Sooooo.... Uldorus as the next raid in 10.1, fighting infinite dragonflight ?
There's nothing new about the fact that Titans were following their own goals, we knew it ever since Algalon, who was following their program which was "wipe out everything if something contaminates the planet", and he witnessed countless planets being purged when they were wrong.Whole Legion thing with them being "good" seems like a last minute change on a part of Blizzard because "oh ^&*!, we can't have a patch with just demons, let's move Kil'Jaeden to the previous patch end, and add titan fights to Argus"
W(h)elp, damn.
I am loving the direction these messages are taking. Titans have always been ignorant to mortal races and it is nice to further delve into this.
Hmm. I guess that's why Yoggy claimed to be the "God of Death". As I guessed, Tyr has a different perspective to Odyn's jerk nature, which is funny because they're clearly obsessed with not having dissenting opinions. What bothers me about this is Danuser told us this was coming a while back when he said something like "we haven't seen what it's like when we're not on the titan's good side" or whatever it was to start the degradation of the Chronicle lore. I'll give him points for starting to get his facts straight - But if this was always the case, then the Titans would NOT be happy that we accessed the Shadowlands, and we should have had some indication of that before they use it to villain bat them.
Also they seem to, this far, be picturing yogg-saron as the most influential old god of the known 4. But how can an old god have necromantic powers and create undead creatures ? I think there was a quest that explained that resurrection can happen both with light or death magic... So necromancy isn't death magic and can be fueled by either death, light and void now ? (I think the quest was the one with Calia Menethil in Maldraxus)
Looks like they are finally taking Warcraft's cosmic level lore to a proper direction (right or wrong is subjective) after being "done" with Sargeras and his shenanigans. But at what cost tho? They literally butchered all that great lore in SL, which by the looks of it, was to pack things up in hurry to keep heading towards the higher grounds. Fingers crossed they are really thinking through it for long term and will take their time to build things up and develop some lore with meaningful journey to the destination.
So old gods are good because they try to free us from titan control?
The biggest issue with Blizzard writing here, and everywhere else, is that they don't adhere to the fundamental principle of writing: show, don't tell.Videogames are one of the most flexible media with so many possibilities of presenting information to the audience when player is given absolute agency. Come on, the one way they've always used when dealing with the Titans - doing it through a construct tasked with storing information in a way that is still open to interpretation - was still there. Instead, we get this exposition piled onto us in the form of sickeningly formal conclusive letters. The old style of presenation used in Classic expansions was very simple, but effective. Nowadays, it feels forced in a comic book sort of way where the villain has to explain his motives, because it can't be expressed in other ways.
Hmmm… do the titans take control of the aspects, because we find out the truth, and turn them into raid bosses to try and stop us?
So like Odyn, Tyr was a manipulator who saw the non-titan-forged races only as useful tools and a means to an end all along, while cloaking his manipulations of them in kindness? Bummer... I themed and named my favorite paladin transmog after him and everything.Seriously though, I like that they're adding more grey stuff like this, especially since it makes me feel a sense of betrayal for a character we haven't even seen in person (yet). Hope it pays off.
Has "order magic" ever been directly mentioned before now?An old god corrupting another big lore figure is alright I guess. I was thinking maybe Galakrond was an incarnate of Death in the same sense that the other primal drake's are elemental, plus it could play into something with the shadowlands.
I actually didn't think about the Kyrian and the Forsworn during the weekly reset yesterday. That's even though it felt really awkward to fight against them later for a time. So, I wonder if some sort of agreement can be reached for those Primalists at least. On another note, I don't think putting them in books was the best idea. I have to use PUGs, and I barely get time to loot/skin. Otherwise, I can't complain too much because I still remember Rhonin's speech about how Algalon was going to destroying Azeroth. Considering his 'solution' was that extreme, there was no reason to think that no other Titan agreed with him.Of course, I do have to remember in Legion how the Titans suddenly turned good. I guess that was to stop anybody from agreeing Sargeras. I'm much more concerned that every time a major figure turned evil, it was almost always due to corruption. And when it wasn't that, it was something equally as ridiculous.
They need to move away from vilifying old characters for the sake of it. We know the titans werent exactly loving of us, and odyn was an a-hole, but its in line with their purpose.
