"We told the guy fixing the tailoring CD bug to come back into the office" "And?""He quit, sir. Looks like it'll take us another 6 months to fix"
What's wrong with work orders? Ever since blizz removed the requirement of attaching every material needed, it's 99% scamfest. THAT'S the problem.
I think I haven't seen a single engineering work order available in months, but what did I expect? It's engineering...
By your own words: people who are playing the game the way it is designed/they're encouraged to are enjoying it. You aren't enjoying it because you play an MMO as a single player game. I know its hard to step away from something you've spent so much time on, but its probably for the best all around. Hope you have fun in classic or wherever else you find yourself.Obligatory can I have your gold when you quit?
I think that generally, as a crafter, the crafting system is fine. I think the issue is with those who would like to put in work orders. It seems like quite a lot don't understand that, for public work orders, we only have a very limited number that we can do during a week. Therefore most of us are selective about when to use those precious work orders. IE .. it has to be worth our while "wasting" a work order slot.Another issue is that it's not something that's easy to understand, for a casual player. Even the profession "tools" .. you have to essentially guess what you need .. at the very least, those empty boxes in your professions interface should, when you hover over them, show what you COULD put in them, and what profession makes them (a bit like the hover-over box for embellishments, for example). I think they should include the work order interface as an additional tab at the auction house, then it's all there in one area, you don't have to go off to find some random NPC elsewhere and if you need extra materials to put with the work order .. you're already there at the auction house. Finally, as many people have already mentioned ever since the new system came out .. some people are either lazy, exceedingly hopeful, or complete chancers, putting in work orders without including all the materials, and only a minimal commission that never covers the cost of the materials. I did start going through a process of putting everyone on "ignore" who did that, but I'm pretty sure my ignore list can't cope with that many names, so instead I use the addon mentioned here a while back: https://www.cuckhead.com/news/no-mats-no-make-addon-spotlight-shows-public-work-orders-without-mats-provided-332145 - which is excellent and I thoroughly recommend, as not only does it filter those people out (or you can adjust the filter), but also reduces your blood pressure :PFor guilds, although I understand that essentially guilds are currently getting precisely zero love, and have been in the same position now for many years, it would be great if they could update the roster>professions list to show what RANK of an item a guild member can make, too.
I just put in a work order for a Dragon Hunter's Bow in Valdraxxen yesterday. I looked up the recipe, and I made my best effort to get the best possible materials and optional reagents. I had a guildie lined up but they were not able to be in game yesterday, and I *really* wanted that bow, so I posted it publicly. I put a 7,500 gold commission on top. Someone named Nyancat picked up the order. The result? In less than ten minutes I have an R5 Dragon Hunter's Bow, and I am now the best geared I have ever been in this game. If I could find Nyancat, I would send them another 5k gold just for being so professional, nice and *fast*.THANK YOU NYANCAT for making my first experience with Work Orders so painless and pleasant. Seriously, if you are on A-52 and know Nyancat, send your business their way. Or send them to find Embersoot, I have some gold for them. :)
Honestly, I've been crafting since day 1 of the expac and I've done probably a couple of thousand crafts, and of all those I've had maybe 10 instances of these kinds of toxic buyers. It's not common. The 'I've no money' guys exist, sure. So does the 'can I haz 1k for mount' beggars in cities. Just say 'well, I charge X, sorry'. Few people actually try to beg off a 5-10k commission charge tho.I've never had someone try to get a discount for asking me to recraft an item made by someone else. Ever. I've had people come back to me to recraft an item I made at a higher ilvl later, and I usually discount them the amount they paid for the craft the first time. I charge based on ilvl of the final product, so you're going to be paying the same amount for crafting a 447 item regardless of if you get it crafted at 424 first. The 'you're just pressing a button' guys don't really exist anymore; there were a few of them back at the very start but it quickly became quite clear at that point that there were only 4 or 5 people on the whole server who could 'just press a button' and produce Q5 items in that slot, so they died out fast. 'Just a change of stats' guys, I've again only really ever had someone request a discount on this when I'm the original crafter, and I don't mind that. I've already been paid for the item.As for people who need everything explained to them... well, I charge a reasonably high commission for something that doesn't require much of me here and now, so I don't really mind explaining a bit. It's not like it stops me from serving other customers at the same time, and you can make some friends that way. I'm a preferred supplier for several guilds on my seerver now precisely because of that level of service.
whats wrong with pvp cr/mmr, please fix it!
Not even a comment or mention of patch 10.1.5 and the current investments that are probably needed to prepare? Yet another useless wrap up..
The instant someone starts asking how to do something after contacting me for a craft I just stop responding and move on to the next client. It's not worth my time to spend 20 mins talking to every person and instructing them on how the crafting system works, not my responsibility.
Hahaha, love all the "I hate dealing with people"... still remember all the "wow, I love this new system, I'm interacting so much with other players! I love talk and help people!" hahahaPeople should just be honest instead of trying to appear that they love it (while also talking about using a bot to do it for them in one of the older wrapups, lol).Anyway "Don’t ascribe to malice what could be explained by ignorance.". Always assume malice, there is no ignorance in thousands of "no mats" 1s, 1g orders for items that cost a lot more and also can be sold in the AH for a huge profit (and also has 0 skill up, like the curios). The game at least should not let put a tip that is lower than the vendor price for each item. Also, some items should never be tied to work orders, like the crests for crafting or the curios. They should be just something that the player gather and use as crafting materials (or to summon the rare) like it was before.
My overall issue with the crafting order system is that it forces me to choose between playing the game or sitting idle in town spamming trade with a macro to make gold. It's ^&*!ing bull$%^&. I want to play the game. I want to raid, do keystone dungeons, and engage in world content. I do NOT want to sit around in Valdrakken in order for my professions to pay off.
Being able to supply no materials on orders; toxic for public orders and the chancers you see; little bit useful for orders i send my self so i don't have to move materials around. would not be sad if this was removed entirely.Personally I don't like the game play current crafting orders promotes with spamming of trade chat; this is not a good gaming experience for buyer or one I want to engage in as a crafter. The building up a relationship with the specialist crafter is a fallacy; most people don't always overlap playtime, so you are either waiting or looking for a new crafter. The non deterministic "inspiration" of getting the higher quality requires this type of game play; replacing this and allowing crafting to guarantee max quality would remove the need for trade chat spam.
Let us also not forget that some items people want crafted requires you to go to the Altar of Decay at the end of a god damn dungeon (ie Witherrot Tome) so it makes the crafting system even dumber than intended.
Yeah ... I’ve kind of relegated to just trying to make money on the AH. I have grown to hate dealing with work orders most of the time. Once in a blue moon i do a private order or a public order ... most of the timeI fulfill the quest by having my alts make orders becuase people never place orders for recipes I have. I think they should partially revert the regional AH Changes by making the regions smaller ... or even just revert the change altogether for all current expac items.
Is this just a "boo buyers bad" post? Seeing crafters charge 30-50k per craft and they still complaining they aren't being paid enough.
Personally I feel like it's fair to tip a couple thousand if yours supplying all the materials for a craft. If the crafted doesn't think that's worth it they don't have to craft it, but as a buyer if I invest that much I don't think I should essentially pay double the cost of the materials.Even with all the work I've put into leveling my professions this expac I'd be jazzed to get 1-2k for a work order I fulfill.
