BFA Azerit vibes :DGreat work
Looks pretty extensive. I wonder how easy it is to implement because most of this is already in the game and its about giving players control over the abilities and talents our characters can do.
At some point players are going to come up with enough ways to better improve WoW that they could all be used to just make a new game.
That does not look user friendly tbh, I'm getting anxious by just looking at it. Didn't really look at it very closely tho, but should I have to?
This is basically the old talent system with a new look. That system was removed cause things like "increase crit by 3%" isnt fun or engaging to work towards. You just click and forget. We need a talent system that changes how specs can play. Like the Diablo system, where different runes change how the abilities themselves work, and change their animations. Make them fun and unique, so one Fire Mage looks and feels different from another Fire Mage.
All I see is the Fatescribe room, dislike.
I wonder how easy it was to give players freedom to play the game how they wanted to.
Lots of info, and I appreciate the effort, but I sadly think the person who did this lacks insight on some classes. For example, on Havoc situation, he created a layer of talents choosing between NW (an "immunity") and 2 DPS talents. Those kind of choices are first degree of bad design.I find his rework of the baseline spec interesting, though I'd like to have Soul Fragments not to be pickable by movement if that were to happen.
.
I would love to play this version of the game, just for something fresh. I don't even know if half of this @#$% even works together the way the author thinks it might, but it is definitely very neat.
No thanks, reading through warlock its not good. Having to cast life tap for 10% of our max health every 10 seconds, demons basically gone from the class, some abilities are hilariously bad, while others are obscenely overpowered. Cool visual concept, bad ideas.
I agree with previous comments. This whole circular design seems needlessly complicated, compared to a simple tree like the one we had back in Classic. But one thing is clear, the current system we have in WoW sucks. It sucks so much that Blizzard feels the need to add a lot of stupid systems on top of it because the MoP talent design doesn't feel complex enough. So we get Conduits + Domination Shards...I wonder what fresh BS they'll come up with for 10.0.I hope they will JUST revamp the talent trees and be like "ok, this is good, we can expand on that and that's it"
Sounds like path of exile! hahaha
I mean it is visually cool but it just doesn't work IMO. the best thing blizzard can do for class design is to have classic (vanilla till cata) talent (trait) tree + modern (mop onward) talent tree with multiple mastery passive representing different play style each spec has had over the course of game + new ones they come up with (different playstyles of shadow priest has had over its history is a good example) and they let players choose what ever suits them best. and blizzard MUST balance the talents , different mastery and traits really well. you can have the best system but if there isn't a proper balance you don't actually have choice. you just play what's best and don't look/ try other playstyles.
its not bad however it isn't that different from the current system in reality just more choice. There will always be a right answer to talents like this. They need to double down on build based talents, where you can go heavily down a certain route. For example a 'Flame' build for Shamans which buff your fire abilities or a thunder build. Its currently the closest to this that it ever has been but they could do more.
Gonna be honest here, I don’t like the design of this. If we’re only able to select one ability of each ring, 90% of these abilities look mandatory for core gameplay and conflict with each other. I don’t like it. The monk one is completely terrible.
I like the structure of it. I think it provides much more flexibility and player advocacy in how a person builds their character. I haven't quite looked in depth at it, but tbh, I rly like it. The talent "trees" we have meow are obsolete, boring, and have been filled with many passive talents. I think this structure could also lead to a wonderful use of glyphs. You pick a talent then right click to choose a color, a certain spell animation, etc... I do not think blizz will use it, unfortunately, because they are too cheap and lazy to implement something this extensive. Considering the next xpac is going to be announced in April, they have already decided every major aspect of the xpac. They won't change anything large which is very unfortunate because I am sure most of it is the same-o, same-o that we have had for almost a decade meow.Great work!
