works in pvp pepelaugh
And real question is why does such basic functionality that should be available out of the box without additional configuration requires so much additional configuration and modifier key on top of that to even work?I mean simple macro like/cast Flamestrikeshould just cast it at center of your target without any additional configuration...Also simple world marker macro for some reason works fine with @cursor/wm 1but totally bugged and doesn't work properly if you try to use it with @player, target or any other unit tokens which makes no sense...
Cool - although I never really got into the “get rid of hassle of having to use reticule”
I still need a macro to keep the tanks still with the mobs. :P

I thought they killed these macros... guess not.
Or just get rid of ceiling colision on dungeons and raids, where you normally dont touch the ceilings
This is obviously not intended and will probably get patched, the game is getting confused by the self-cast keybind and a macro using that same modifier with @target, @focus, etc.
This is why I liked SWTOR's aoe targeting system more. You could manually place it if you wanted to, or if you had something targeted just press the keybind twice and voila.
I am sure the "/cast @target" always worked even w/o the modifier its not new
This is gonna get nerfed for sure. This means a hunter or shaman can cast their vision spells (eg: Far Sight) on enemy flag carriers without having LoS of them from unlimited range.Would be very useful as a spam flare/dnd/leap macro while hunting stealthed targets. On the note of Heroic Leap.. this means Heroic Leap and Grappling Hook are literally just Charge abilities now if you don't have to aim them.Spirit Link, Earthen Wall, Priest Barrier, Vesper Totem, DH Meta, ALL HUNTER TRAPS.. and the list goes on.My god, this will be broken until fixed.
I love how instead of blizzard not doing the obvious as not putting collision meshes where they don't belong we have to resort to stuff like this.
There are many reasons why Blizzard didn't want reticule spells to be cast on targets, because it allows various kinds of exploits. Other players or enemies should not be able to control the position of your spells - so this will most certainly get fixed again. This is not about accessibility, even if it would benefit them, but it strongly trivializes various mechanics and has a huge impact in both pvp and pve, and will not remain.Everytime you have to do several steps to make something work with a special macro, you can be sure its not quite intended. Use self-cast to cast on target? Should be obvious its a bug.
is this good or bad ?
Glad to see some macro lessons being posted. I'm sure there's a ton of threads in stuff, but this is the first time I've seen it posted on the front page. I used use a lot of macros for character fluff and random mounts or random portals on my mage(s). Would love to see more stuff like this.Or be redirected to some more of it >,>
There is a reason why you need additional modifiers - you arent supposed to have @target macros as it opens a whole other can of worms. Most likely will be fixed shortly.
I don't know what everyone is seeing but, I don't have this option at all in my interface under combat.
I'd like this to just be a macro conditional instead of this weird self cast interaction. It's really something I'd like more control of on a per spell basis. I like the functionality but don't want to have to majorly redo my keybind setup to use it. For me I'd like a choice in the functionality; if I have a target Flamestrike would cast @target but if I don't have a target Flamestrike is free place. But the opposing functionality for spells like Effloresnece. Default behavior free place, mod behavior @mouseover (how it works currently)Being able to do either based on how the player wants the spells default behavior would be nice. However, if you want the default behavior to be @targe hitting shift + alt(selfcast) or Ctrl + alt(selfcast) for any spells you've bound to actionbars with modifiers just sucks. The only way I could personally find to use this cool functionality is to make sure the macro is on an actionbar which uses no modifiers. So all that needs to be held is alt. Though I would prefer if the default behavior for something like Flamestrike was @target with a modifiier for free place. There doesn't really seem to be a way to do this. Have it set so the default behavior is to cast the spell @target /@focus/ @mouseover but having a modifier held to free place it. E.g. Normally you just want to Efflorescence or Ashen right on the mobs/players but in some situations you want to be able to free place them where the mob/players will be in the future.
