacrifices because of it, but was that for the benefit of the Draenei or for the ultimate goals of the naaru? Definitely some interesting developments with a lot of room for debate and discussion, but right now the prophecy has been shattered as Illidan believes that there can’t be a chosen one and we can only save ourselves. Though she has fallen, Xe’ra’s presence is still around us and the Light within her heart can still be a source of strength for our cause. We pick up a couple of her pieces and place it within the Netherlight Crucible, but the Light alone is not enough. Without balance, there can be no harmony, another source is needed but it is a good first step.
“The Light does not die with the prime naaru, it shines within each of us. We still have our purpose. We still have a world to save. We must press on!”
“You are right, prophet. The mission still stands.”

Magni and Visions of Torment
The mission still stands before us, the battle for Argus is far from over as we take the Vindicaar to another part of the planet, the Antoran Wastes from which we can hopefully assault their seat of power, the Burning Throne.
Velen: “By the Light...what have they done to my world?”
First order of business is setting up a Lightforged beacon so that we can quickly access and reinforce our troops down below. We also check in with Illidan who lets us know that a direct assault on Antorus would be folly. The legion’s forces vastly outnumber us and they’re replacing fallen soldiers at unnatural speed. Some of these are even strong to slow him down...slightly...so breaching their stronghold will require a different plan. While we strategize on what to do, Magni Bronzebeard summons us to Krokul Hovel as he has found something that he believes could help us overcome the Legion’s infinite armies.
“The stone’s whispers steady my people’s hearts. It is curious that you hear them as well, outsider.”
Magni: “It’s fainter than the breath of the wind, but it feels so familiar to me. It’s like Azeroth’s call, only...it ain’t her.”
He’s been hearing whispers ever since we arrived on Argus and is convinced that the planet has a titan as well, similar to how Azeroth has one. It’s trying to reach out to us, tell us something and the broken have a relic, a sacred stone, which they hear whispers from and might have some sort of link to Argus itself.
“When Azeroth’s spirit speaks to me, it’s like a song. There’s beauty in it, even when her message ain’t exactly clear. Argus’s soul ain’t like that. He’s tormented...broken. Careful, or his pain will overwhelm ye!”
“Place your hand upon the stone when you’re ready.”
Place hand on the stone, cinematic:
‘He...He needs us to see something.”
Ow hello Aggramar!
“What is your bidding, master?”
“The circle nears completion. The mortals must not disrupt the rebirth. “
“Those who will not serve shall be destroyed. It is the only way.”
“Become the instrument of my wrath once again, Aggramar. End this incursion of the Light.”
Aggramar once stood shoulder to shoulder with Sargeras as they fought against the evil of the universe, imprisoned the demons on the planet of Mardum. Yet Sargeras discovered that the Voidlords wanted to corrupt a slumbering titan spirit, turn it to their dark will too which the old gods were send into the physical universe to make it so. If they succeeded, it would awaken as an unspeakably dark creature. No power in creation, not even the Pantheon, could stand against it. In time, the warped titan would consume all matter and energy in the universe, bringing every mote of existence under the void lord’s will. Sargeras could not let this happen and went about creating his burning legion, in his mind only by burning away all of creation could they stand a chance of thwarting the void lord’s ultimate goal. Even a lifeless universe was better than one dominated by the Void. Life had taken root in the cosmos once before. Perhaps after the physical universe was scoured of corruption, life would take root once again. The rest of the Pantheon did not agree with his mindset, did not believe that this was the right way and with Azeroth they had imprisoned the old gods and given the world, the slumbering soul a chance to mature. One day it could even be more powerful then Sargeras was and stand with them against the darkness of the Voidlords so they tried to reason with Sargeras, but he had made up his mind.
Despite already having fought with Sargeras and shattering his blade in the process, Aggramar still believed that there was something noble still lingering deep in the former champion’s heart. As a last restort, he laid down his arms and approached the fallen titan. Aggramar recounted tales of their glorious battles against demons, reminding Sargeras of the sacred oaths they had sworn to protect creation. But Sargeras was set in his ways. Nothing the Pantheon could say – nothing even his cherish protégé could say – would ever change his mind. With a howl of rage and sorrow, Sargeras struck Aggramar down, his ruined fel blade nearly cleaving the titan in two. The rest of the pantheon then also engaged Sargeras but as they were weak to fel, they were defeated as well. Just before striking the final blow, they managed to send their spirits back to Azeroth to house within the keepers they had created, which Sargeras had no idea about. He thought that he won and now knew of a world soul called Azeroth, its whereabouts a mystery, but he knew that in time he would find this world soul.
That’s the story that we learned from Chronicles volume 1, but here we have Aggramar serving the dark titan. They asked Ian Hazzikostas about this
during Gamescom
who explained that pieces of the titans soul essence remained. Sargeras had a lot of time to work with them and what we see here is not the actual titan Aggramar. He’d probably be able to step on us like an ant, instead it’s similar to the avatar of Sargeras as we saw in the Tomb of Sargeras, so this would be the avatar of Aggramar infused with the power of his soul and corrupted by Sargeras. They were talking about some sort of rebirth that we must not disturb, but I want to save that for the final part as it does go over spoilers.

The Wranglers
So we know about Aggramar serving the dark titan through a warning from the world soul of Argus and we have to bring this news to Turalyon, but before we do that lets first party with the krokul a little who could use our help. They ride the Cragscalers in battle and need them to even take on the smallest of the Legion forces so we wrangle 3 of them and bring them back to base. Talbuk and Panthara roam the area, but the balance has been disrupted and the panthara risk hunting the talbuk to extinction. We give nature a hand by putting down a few of the panthara and as we do, we pick up a scroll called Birth of the Ur’zul. It contains a dark spell which steals the souls from the Krokul to create a whole new demon known as the Ur’zul and as badass as it looks, we can’t let the Legion just keep on doing this so we murder some of their ritualists and Lady Shahrazad. As a side note, the Krokul have a little shrine going on where they keep relics and mementos of their old way of life. It symbolizes all they have lost and serve as a reminder of what they fight for. There’s a helm of the burning protector taken from a fel emblazoned demon lord which they brought down as they were searching for survivors after the Legion made their mark on this world. An Annihilan shackle reminding them of the time when withering slaves of the Annihilan pits held their ground in a rebellious effort to free their people and a damage scythe.
This one is crafted by an ancient krokul smith, its markings revealing a strenuous history of battle between the Burning Legion and the Krokul. Coincidently, this is also the weapon used xzby some of the broken from draenor, you might remember seeing a pair in the hands of Akama.
The most interesting memento in this cave is the Shrine of the Great Warrior:
Long after the emerald flame took our home, the Legion took to open a gate to a new world. Never had they lusted for any conquest as much as this lush, primitive land. Just as their armies set forth, a green skinned warrior stepped through the gate. He wielded a single blade – and roared a single cry for battle. Mountains of flesh and bone grew as he carved through the demons’ ranks. His defiance drew the attention of the Dark One – who came to see his end. The warrior struck but one blow before he fell, but it was never forgotten. This shrine is the bad ass orc Broxigar who went back in time to the period of the war of the ancients and laid down his life to hold of Sargeras, to give them enough time to shut down the portal. The blade, the axe of Cenarius found its way back to our world and is now in the hands of his niece Thura, but Broxigar was impaled upon the broken blade of Sargeras.
Jerek is kind enough to offer us one of his fastest cragscalers to take us back to Chieftain Hatuun who needs us to send out our followers to pick up some of the supplies they had to leave behind as they ran from one hovel to the next, moving each time the Legion discovered them. Food, tools, weapons, they’re out there waiting to be picked up so our followers do just that and in return, the Krokul Ridgestalkers will help our forces navigate through Argus. The other mission that he has takes our followers into Nath’raxas hold where one one of two fates awaits their krokul prisoners. Either they consume the fel and become a willing soldier in their infinite army or they’re mutated into the demonic Ur’zul. While the Army of Light has their attention, this is the perfect opportunity to go in and save some of his people.

Nath’raxas Hold
As our followers go about on their mission, we report back to Turalyon and inform him about what we’ve learned, that Aggramar has been raised to serve Sargeras.
“A titan...the Legion must have harnessed the power of its soul to regenerate its armies in the Nether! If we can destroy it, the infinite army...”
“Would become finite. Taking away the Legion’s advantage would give us our best chance to save Azeroth.”
“I will meet you at our staging ground near Nath’raxas. The Vindicaar must be ready to help us secure the hold at a moment’s notice.”
I assume that what they mean is that they can regenerate their armies quicker rather than the demons can only regenerate because of the power of the titan’s soul because that wouldn’t make any sense with the demons only being able to die within the twisting nether. Either way we have a secure piece of land near Nath’raxas hold, one of the Legion’s chief military fortification on the planet. If we strike it now and we strike it hard, we may be able to tip the scales in our favor and buy us the time that we need to prepare a full assault on Antorus.
“I won’t risk our forces on the spire without that Warframe backing us.”
“It will be ready, High Exarch. You have my word.”
We need that bad ass Light's Warframe up and running to have a chance at taking the hold and to fix it, Romuul needs to collect a few part from the battlefield, remains of battles past. Velen has us looking out for our fallen warriors, sanctifying the corpses that we find while Illidan wants us to disrupt their numbers by killing a whole bunch of their forces and 1 nathrezim banelord.
“Already their ranks crumble. We must press the attack.”
With the parts gathered, the Warframe is almost operational but it needs a good jolt to revitalize its systems. Warlocks in the pools down below use pieces of Argus infused with fel energy to create living siege weapons. If we can collect one of their felcores, that would be just the thing we need to get this vehicle of light going. Meanwhile Illidan has us focus on the spires of woe the clear the way for our troops while Alleria wants us to take out 2 Shivarra priestesses who are are part of Sargeras’ inner circle. His chosen never leave the walls of Antorus so this is a great opportunity to take them out.
Lady Heretica:
“You dare set foot in the sacred pools? Suffer!”
“Do you not see? Without the fel, the shadow will prevail!”
“Our crusade is the only path to redemption. All will be reborn by the masters flame!”
“You lack... vision.”
That might be, Lady Heretica, but the fel wants to kill us all the same and we have to find another way.
Without the shivarra bolstering their strength we just might stand a chance and with the final component gathered, it’s time to jump into our sexy Warframe.
“We will advance on the citadel on the ground while you clear the way ahead. Expect heavy resistance. Nath’raxas will not go down without a fight. Rendezvous in the central courtyard once he has fallen. Good luck.”
We take the lead as we fly into Nath’raxas hold clearing the way to Lord Nath’raxas. Many demons troops have gathered and reinforcements are constantly pooring in from the rifts, but we shut them down and kill a whole bunch of demons until only the ruler of the hold remains. He obtained this title as thanks for his role in delivering Argus to the Legion so lets pay him a visit and thank him personally.
“You ally yourselves with the traitorous Draenei and their Light, yet it leaves you so weak.”
“Nothing you have done here matters, mortal. We are infinite. We are Legion.”
“With my death...he...will...come...”
“The day is ours! We await you outside, champion.”
Roll outside, the ship is there, Army of Light teleports out. Ow snap he truly does come. Hello there Aggramar, you big sexy and mad you. Oeee flamey sword, I too have a weapon. Claws. Hiyaaaaa bring it on. Awww why did you teleport me out, I was about to drop this fool.
“So what Magni saw was true. Aggramar lives once more...in the service of Sargeras.”
“The power at their command is immeasurable. The Vindicaar cannot withstand their assault.”
“The titan soul of Argus is the key to breaking the Legion. Our defenses must hold long enough to destroy it or Sargeras wins.”
“I have given our plight much thought. As it currently stands, we will be destroyed if we challenge Antorus. There is one hope, one treasure that may give us the edge we need. We called it the Crown of the Triumvirate. A lifetime ago, my brothers and I crafted a relic designed to bring prosperity to all. I still possess a third of the whole. I carry it with me always, this is the eye of prophecy. The remaining fragments may still be here, on Argus. We must go to Mac’Aree where my brothers and I once ruled.”

Mac'Aree, Jewel of Argus
With Magni’s warning confirmed, they realize that we need more to stand against the Legion. We must hold out long enough to destroy the soul of Argus to break the Legion and defeat Sargeras. To Mac’Aree we go, the Jewel of Argus, where Velen and his family once lived, where many of the draenei have their roots. The place where they build up such a grand civilization that it drew the attention of Sargeras. The prophet himself joins us down below as he stares at Exodus point, lost in memory.
Cinematic:
Run, run, run as fast as you can!
Hatuun: “Talgath has turned against us!”
“No...”
Roaaaaar
“It cannot end like this. Take the others and go, prophet. We will buy you time.”
“Hatuun! You do not have to do this!”
“Please...keep my family safe.”
Hiyaaaaaaaaaa fight fight fight
“K’ure! Help us!”
Oe cool the Atamal crystals, naaru hypuh. Ahh so cool to see this take place in game
“I will hunt you across the stars, traitor! Even if it takes a thousand years!”
Here we see a memory of the past, the moment in which Velen and his people escaped from their planet, escaped serving Sargeras. This did not come without its price as several of their people, including Hatuun stayed behind to buy them some time. Some of you wondered why Hatuun was so hostile towards Velen when they first met up again, but I imagine that fighting the Legion for thousands upon thousands of years changes a person and their mindset. We also didn’t see a reuinion with his family that Velen was supposed to keep safe so it’s possible that they have fallen as the Draenei were on the run.
A nice detail is that we see the Ata’mal crystal, an ancient artifact gifted to the eredar by the holy naaru, the same relic that showed him that teaming up with Sargeras was a very bad idea, it splits up into several different crystals. This was not described in detail within the chronicles, but it was part of the novel Rise of the Horde. He felt a whisper in his mind. The crystals, where there was one, there are seven. Recover them, for you will need them. Funny enough, some of these crystals actually ended up in the hands of the orcs which supported them in their war against the Draenei. With the recent events, you have to wonder if the naaru knew that was going to happen and that it was needed for the Draenei to be where they are today. It was through the Ata’mal crystal, a gift from the naaru that Velen learned he should not ally himself with the Legion... Interesting stuff to be sure...
“Wait...something stirs. Spirits...of all those who died that day. I can still hear the naaru’s song of war. There was one who held the way open for us. She fell behind. I can feel her presence even now...but her song is bitter, distorted. “
“L’ura...”
These echoes of the past have been reliving the same battle for who knows how long, quite a long time, and it seems like they were unable to activate the defenses.
Perhaps if we finish their mission, we can bring them rest so we pick up 3 stolen pylon cores to activate the ancient pylons while also taking down Khazaduum, a hulking beast who has shattered the Argunite Matrix that power this part of Mac’Aree.
“So many were left behind... They linger, forced to relive their final moments over and over again. Perhaps the only way to end their torment is to finish what I started so very long ago. We must let these spirits finally realize their escape.”
And so we do by fixing up the shattered remains of the Argunite Matrix, these spirits or echoes of the past can finally end their long battle.
“My people will never know how I mourned for them...the depths of my regret. As Argus grew smaller and smaller in the distance, I begged the naaru to go back. ‘That is not your path,’ they told me. Is this what they intended?”
“It is time to forge our own path, my friend.”
Velen is questioning his faith, the choices he made. It’s easy to look back and doubt, but so much harder to press forward and continue on. That is what we must do though to get our hands on the Sigil of Awakening, the fragment for the Crown of the Triumvirate that was once held by Archimonde.
“Understood, I have just the person for the job. Y’mera."

As an easter egg,
Hakmud de Argus
from the Alliance
Rédeas do Mamute Túndrico do Viajante
is now back in Argus on Mac'Aree.
Of particular interest in this cutscene, we get to see a Young Prophet Velen as well as Archimonde and Kil'jaeden wearing light-themed armor at the start of their corruption.
Chegada dos Naarus
is an archaeology toy that depicts the first time the Naaru met the Eredar.
A Última Relíquia de Argus
is an additional archaeology solve with the flavor text "Before they lived on Azeroth or Draenor, the Draenei, who still called themselves the Eredar at the time, lived on Argus. When Sargeras took notice of Argus, Prophet Velen fled with some of his people, who became the Draenei. The remaining Eredar were absorbed into the Burning Legion. This simple crystal was taken from Argus when Velen fled. The inscription on the bottom reads, 'I long for Mac'Aree.'" This item ports you to a random place in Azeroth.
Many of the
Draenei Archaeology Solves
reference the former magical and elegant civilization.
Kil'jaeden
is the final boss of Sunwell Plateau and makes an appearance in the Legion
Subtlety Rogue Artifact Questline
as well as granting
Cária Almavil
the
Lâminas de Guerra Aldrachi
in the
Vengeance Demon Hunter Artifact Questline
and Varedis Felsoul the
Havoc Demon Hunter Artifact
Lâminas Gêmeas do Enganador
. He then makes a final appearance as the
last boss in Tomb of Sargeras
. Many of his actions were driven by revenge against his former friend Velen; this led him to corrupt the Orcs on Draenor to turn against the relocated Draenei. You can read about Kil'jaeden in-game with
Kil'jaeden e o Pacto Sombrio
.
Profeta Velen
is the leader of the Draenei, residing in
Exodar
. He is best known to players for appearing at the end of
The Sunwell
and reigniting the well with the fallen spirit of the naaru M'uru, so the Blood Elves could have a healthy source of magic. He also makes an appearance in the Priest Artifact questlines and
Tuure, a Luz dos Naarus
, the Holy Priest artifact, was used to help the Draenei escape from one of the worlds the Legion found them on. He also makes an appearance in alternate-reality Warlords of Draenor in
Vale da Lua Negra
. In this version, he ultimately sacrifices himself, passing on his holy mark to Yrel, so he could purify Ner'zhul's weapon: the fallen naaru K'ara, the Dark Star. You are then mailed
O Arcanum do Profeta
which starts
A última mensagem do profeta
and builds a memorial to Velen in Karabor.
In Legion, Velen has played a much larger role. In the scenario
Arauto da Luz
, we defeat the Exodar from a Legion attack--learning the demon at the end of the scenario,
General de Exército Rakeesh
, is his son. You can read the in-game dialogue when Velen realizes this
here
. Velen's next major appearance is on the
Broken Shore
in Patch 7.2. Tanks will be especially familiar with Velen as he assists players in the
O retorno do grão-lorde
artifact appearance challenge. Alliance players will also see Velen as an adviser to Anduin in the emotional
O caminho do rei
questline. Velen ultimately confronts Kil'jaeden in
A queda do Enganador
in the Tomb of Sargeras raid--where he learns he needs to let go of the past, for himself as well as his son. You can see this cinematic after
defeating Kil'jaeden
:
Gatekeeper's Challenge
Archmage Y’mera joins us at the Conservatory of the Arcane, but the construct that’s supposed to provide information to help us locate the Sigil is currently offline. We need to restore some of his power so not only stabilize some of the erratic power conduits, we also gather partially digested arcana from the panthara in the area that devour the energy to survive.
“I had hoped that would work. The lights are on but no one is home.”
“I”m going to need your help. Jostle it a bit, won’t you?”
Smack the construct, wakey wakey eggs and bacy
“I am restored.”
“Oh no...I know that voice.”
“Exile Y’mera. Why have you returned?”
“We need to—“
“Conservatory resources are not available to one of your...status.”
“Of all people to become Gatekeeper. Perhaps you had better do the talking.”
Inside this construct rests the spirit of an Eredar, one who was once the keeper of the Conservatory’s keys, custodian to all of its locks and gates. To halt the ravages of time, he placed his soul inside the construct, enabling him to watch over the place for all eternity but sadly did nothing to improve his attitude. Apparently there is some history between Quoram and Y’mera, she was exiled for something but the details are unknown.
All the same, we have to prove ourselves worthy of going after the sigil by going through 3 trials. 1 is to test our cunning by matching different colors to create the right sigil and open the way as we can see these echoes or spirits playing some sort of magical sport. Another is a test of tenacity by going through a structure with deadly lasers and arcane bombs ready to end our life.
“Try not to let the beams touch you, mind the stairs.”
“Ow you made it...wonderful...”
Even after passing this trial, Quoram keeps up his attitude and doesn’t even give us a ride back while the final trial is one of mastery, one to show our strength. We are pitched against what remains of Archimonde’s greatest pupils, those who once held such power in their own disciplines, that the Conservatory remembers them even now.
“You face Jarasum, Grand Vizier of the Conservatory!”
Sounds familiar? Y’mera provides some background information on them and Grand Vizier Jarasum while being part of the eredar oversaw much of the day to day operations in the conservatory. We know him better as Jaraxxus, the name he took for himself as he joined the legion.
“You face Jaraxxus.”
There’s also Arc-Consul Velara who worked parallel to the wakener’s guild. leading the Consulate in the pursuit of the powers of creation. Under her tutelage, they vastly expanded their ability to summon creatures of the arcane. When she joined the legion, she took the name Velysra who we saw at the Broken Shore and later during the invasion across Azeroth.
“Enough. You have proven your worth.”
Last but not least we have High Wakener Aargon who got to his position after his predecessor Thal’kiel was banished. Thal’kiel is known to warlocks as Skull of the Man’ari, one of the artifacts they obtained, and Aargon lead them deeper into the mysteries of soulbinding. The constructs that still walk these streets are his doing and within the Legion he became known as Aargoss the Soulcleaver. He too showed up at the Broken Shore and later played in part in Suramar where he was delivering prisoners to the soul engine in Felsoul Hold.
“I suppose that qualifies as a victory.”

Learn about Thal'kiel's sad story via the Artifact history book in your class hall as a Demonology Warlock. We've added the text to our
Demonology Warlock Artifact Overview
.
Lorde Jaraxxus
is one of the fan-favorite bosses, due to his catchy voice-over lines. He's also a famous Hearthstone card, referenced in
Card de Hearthstone Dourado: Lorde Jaraxxus
, a toy which turns you into Jaraxxus and lets you do his signature emotes.
Learn about the original Jaraxxus abilities on our
boss article page
- he was added in Wrath of the Lich King, in the
Prova do Cruzado
raid. He was known for summoning several types of adds, including infernals from Infernal Volcanos.
The Jaraxxus encounter begins when
Walfrido Crepistala
boasts he can summon a powerful demon and things go badly. The Demonology Warlock legendary
Signo de Evocação Superior do Walfrido
references this event:
Wilfred Fizzlebang yells: Thank you, Highlord. Now, challengers, I will begin the ritual of summoning. When I am done a fearsome doomguard will appear!
Wilfred Fizzlebang yells: Prepare for oblivion!
*Wilfred Fizzlebang casts summoning spell*
Wilfred Fizzlebang yells: A-HA! I've done it! Behold the absolute power of Wilfred Fizzlebang, master summoner! You are bound to me, demon!
Lord Jaraxxus yells: Trifling gnome! Your arrogance will be your undoing!
Wilfred Fizzlebang yells: But I'm in charge here...
*Lord Jaraxxus one-shots Fizzlebang with a spell*
Lord Jaraxxus yells: Insignificant gnat!
The Fizzlebang family lives on -
Guadalupe Crepistala
, his sister, is a Warlock Class Hall Champion.
Walfrido Crepistala
also appears as a ghostly figure in the
Running of the Gnomes
event in Duskwood.
The Conservatory has many flavor NPCs that add to the atmosphere of a magical school. One such NPC is the rare
Instrutora Tarahna
who drops the toys
Pergaminho do Conservatório Azul
,
Pergaminho do Conservatório Amarelo
, and
Pergaminho do Conservatório Vermelho
. These were part of Archimonde's lesson plans.
The Defiler's Legacy
Passing the trials qualifies us to seek the Sigil but our greatest challenge still lies before us. We must go to the Praetorium and face the echo of Archimonde himself. Only by defeating the master of the Conservatory will we be worthy of the sigil.
“I cannot step hoof in the Praetorium. But you knew that, didn’t you?”
“Hmm, perhaps.”
“I have complete faith in you. I will be nearby when you are finished.”
Archimonde:
“Ah yes. It has been too long since I have humbled a pupil. Come. Face me.”
“I must confess, these trials do provide endless amusement...for me.”
“You think yourself clever for getting this far. But I know how it will end.”
“Hahaha! A worthy tribute to my Conservatory’s teachings.”
“You will do Argus proud. Claim your prize.”
Not even Archimonde himself will stand in our of obtaining the Sigil of Awakening, it radiates raw power, much like Archimonde himself. It’s far too powerful to keep it out in the open so we return to the Vindicaar and secure the Sigil.
“Archimonde was disdainful of the Sigil’s limitations. Without the rest of the Crown, it gave him little power. And power was all he ever craved. This disdain is what allowed us to recover the Sigil. Had he anticipated its value to us, heh, he most certainly would have destroyed it. I do wonder what he hoped to prove with his trials. Was the Sigil itself the test, perhaps? We are one step closer to unlocking the Vindicaar’s true potential. All that remains is the Crest of knowledge. Then the Crown will once more be whole.”

Before Archimonde was corrupted by Sargeras, he murdered Thal'kiel, an Eredar master of summoning demons that pushed too far into the Void. Thal'kiel's skull,
Caveira dos Man'ari
, served as a warning about power to the other Eredar.
In this flashback, we get to see Archimonde in his pre-corrupted form:

Conclusion
One more piece to collect, but that part of the journey we’ll save for next week and it’s pretty awesome to see how first the story is all about the Light and it’s holy pure goodness, the army of light being our salvation, flowing into a more grey area, doubt about the path taken, forging our own destiny and then next week we’ll move to the other side of coin, move deeper into Argus and dive further into its shadows.
“Without the Light, there is no Shadow, teacher.”
