Again, how frickin beautiful and massive were these sets. This one for “Medivh’s font” at the top of Karazhan. pic.twitter.com/UJM00lPC5a— Duncan Jones (@ManMadeMoon) July 20, 2018

Bill Westenhoffer the CFC sup and I calle fit the “small world” effect. In a single shot, you can sometimes see three different environments. Desert, snow capped peaks, lush Forrest. Very effective, but intentionally not “realistic” as in like Earth.— Duncan Jones (@ManMadeMoon) July 20, 2018

That was a bad movie
I disagree.
movie was good, not perfect but good, I hope they make another one
Awh, would've loved to see some trolls in action...Perhaps one day we'll get some Warcraft movie action again, but unlikely... Guess we'll have to make do with cinematics, which are awesome, granted.
Movie's issue is the audience it was aimed for. They aimed it to the wider audience, so they had to make changes to the story, so it would be better digestable and less overwhealming - effectively cutting out half of the stuff. But without the 1st half, the other half did not make any sence at all, so they had to alter it. BUT - the way movie's story is told is good. Not the best, but good. Environment and CGI is (sorry for explicit laguege) *!@#ing glorious. Yes, some minor details here and there, but unless you are looking explicitly for the mistakes, you will not notice them. Casting could be different in some cases (Llane's was bad pick imo, Lothar could have someone... well, more "knight looking" - but he did his job well), but in other cases they nailed it (Gul'dan - I know, CGIed, but the voice and moves were great; Khadgar in the movie is the Khadgar I imagined while reading the Last Guardian). In overall, I dare to say this is very good movie. Not the best, but good. I tested few of my friends who have no clue about Warcraft and they liked it with just a few complaints (basically those listed above regarding cast). Players have different opinions, but the one about "good job, not the best - but good" is in majority. Goal of the movie was achieved. As for me: I hope they make a sequel. And Starcraft series, probably in association with Netflix.
as do I, personally I thought it was a very well mad film.. and hopefully first of many! with so much rich story to tell.
Saw it with guildies. Had fun. Wouldn't go out of my way to see it again, but glad I had that experience with them.
They screwed up Orgrim too much with making him Frostwolf and his betrayal of his best friend (and chieftain in film) Durotan, never even mentioned that Medivh was possessed by Sargeras, they played the Alliance card too soon instead of saving that for another movie, they made Gul'dan the leader of the Horde instead of Blackhand and gave Gul'dan a more public image instead of the manipulator behinde the scenes, the romance between Garona and Lothar was pointless, Alodi was just about pointless, the Horde didn't get their victory to show they were a real threat and we aren't getting the Second War between the Horde and the northern kingdoms all because the Humans won and Stormwind survived (the complete opposite end of the First War).Overall the film had potental but they just changed too much.
The movie was "okayish", you just cant make exact copy of the game. Plus lots of things have been retconned since Warcraft 1. But my fellow friends from US failed to make it a big hit. They choose conjuring 2 instead. and THAT was bad. Not the movie.
Such a shame. I believe Duncan Jones did all he could for the movie to be great. He's a good directoror, very precise and passionate about Warcraft too. The movie flop can only be blamed on Legendary studios, who edited the movie for theater release and BUTCHERED it. But Duncan was powerless against this. He made a good movie. Universal @#$%ed it up in post prod.Legendary studios denied Duncan his Directors Cut release. Poor Duncan, I bet he wishes he could have had a free hand at the movie, it would do goos and he would be directing a sequal rn.
I hope someday we get a Sequel series. A lot more couold be shown without being restricted by a 2 hour limit
The orc actors and scenes were great, the human casting was god awful. Not a single human actor fit the role they were assigned, and it destroyed the movie.
THe movie sucked because they tried to portray orcs as the "good" guys, I bet that was Chris Metzens fault, he let his ego get in the way and that was the main reason the movie flopped.Stop humanizing the Orcs, let them talk in Orc language, dont have stupid scenes with Orc babies and stupid lovescenes between humans and Orcs, take a look at Lord of the Rings. This movie was garbage trash.Christ Metzen had to much influence over the movie, let the movie makers do their thing, Metzen can go practise his Orc Voice for the next Blizzcon.
I think they should make another movie that is 100% CGI/animated. That clearly works across many genres and I would imagine is easier and cheaper than building all those crazy sets.
eh the movie was passable but the props design was awesome and it was visually amazingI imagine if they gave Duncan free reign to do a 3 hour movie or something the story would be more coherent
The film had casting issues - as much as I love it, the casting for Garona and Llane... Meh.Like, seriously, all Orcs are perfectly, 100% realistically CGI'd, while Garona is just a human lady painted green with plastic fangs slapped on her face. This was a very, very weird decision. I understand, Paula Patton is amazing, but this role should be IMHO CGI'd as every other non-human.
Troll invasioN! :O
I would LOVE to see a super long director's cut of it!
It is a movie that is very bittersweet to me. As great as it is to see some Azerothian settings and heroes and gryphons, etc., the movie is frankly terrible. I feel said for Duncan and for everyone who obviously worked so very hard on the film. The finished product unfortunately is not good.
