Can't wait to see the chat messages again! "NEED JODAN" "JODAN NEED" :DD2 was such a good game at the time. Though I kinda hope they add more of an endgame to it this time around. Killing cows all day ended up boring eventually. :)
The recipe of success of D2 was something well-known in business called the "first mover advantage" -- being the first one in the market with no direct competitors back in 1997. Only replacements were available, such as Final Fantasy VII. By the time copycats came out, we were already entrenched with D2 that we were not willing to switch. I quit D2 for WoW in 2004.If this is a completely new game in 2021, it would fail badly. It would not be able to beat Path of Exile. As things stand right now, the only advantage D2: Resurrected has is nostalgia.
I remember playing Diablo 2 as a paladin and choosing as many auras as I could to empower my brother’s be necromantic army. Needless to say my character sucked on his own! But looking forward to doing the same thing again... haha
D2R is not even remotely close to be released but we already have praising articles about how awesome D2R will be.
The faces need fixing but other than that it looks really good. Actually think this will turn out great.
I am not going to pay until I see the release game, that's what blizz expect from me :)
I was a tiny bit dubious on the quality of this remastering (revival?), but then I learned that VV was working on it. It'll be fine.I'm probably not going to preorder it... but it'll be fine.
What do they need to change apart from the art assets? If they don't mess around with gameplay too much, should be fine.
I just hope they don't change the runes! I miss porting as a hammerdin or bonenecro all over the place! made rune hunting and carries so much easier and fun.
Imagine if Blizzard managed to screw this up harder than WC3: Reforged. There'd be riots in outside their gates I reckon. But here's hoping they've learned since WC3
The main thing Diablo 2 had going for it was weird builds, synergy, you could have 3-4 of the same class yet totally different builds, your choises mattered and you couldnt just press 2 buttons to change spec to what everyon else had.Magic items, gray items and all that would sometime be better than a legendary, trade value even for "crap itens" for yourself was there, diablo3 have you chase legendary after legendary and only that in some cases were not even worth looking at.Doing 5-6 runs of something almost always gave you some kind of loot progress, small or not, compared to diablo 3 for example where you could go "dry" for a long time before a good item was dropped.basic runes and gems? Save and combine or trade, its a minor or small progress, some people didnt even care, but for us others, we could always see our stash grow slowly toward the next item progression.Extremtly rare to not get anything out of a run and thats why I loved it.I also miss the runeword stuff, specially the league only.
