Patch 4.0.6 Next Week!
I know we were wrong
last time
about when we thought 4.0.6 was going to drop, but this time we're definitely lead us to believe that Patch 4.0.6 will be dropping onto live realms during maintenance next week!
Now, we
could
be wrong again (and if I am you can feel free to blame me personally and send me angry emails) - but this time we're 99% sure! The patch (a moderate 141mb) has just hit Blizzard's download servers, which means we'll most likely see it piped into our Background Downloader with the upcoming Tuesday maintenance!
Stay tuned for updates as we get closer to weekly maintenance!

No Patch Tomorrow, Rolling Restarts Instead
Looks like RSS feed leaks have deceived us!
Despite our
last post
, it looks like patch 4.0.6 is
not
coming next week—there will be a batch of rolling restarts instead. See the blue post below:
We will be performing rolling restarts for our weekly maintenance on Tuesday, February 1st, beginning at 05:00 AM PST. Downtime for each realm is expected to be minimal, and the overall process should conclude at approximately 06:00 AM PST.

News Roundup: Archaeology Grind and Cross-Realm Heirlooms
Another quiet day, just a few quick Blue posts worth sharing!
...on the Archaeology "Grind"
Yes, I know this is a secondary profession, but the RNG involved is absolutely atrocious. After crafting my 5th "Delicate Music Box" and still getting numerous Fossil sites, even after having solved all of them, I am wondering what on earth Blizzard was thinking with this profession.
If you want to grind it out, it's going to be a grind. While the RNG of the tradeskill is sort of what makes it what it is there are some changes being thought of that could ease some of the more painful aspects. Maybe getting a common won't be a total bummer, but a fractional-bummer, and maybe even just a 'dang'.
...on Cross-Realm Heirlooms
There was a blue post on this a long time ago saying it was something they were looking to implement, Then Cata was heralded and it got put on the backburner I presume so nothing has

News Roundup: Skill in WoW, Raynor Authenticators
It's been relatively quiet on the Blizzard front - just a few bits of news worth mentioning.
Today, Bashiok talks about the definition of skill in WoW and Blizzard announces the new Raynor Starcraft II authenticators!
Skill in the World of Warcraft
How does enduring the same thing for hours on end translate into skill? Sure some might call it that, but it doesn't really translate very well in this game when guild A can't beat guild B, not because of skill, but because of having fewer hours and less "endurance."
There's proper gearing, build experimentation, skill use, rotations, situational corrections, adaptation, experimentation, group composition, communication, environmental awareness, character placement, course correction, and yeah, there's definitely a stamina component.
I will agree it isn't as simple to quantify as "This guy can fire off a shot quicker and more accurately than anyone else." but that's the nature of the game.
If you don't want to call high end raiding skill, that's fine, no skin off my horns,

Legendary - The WoW Video Podcast - 4.0.6.. RLY BLIZZ?
Woo! Blizz unleashed a tidal wave of changes to virtually every corner of WOW. It's gotten to the point where I'm worried that my Lil' Rag will have his cooking buff nerfed into the ground. In last night's episode (that we do live every Tuesday night at 9pm PST on
GameBreaker.TV
), we covered the meaty parts and were even able to squeeze in GC's "We aren't nerfing heroics" blog along with the "We are nerfing heroics" patch notes.
What changes have impacted you the most?
Would you considered the heroic changes a nerf, buff, or mix overall?
