Chris Metzen has been vocal lately about the toxicity of a lot of players. I miss Chris so much!
Take care, man, you're a legend, do not forget that.
Why people even bother harassing the writers. If you have a problem with the storytelling, just quit the game. It's a simple solution.
good, it's something that's being said by some but their voices are drowned out. hopefully someone like metzen saying it rings more clearly with the community.edit: judging by some of the comments here since i posted this, guess it doesn't matter to some.
Harassment is never okay. At least someone with a well known name is calling people on it. Right on, Thrall :)
Star wars challenged the audiences perception? lmfao, no, it's just a PoS movie directed by a PoS team
I'm so sick of reading garbage like this "... who took Star Wars in directions which challenged audience perceptions" no, that isn't why people hated that trash movie, it's because he was a terrible writer, nothing made sense, he clearly never watched the original trilogy to see what the character of Luke is supposed to be like, idk why I have to argue the fact that a director who thought it was a good idea to have Carrie Fisher's frozen corpse float through space and some how live is a bad writer, if i have to tell you why that movie was garbage you're never going to understand why. the only thing "challenging" about the last jedi is trying to sit through the whole thing.
He's exactly right. It's one thing to criticize the things you love. It's an entirely different and awful thing to target individuals who are involved in making the thing that you love.Nerd culture has had a toxicity problem for years, much of it rooted in outdated stereotypes of being outsiders and outcasts. The toxicity comes from the belief that because nerds are 'underdogs,' that they can lash out however they want and it will be proportionate. That's not only a dangerous way of thinking, it's factually incorrect. In truth, nerds and geeks are pop culture now - we're not outsiders or outcasts. We're not downtrodden underdogs struggling against a world that hates and fears us. We're mainstream. We're the establishment. We're the status quo. Nobody hates you because you play D&D and collect Spider-Man memorabilia. And the sooner we accept that, the sooner we can begin purging the toxic attitudes and entitlement that have accompanied this mythical underdog status.
The problem here is, no matter what you do, it will never be enough or good enough.people are like thatyou are like thisI am like this...
He should mind his "stern language" because he would be worthless NOTHING without "nerd community"Do not bite the hand that feeds you
WoW has the same kinda problem that 'Trek and Star Wars has - toxic fandom ruining things for other people.
I would love a transcript of the interview, though I'll probably go ahead and listen to the interview sometime tomorrow.I will admit that I'm not a fan of the story direction WoW is going, and I've expressed that opinion before. That being said, I don't understand people who harass others for it, it's insane to me that some people are so upset about the state of the story that they're willing to get on Twitter and send death threats and other horrible messages. Some people are just crazy.
Its understandable the hate for change in old content, after all we all saw what happened in cata where old world got changed and never repaired simply remained unstable even if you did all the quests. For me its not that much that darnassus is gone but that night elves going to remain homeless people of SW for next 20 years+ even though something like this makes no sense. Of course alot of people are taking it to far, saw even alot of life threat, those are people who dont have much going on in life and WoW has become part of that life, you can take this as good or bad.
Well, those ppl threatening the wow teams online, should really think more about what they are doing. It is ok to be upset, I was as well, but did I twitter profanities to Christie or Terran or any other? no. People should think about it the other way, how would you feel, when you worked on something for maybe more than a year, worked hard with what you had and then seemingly everyone tell you what a garbage it is? How that feels?I am too empathic, I am told, but it is not a good way to feel, why inflict this kind of abuse on others... Some times it is best to step back a bit let the anger cool and then voice your opinion in a calmer way, that helps yourself and the ones that created the content far more than this lynch mob mentality.... celebs get that kind f hate a lot as well... no wonder some break and commit suicide... good thing I am not a celeb O_o,
I'm sure there are plenty of people who consider working as a game developer or story writer for Blizzard to be their "dream job", but I wouldn't do it if I was paid a million dollars. Just sitting around the WoW community makes me anxious, I couldn't imagine actually being the target of its constant rage-fits.
Sick and tired of this trandy "toxic" hype. There is no "toxic people". There are just people. People are people, that's what they are. But some people are so naive and under-aged and think they live among unicorns.
