News Roundup: Hotfixes, Honor Compensation, and Heroic Ragnaros
Paragon got world first heroic Ragnaros which is by no means a small feat! Over 500 tries later, the Firelord was downed. Other than that, we have a huge news round up and some hotfixes which were just posted.

News Round Up: Tier 11 Valor Point Hotfix, Mastery, and More
A lot of people were complaining about
valor point acquisition
being from only Firelands and heroics. They're back in tier 11 raids now as of tonight!
In other news,
Swifty got permabanned
and then got unbanned for accidentally crashing a server when thousands of level 1 alts were made. There were a lot of blue posts about that--the community managers spent the day troll policing. Poor guys, you know we love you.
Due to some recent player feedback we’ve made the decision to implement a hotfix that will put Valor Points back on the bosses in Blackwing Descent, Bastion of Twilight, and Throne of the Four Winds (except Argoloth).
We agreed that players should have some additional options for earning Valor Points beyond Firelands, Zandalari dungeons, and tier 11 Heroic difficulty raids. We don’t want raiding guilds to feel like they have to raid Firelands AND the old raids every week, but we do want players to feel like they have some options besides running ZA/ZG over and over.
Bosses in these raids will award 35 VP o

News Roundup: Latest Hotfixes, PVP Season Transition Compensation
Today brings a new batch of 4.2 hotfixes, including a number of changes and fixes to some Firelands encounters, and important details on Blizzard's planned action regarding the recent Season 9 and 10 PVP item mess. We reported on this "disaster" in
yesterday's roundup

News Roundup: Hotfixes and New Honor Gear
Blizzard sometimes makes mistakes and today was all about addressing them apparently--there are a lot of hotfixes to read that fix 4.2's bigger problems and there's also a blue explanation for the PvP gear.
Regarding the PvP gear situation for those who don't PvP (or didn't log on yet), they gave us new season 10 gear that was purchasable with honor without requirements. This came right after season 9 gear became available last week for honor and similarly without requirements. This means lot of people farmed honor all last week since new gear was available and will now have to farm it again for the ilevel increased season 10 gear--which is actually the same season 9 gear with massively increased stats.
This is a pretty major change; it's streamlining PvP gear for those who don't do RBGs or arenas much like how they streamlined valor points for those who don't raid. Much like how you can get a decent PvE set without doing heroic modes or raiding hardcore, you can now get a great PvP set without having to live in the arena. Like any major change, it's being received very negatively, largely in part to this lack of announcement and foresight.
P.S. The best hotfix? There are now more wounded defenders in Hyjal for the dailies! Se

Some 4.2-Added Hairstyles Not Yet Implemented
You guys may have seen our awesome
4.2 hairstyles preview blog
which showed off a variety of new player hairstyles being added with Patch 4.2. Unfortunately, not all of these have been implemented, but it looks like some of them made it to live...
We did have a lot of new hairstyles we had created over time up on the patch 4.2 Public Test Realms. The problem was that, even though these hairstyles were added on the test realms, many of them were not finalized or approved by our art team. Because of this, a good portion of them (about half) were pulled shortly before patch 4.2 was released on live realms, leaving only a partial implementation of new hairstyle choices.
Unfortunately, this means some races/genders now have more hair

Midsummer Fire Festival
Post
The festivities have begun as the citizens of Azeroth and Outland celebrate the hottest of seasons by playing with fire all across these worlds! You'll want to take part no matter your experience or character level, as this is one of the most rewarding holiday events of the year. It's also one of the most PvP-heavy events, so strap into your gladiator gear and get ready to desecrate or defend the Midsummer bonfires.
As with most holidays you'll want to stop by a capital city to begin the event’s main quests, including the ever-fun torch tossing challenges. While in each of the capital cities, be on the lookout for enemy players; stealing the flames from capital city bonfires is a necessary step in getting everything out of this once-a-year event.
Ultimately you'll collect Burning Blossoms through your participation in these events, a special holiday currency you’ll then spend to purchase various items and pets available from the Midsummer suppliers and m

News Roundup: On Upcoming Raid Nerfs, BlizzCon Tickets, New Support Site
Just a few new Blizzard posts today after earlier's
major update to the patch notes
, including a clarification on the decision behind the upcoming raid dungeon content nerfs. In addition, Blizzard reminds us of the upcoming (second) sale of BlizzCon tickets, available this Thursday. They've also launched a brand new support site, which allows users to submit tickets via a web interface instead of the clunky in-game method! Sounds awesome to me. :)
On 4.2 Raid Content Nerfs
I'm sure you guys noticed the
massive list of raid nerfs
coming in 4.2, intended to offer players easier access to content that they may not have gotten to experience. Blizzard has certainly learned from their past mistakes in making and then keeping content inaccessible and now wishes to keep content challenging while it's new and then as new content becomes available, gradually move previous content to a PUGable level. Is this a good thing? What do you guys think?
Plenty of people like the challenge, but not everyone has the ability or maybe even desire to be in a guild capable of tackling it right from the get-go.

News Roundup: New Tier Set Bonuses, Holy Paladin Nerfs, and Dancing
Zarhym's been a busy community manager today, posting in threads about everything from dancing to tier 12 set bonuses. If you recall last week,
we datamined the tier 12 set bonuses from the PTR
, and it generated a lot of buzz. Of course, they weren't balanced; some of them were very underwhelming and others were simply overpowered. As such, Blizzard's been looking into it this week and they have some solid revisions to offer already. They can't possibly be the final ones, though--Holy paladins would have a decent set bonus if that were true and you know Blizzard isn't
that
nice about tier sets for the class! (Kidding. Sort of.)
Other notable threads included a justification for Holy paladin mana changes in 4.2 and a thread about dancing in combat. Because dancing in combat is important.
New Tier Set Bonuses
We've seen a lot of discussion and debate over the new set bonuses. Just so everyone is aware, we're still assessing the set bonuses for tier 12 as we go through more testing and gathering more feedback.

4.2 Dungeon Journal FAQ
There's a new preview for the new Dungeon Journal feature that's supposed to be hitting World of Warcraft in 4.2. Sadly it doesn't tell us too much--essentially this feature looks like it will provide content a lot of fansites do, showing bosses and their abilities as well as providing an overview of an instance. Seems like it will be great for newer players, but more experienced ones will still prefer to use websites and forums for their information. It should be of an enormous help to pick-up groups, though. We can't wait for more information about it, so here's to hoping it gets a bigger preview soon!
