Really sucks to hear, hopefully they get this fixed asap
Wow.
I am genuinely surprised. I wonder how bad the negotiations were getting if they couldn't come together for just an extension in the meantime.
Happy Lunar New Year I guess...
And now, if we can get a reminder for the class on why they have to go through a "local licensing partner" to being with
Definitely sucks for Chinese players. Hopefully Blizzard manages to find a new local partner during this year and in the meantime I suppose private servers will get a big jump in numbers from Chinese players.
"After wife cheated on you, she asked to stay home for another 6 months until she can find next husband." Well done activation!
I love this story, specially the part where it says 大波留 埃克斯, 艾克斯 - oh man, that had me rolling.
anyone know what the issue is? does it have anything to do with money?I hope that's not the only thing, because that shouldn't be a bar for having WoW in a region
My heart breaks for our China player base. As someone who has played WoW for 15yrs, I could not imagine how they must feel. I met my wife in Azeroth. I've befriended people from all over the globe that I would have never had the opportunity to meet otherwise.
While I hope this gets resolved soon, I however do not doubt that they won't have any luck especially Since China's government has been as couchpotato2013 put it "wanting to stamp out gaming for the current youth". That is not good for business. I would not be surprised if after a year of searching Blizzard (maybe even Activision and Microsoft) decided that with the current government policies it's not worth the investment anymore and leave China. Though I doubt that would change anything it could be the one rock that causes other game companies in China to reconsider their Invesment in the game industry there. If that was to happen it might force change in China on games. I mean they got massive protest going on right now, something like having a bunch of game companies ending service in the China might just cause more problem for the government. However, at the end of the day that my opinion, though I hope it does not happen, I would not be surprised if it does sadly.
This makes that year of the rabbit 6 month resub mount so funny.
I dunno why people are assuming activision were "standing up to" netease or whatever. It's a big ass corporation, all they want is money. They probably just wanted to make more money and netease/the CCP wanted a slice of that pie. Between a multinational corporation and an authoritarian government there is no good guy here, just two conflicting interests.
