These history articles are always so interesting, great memories and great effort for doing this. Thank you !
I never got the spirit wolf. At the time, no priests wanted to "waste time" on something pointless like that. I'd ask politely and explain what it was for, but because it wasn't beneficial to THEM, it was a waste of time. My early WoW days sucked, and it's a wonder how I managed to stay playing through BC. Now that it's easy to get people who enjoy dumb stuff like taming goofy cosmetic pets, there's no glitches that are fun anymore. I hope BfA has some incredibly wild pet that can be tamed that isn't intended. At least I still have my giant baby direhorn and a wolf with a sword in its head.

I missed my chance at the spirit wolf, and despite many hours camping in Twilight Highlands, have never once seen Karoma up. Seeing as how Blizzard completely changed their minds about spirit beasts being appropriate tames in the years since, it sure would be nice to bring the OG spirit wolf back. For some reason tho... still no?
I remember, when I bought a gaming magazine and there were some short articles about announced games. When I saw WoW, I could not believe it. There was just a screenshot of an orc character inventory screen prototype. I couldn`t wait!
I never had a chance at the old spirit wolf, but I nerd screamed when I FINALLY found my Karoma. I will never use another pet again!
Sadly, even though I played during the time Grimtotem Spirit Guide was available, I was a noob who didn't use external sources and thus didn't even know about them until it was too late :D
Note how the kingdom of Stormwind was named 'Azeroth' on that map. One of the most annoying retcons in Warcraft history was renaming the continent of Azeroth to "The Eastern Kingdoms". Now Azeroth refers to the planet, or possibly to the Titan inside it, or some other garbage when they finally decide on the plot of BfA and ignore everything lore-based before it.
Taming that spirit wolf is one of my favourite WoW memories. The guild I was in at the time was all about friendship and having fun, so it wasn't hard to convince our GM to bring his priest and another to bring his shaman. I've kept her (and the black armored boar from RFK, snuck in there as soon as I was high enough level) in my pet loadout ever since.
I got the wolf 11 years ago. At the time I was just excited to have a unique pet. I didn't realize that it would be retired one day. I wish I remembered which priest helped me out...
Love these articles :)! As a relatively new player it's interesting to read about these moments in WoW's history and visit the archived sites.
