Oh man, always exited to see the old Dragon Isles art pop up.
Woah!
I really hope we get to see the Dragon Isles.
Ooh, now that would be a really cool place to visit in a new expansion! (The Dragon Isles)
I love the Bronze and Infinite dragons, and I really hope their resurgeance leads to more Caverns of Time dungeons and raids. At least scenarios. I remember at the end of MoP there was some minor speculation of a Timewalker class, and I still wish we had those. At least I'd love to have a rep devoted to protecting the timeways in a way that opens up more scenarios and alternate timeline/ancient history story quests, similar to Chromie's.I think the Dragon Isles would work well as an expansion. They could have five zones to start with, one for each dragonflight. Red, we help resolve the dragon's infertility. Green, we work on bringing Ysera back and finally purifying the Emerald Nightmare entirely. Blue, we work on helping Azeroth recover more by adjusting leylines, and maybe Aluneth could return as a loose, evil force. Bronze, just have the Infinite Dragonflight's birth, and have some dungeons and scenarios based around that. Black, Wrathion finally finding a way to help his dragonflight start on the right foot.RIFT had these fun little scenarios where you briefly stepped into alternate timelines of areas and dungeons, and since I know more about WoW I'd LOVE that to be a thing. They could be like the Incursions/Legion Assaults; every now and then a place on Azeroth is attacked by the Infinite Dragonflight, we push them back through a portal to another timeline and resolve whatever issues is happening in there, like a Stormwind where the Dark Irons have taken over.
this article just reminds me that the Caverns of times is one of the most criminally underused features of the game, so many great events we've could have had as dungeons/raids by now, who cares if it seems random to stop what ever is happening in main expansion to deal with a time based issue, didn't bother us in tbc/wrath/cata
Really? Nothing on Chromatus?
I would love to see a return of the netherwing dragon flight
I still don't understand why "The Battle For The Undercity" isn't in CoT...
Blizz please! Make it happen, give us Dragon Isles. We're waiting for this for years.
The reason these isles are so elusive is the real mystery. They're not like Kul Tiras or Zandalar that we already knew existed but just didn't feel like visiting. As we saw with Pandaria it takes very powerful magic to move a landmass over the sea, but maybe that's not where they are. A theory could be that they're flying islands that drift around the sky north of Lordaeron like where they were once shown on a map.The Unscarred Black Scale quest also mentions new Black Dragons are somehow being born or created and that's also the quest that mentions the Dragon Isles. It could be a spawning-ground or safe-haven for dragons like Wyrmrest used to be. If we asked the Aspects about it they'd probably know but might not be willing to share the information with us because of this reason.
I've been expecting since Cataclysm that we would one day see for ourselves how Nozdormu turns into Murozond and that we would lean that the Murozond we faced in the End of Time was maybe just the Murozond of an alternate timeline or maybe Murozond already beatten who managed to flee the players of the future. The Bronze are being corrupted by N'Zoth, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was his ace up his sleeve, or rather, his joker card to redirect our attention.I so wanna see an expansion where each major quest-line is us repairing History, and each 'new' zone is a version from the Past or the Future of zones we already know. Or crazy alternate time-lines.Like Tirisfal before it was ravaged by the Plague, in an alternate universe where Arthas got to be a Paladin King, married Jaina and was having a glorious feast in Lordaeron City with king Varian Wrynn as a guest. And the Infinite dragons would be all like "See how peaceful this timeline looks? Don't you wish it was your timeline?"And I dunno, maybe they could show the orcs in a cooler version of Orgrimmar where Thrall never gave the reins of the Horde to Garrosh, but instead to Eitrigg or Saurfang, and we were not knee-deep in a war-crime-filled conflict.
Hopefully they repopulate and recover, they're done being the Aspects that prevent an inevitable disaster now... but that doesn't mean they can't be our allies and help! We're all Azeroth's true guardians, after all.Just hoping they don't kill of Alexstrasza, 2/5 Aspects are dead and it's a shame they have to keep dying.
Thank you for these lore compilations. It's nice to read things I've forgotten or just didn't realize what it was while doing the content.
Great write-up with just the right amount of speculation :)
And Senegos' words still doesn't make any sense to me and since it was the dragons that brought me to Warcraft, I can't let that topic for... Why can't they breed anymore exactly? I know "because Blizzard said so" but still....Because - REALLY childish - Dragons reproduce only through magic? Really? I know PG12 but "magical noseboop = child" is a bit too silly in a game with war, monsters, undead and steampunk. There are more than one points in the Lore that shows, that they (not just the aspects) reproduce physically ... It makes no sense that, with the loose of their aspects power, ALL dragons became infertile out of nowhere. I could go with the magic reason for the aspects but not the lesser dragons... I can only imagine that the eggs aren't stable enough or the embryos didn't make it because of the lack of elemental power that is needed to incubate them. Still ... It's a differens if you can't bring up an egg to hatching or if you can't produce eggs at all....
