Battle for Azeroth Leveling Tips
Check out our Battle for Azeroth Leveling Tips and Consumables Guide!
Recommended Zone Order
This list is based by
personal preference
and
experience
from leveling on Beta. Those are highly subjective and if a zone appeals better to you, by all means, follow whatever order suits you best!
The most efficient zone order for
Alliance
is
Drustvar > Tiragarde Sound > Stormsong Valley
.
The most efficient zone order for
Horde
is
Vol'dun > Zuldazar > Nazmir
.
Drustvar and Vol'dun are considered the harder zones, due to quests there overall requiring more grinding and being easier to do while you're still wearing Legion gear. Once your stats start dropping considerably, the harder zones will be out of the way. Nazmir and Stormsong Valley are much less grindy and should be done as the final step for your leveling. These suggestions can also be used for what order you could build your War Campaign footholds.
BFA Leveling Tips
General leveling tips to aid you on leveling faster, or make your 120 life that much easier.
Don't vendor green or better gear!
Even if you're not an enchanter, you're able to scrap BFA gear for reagents and, more importantly,
Espulsom
. Expulsom is the Battle for Azeroth version of the
Sangue di Sargeras
, used in many 120 crafts. For more information on how to activate the scrapper and use it, check our
Scrapper Guide
!
Enable War Mode!
War Mode is a new PvP setting introduced on the Battle for Azeroth pre-patch, that flags you for PvP. In exchange, you will receive 10% more experience from monster kills and quests. Unless you start the War Campaign, you won't leave your faction's continent, so you are not very likely to find yourself in PvP situations, at least in the first couple of days. For more information about War Mode, check our
War Mode Overview
!
Class Leveling Guides
The Class Leveling Guides have been updated with leveling talents recommended by our esteemed Class Writers (including War Mode suggestions, for those leveling with War Mode turned on!), as well as suggestions of what legendaries you should be aiming to use while leveling!
Here is an example section below:
Legion Legendaries (from the Warlock Guide)
Legion Legendary items can be used while leveling from 101-116 (the effects will no longer happen after 116, but can still be used as stat sticks until you earn a better item level item), and can grant a variety of bonuses to greatly aid the leveling process. While randomly dropped, they can also be purchased individually with
Essenza del Risveglio
from
Arcanomante Vridiel
in
Dalaran
, a common quest reward throughout Legion content. While there are a lot of options, any legendary is better than no legendary, so don't feel afraid of choosing the "wrong one" - whether you're moving faster, dealing more damage, or able to survive deadlier encounters, any legendary bonus will help make your leveling experience faster and smoother.
Each specialization has access to a pool of shared legendaries, as well as a few spec specific ones. Here are some recommendations:
Segreto di Sephuz
: Movement speed is all you're looking for while leveling. Faster movement means you get from point A to point B faster, meaning you level faster. Easy stuff.
Desiderio Ardente di Kil'jaeden
: Decent stat stick and on use for big pulls, and can be used even after the effect is gone for its stat stick effect.
Prydaz, Magnum Opus di Xavaric
: You should probably be wearing
Cuore di Azeroth
for the free itemlevel. You don't really need the shield from
Prydaz, Magnum Opus di Xavaric
to not get dazed, since you can just spec into
Pelle Demoniaca
for the same effect.
Segreto di Sephuz
: Movement speed is bae while leveling. The faster you move the more efficiently you will get from mob to mob, quest to quest, etc.
Prydaz, Magnum Opus di Xavaric
: A decent option but nothing amazing.
Desiderio Ardente di Kil'jaeden
: A great option to have while leveling as it provides you the option to run around and gather a ton of mobs then activate the trinket and pretty much instantly kill all of them.
Anima del Signore del Fatuo
: Not the worst, not the best. If you were planning on swapping around legendaries based on cooldowns/etc. This is an alright option.
Sigillo di Wilfred dell'Evocazione Superiore
: Will continue to be a mainstay legendary while leveling. Having your large cooldown available almost two times as often is amazing.
Feritoia delle Anime
- Throughout all of Legion this has consistently been one of the strongest damage legendaries and that doesn't change when it comes to questing! The extra Soul Shards you'll gain from using this legendary should really help with speeding everything up!
Segreto di Sephuz
- Is also a strong competitor, since Warlocks now baseline has
Furia dell'Ombra
which is also very useful when pulling big packs in dungeons and while questing.
Lealtà del Risvegliatore
/
Lezioni sullo Spazio-Tempo
/
Semina e Raccogli
- Since Artifact Weapons have been removed these 3 spec specific legendaries have all been changed to grant you a 3% damage increase. More damage when leveling is always good.
Desiderio Ardente di Kil'jaeden
- Last, but not least! A 1 min, 15-second cooldown when questing means you'll be able to do very big pulls very often and benefit a lot from this trinket.

Here is an example section below:
Elf and Old God themed leveling zones (from the Void Elf Guide)
Being affiliated with the Alliance, Void Elves don't have access to quests in classic Blood Elf zones like Ghostlands. Instead, we will focus on Elf presence and Twilight's Hammer. The Twilight's Hammer clan is a nihilistic presence across Azeroth that fanatically serves the Old Gods, parasitic gods created to serve the Void Lords.
Before level 60, check out
Entroterre
and
Terre Infette Orientali
for some minor High Elf presence. You can also check out zones with Twilight's Hammer presence like
Loch Modan
,
Millepicchi
, and
Silitus
.
Outland focuses more on Blood Elf lore, especially in zones like
Foresta di Terokk
and
Landa Fatua
. Northrend has a bigger focus on Old God lore, with Twilight's Hammer being present in
Dracombra
, and Old God lore is directly found in
Fiordo Echeggiante
,
Colli Bradi
, and
Cime Tempestose
.
If you want to follow more Old God lore, Cataclysm zones are perfect -
Vashj'ir
,
Rocciafonda
and
Alture del Crepuscolo
are brimming with Old God lore. Pandaria has also some Old God lore with the Shas in all it's zones, with a bigger and more direct presence in
Distese del Terrore
.
Although there isn't much lore on Old Gods and Elves in Draenor, you can learn more about the powers of the Void with the Shadowmoon Clan in
Valle di Torvaluna
.
In Battle for Azeroth, you can see a lot of Old God influences in Stormsong Valley. The lore of the zone focuses a lot on the effects of the Old Gods on the Kul Tiran fleet. Although not directly Old God influenced, Void Elves can also feel at home with the dark vibes of Drustvar and its death magic themed storyline.
