the ignorance and idiocy of a lot of comments here is about as sad as what is going on at Blizzard. Stop trying to take away from the employees the extra miles they are going. Yes, it's their jobs to work on the games or the roles they are hired for - but most of you reek of people who have never stepped foot in or been employed by corporate America. Going the extra mile is not "part of their job" - it shows that they are hard workers who want to show that they are more than what they were hired for. If you don't have that drive or motivation in your own life, stop being jerks trying to demean what the Blizzard employees are doing, or you are as big of a problem as Bobby Kotick is for Activision-Blizzard.
And none of it matters because Kotick is still in charge and actively making things worse for the sake of the almighty dollar
This gives me some hope that things will, eventually, get better. I would love to find a way to thank those who are working so hard, in the face of a lot of guano thrown at the company upper management and hitting those who don't deserve it. I, for one, support the folks who remain at Blizzard. Not Kotnik, but the people who are slogging in the cubicles, who actually make the game I love so much. There is a lot of disconnect from the penthouse palace to the rank-and-file floors with the awesome coders, artists, and writers and I always try to keep that in mind. I still play, daily, because of those people. They made the game fun for me. I stay for them. They made the stuff I love so much, like camping Huolon yesterday, still determined to get the mount, I wandered Timeless Isle and it was fun. They gave me that fun, I want them to know that I'm thankful for them.I hope Kotnik finally gives up and walks away--that would be the best for everyone. The new group has too many of his people on it, another rubber stamp on the things that have been wrong all along. The board needs to act, take out the CEO and the roots he's put down that have strangled the company and its creativity. They need to put in a real committee to help drive the changes and keep the best parts. Put not only some of the department heads on it, but also a few of the cubicle dwellers (I have 4 in my family in other companies, so this isn't an insult term, but one of love). You have 5 department heads, you have six of the others. Have them work on the changes, and make sure there's some method in place (online magazine by the developers and artist/writers?) to let both the inside company and the public know what is being done to solve the rest of the issues. Maybe even add a few players in, so we can help give the outside view--how this whole thing looks out here to us. I'm sticking it out until they pull the plug on the game. I will mourn when/if that ever happens. I hope it's long after I'm gone (because I'm one of the Granny gamers out here, that can be sooner than later.) I stay because of the people represented in these tweets, to support them and keep them in their jobs. if it was just Kotnik, I would have left a long time ago. Thank you, everyone. Thank you for given me the fun I enjoy.
Need a slime mount now, people voted for a dumb tree nobody ever uses its too big it gets stuck on every single thing in the game.
It's a positive post so I'll ignore the cynical voices in my head on this one. This was a nice read. I'm glad there seems to be some sense of community among employees. I hope they can continue to band together to demand better treatment.
How are we going to ever make any of this stuff 'normal' if we keep treating it like it's special? For how long are we going to be calling attention to every instance of inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility? I have a problem with this apparent need to be constantly putting a spotlight on it, along with what looks like (especially at the corporate level) a push to change this stuff just for good PR. If it's not natural, it's never going to be normal. And isn't normalcy what these people are supposedly fighting for?
I still want jelly cat mount!
