Patch 4.2 Preview: Thrall's Return, World Tree Restoration
Thrall's back in this new 4.2 teaser released by Blizzard today. However, freeing him won't be easy; you'll have to face elementals as well as Thrall's own past. It's interesting that they chose to bring him back by tying him so closely to the World Tree's restoration, hinging its fate largely on freeing him from his elemental bonds.
It should be exciting to see how it plays out. Personally, we're wondering if this quest will have any room for choices. Blizzard has been alluding to the possibility that phasing in 4.2's new areas will be based on a player's choices, ultimately aiming to make Firelands a very personal experience for players. It would be quite compelling if Thrall were linked to the personalized outcome that they desire, especially given his rich history as a prominent Warcraft lore figure.

In the midst of the flood of 4.2 details they've been sharing, Blizzard have still managed to sneak in some quality posts on their forums. Today's posts include teasers for the in-game Dungeon Journal (a feature previously mentioned at BlizzCon) that will be coming with Patch 4.2, as well as some hope for engineers being tortured by their own devices.
Today also marks the triumphant return of the

Ask the Devs #5: Achievements
Got questions? Well, Blizzard might have answers--if you're one of the lucky few, anyway. The "Ask the Dev" segment is becoming quite a regular thing on the Blizzard community forums and by now you should be no stranger to it; for several weeks, we've been getting the chance to pitch a question to the brains behind World of Warcraft and have it answered. This week, they'll be talking about achievements. From how they come up with new achievements to the controversial immortal achievements, there are a lot of questions to be asked and it should be an interesting read when it gets posted next week.
Of course, it'll only be interesting if you make it! So get asking and get out your

April Fools' 2011 - We Won't Forget You, Crabby
Yet another April Fools' Day has come and gone softly into the night, leaving in its wake a bunch of jokes and rumors. This year seemed tame to the previous one, where we heard about everything from top guilds merging to aquariums being added, but sometimes tame is good--especially where being pranked is concerned. All in all, there were still some great jokes around the WoW community to be found and fun to be had.
Some of our favorites were:

News Roundup: More Complaints About the 60-80 Leveling Flow...
There have been some odds and ends this week and past that have deserved a news round-up, from a few hotfixes to some explanations of minor class changes that are slated to hit in patch 4.1. General news seems really slow lately, most likely because Blizzard has been busy ramping up for the Rise of the Zandalari release as well as preparing for the patch beyond that and its new raids.

Blizzard's Ask the Devs #3: User Interface

Blizzard's First Q+A Answered, PvP Selected Topic for Next Set
Blizzard posted their first wave of responses to the questions they got as part of
their global Q+A session they held through the forums
recently. I think a lot of us were hoping for more in-depth questions pertaining to game mechanics or the future of World of Warcraft, but there are still some interesting thoughts expressed in this set.
Of course, there will always be more questions coming up in the near future. The more controversial topic of PvP is slated to be tackled next; starting at 4PM PDT today, Blizzard will field PvP questions from players. We'll keep you updated on where to ask those questions as soon as Blizzard makes their official threads for them.
Some of the topics of the questions they were asked include:

Firelands Raid Not Coming in Patch 4.1
According to a post over at Eurogamer.net it seems Blizzard has decided to release patches more often and Firelands will
not
be in 4.1. Blizzard hasn't said anything official on this but the good news is that they want to push new features sooner, rather than waiting for huge content patches like we are currently used to.

An Epic Anniversary
There isn't much I can say about this - the title is self-explanatory. Our lovely Blizzard is no longer a teenager company, and is only one year away from legal age (in the US). I am not sure what the implications of that are, nor am I sure whether all of them can be considered legal, but the facts are here. And, as it's starting to become common, Blizz did a mini-site for the anniversary - you check it out along with the big announcement below:
http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/about/b20/
In 1991, three guys fresh out of UCLA decided to start their own game company. Their goal: make cool games and have fun doing so. Twenty years later, the company has become a world-renowned game developer and publisher, with offices across the globe and millions of players enjoying its games in more than a dozen languages.
In 2011, Blizzard Entertainment marks its 20th anniversary. Over the course of the year, we'll be celebrating two decades worth of games along with you, the community of players who made it all possible through your passion, enthusiasm, and support. Join us for a stroll down memory lane on this anniver
