Alto Monte
is one of the new questing zones in Legion, with an emphasis on Tauren lore. A few days ago we did an
initial zone preview with dozens of screenshots
, and today we're looking at some of the interesting quests and areas we discovered.
Kobolds
Kobolds have updated models and they have a special camp in Highmountain. Related quests include:
Metti la cera, togli la cera
,
Candele sulle tombe
,
I cancelli di cera
,
La candela del comando
,
Consumare tutta la candela
,
Reggere la candela
.
These Kobolds are a bit different from the Elwynn ones, here's their backstory:
Kobolds live here long tie. Make home in nooks.
Catch rats. Sometimes eat them.
Dig for treasure. Trade with harpies.
They like shinies, we like wax. Fresh from ears is best.
One day drogbar come in. Say cave is theirs.
They smash and scare. We take candles and hide.
Drogbar big and stupid. They have cave, but no have candle.
Darkness finds them. Darkness follows them.
Darkness swallows them whole!
We come back. We have candles.
Cave ours again. Candles keep us safe.
In the quests
La candela del comando
and
Consumare tutta la candela
you become the quest giver and boss the Kobolds around. For each "quest" you have the option of describing the objective in a grand tone or in Kobold slang. Naturally, the Kobolds do not understand you when you sound like normal questgivers, and will not go on the quest. For example, "Slay the strongest basilisk that roams these caverns and drag its lifeless corpse to my feet!" gets the response "Boss ok? Boss hit head and talk weird?" while "You kill basilisk! Biggest in cave! Bring back!" works.
In talking to Kobolds, you also learn they value those with big ears, because ears are great for candle wax.
Path of Huln Questline
While most of this post covers quirky tidbits, this series is a bit more serious with major lore developments so we're putting it under a spoiler button.
The Path of Huln questline is the final major quest series in Highmountain. In this quest series, you assist
Spiritista Corna Nere
in retracing some of the great battles of Huln Highmountain. First, you go back in time to the War of the Ancients and play as Huln Highmountain. During this quest series, you'll meet Malfurion, defeat Tichondrius, and meet Huln's prized moose Eche'ro which later becomes the archaeology mount
Spirito di Eche'ro
.
Quest Series flashback to War of the Ancients:
Camminando con gli spiriti
La storia di Huln
Guardare al passato
La guerra di Huln: l'arrivo
La guerra di Huln: il preferito di Malorne
La guerra di Huln: Grantempesta
La guerra di Huln: rinforzi
Blessing of Cenarius
La guerra di Huln: Cantombroso
La guerra di Huln: il Nathrezim
After this quest series, you join Brann Bronzebeard and
Spiritista Corna Nere
to retrace Huln's last greatest fight--Deathwing.
Quest Series in Neltharion's Vault:
I segreti di Alto Monte
La sfida ad Alamorte
La sfida ad Alamorte
Scontro titanico
I tesori di Alamorte
La porta di servizio
Il Gran Capo Tribù
Introductory text:
Spiritwalker Ebonhorn: The Path of Huln follows in the footsteps of Huln's last and greatest hunt.
Time-Lost Warbrave: The Skyhorn have tracked the beast to a nearby cave.
Huln Highmountain: Good. He must not be allowed to gather his strength so close to our homeland. We must drive him from his lair.
Brann Brozebeard: I dunno what them tauren were huffin, but these ain't no spirits. These are time echoes. Somethin' bad happened here.
Spiritwalker Ebonhorn: For Huln, the War of the Ancients did not end at the Well of Eternity. With the Legion defeated, he focused on the monster that got away.
Spiritwalker Ebonhorn: Welcome, my friends, to the Vault of Neltharion. Or as the world came to know him: Deathwing.
As the quest series progresses, you learn about Titan Waygates and find past items of Deathwing's. The biggest surprise is that Wrathion throws off his disguise and reveals his reason for bringing you here--he wants help taking Black Dragonflight eggs that predate Deathwing's corruption.
Wrathion also explains his past actions:
For the last time, I didn't kill your Spiritwalker Ebonhorn. I was him the entire time. Your people needed to know the legion was coming.
Look, that incident with Iron Horde was just a misunderstanding. Garrosh was supposed to convice them to fight the Burning Legion, not invade Azeroth.
After escaping the Vault, Wrathion sets up camp with his little crew from Mists of Pandaria at the Obsidian Overlook.
Brann Bronzebeard in the meantime is exploring Deathwing's vault--he's busy doing that in another part of the cave while Wrathion reveals his true form:
Well now, if this ain't the spot I dunna know what is. Looks like back in Deathwing's day he gathered up all sorts of stuff.
Let me know when you are ready and we can see what defenses that old wyrm left in place.
After this series, there is another unfinished series to retrieve
Antro di Neltharion: Morte al Re delle Profondità
, which was stolen by Dargrul the Underking who wants to use it to control Highmountain.
Steamy Romance Novel Marcus
Marcus
, who stars in every
Steamy Romance Novel
, is outside Thunder Totem.
As you walk past a tent, Marcus walks out and expresses bewilderment at what just happened. Inside the tent are two sleeping
Bax Fato Libero
and A Steamy Jewelry Box which contains
Freccia Uncinata di Sylvanas
.
In the tent next to him is
Malzoccolo lo Sciamano Spudorato
, the Used Totem Vendor.
There are new Steamy Romance Novels datamined for Legion but they are not yet complete:
Romanzo Rosa: Hai del Latte?
,
Romanzo Rosa: Ondate di Desiderio
,
Romanzo Rosa: Bondage Elfico
,
Romanzo Rosa: Nobili Oscuri della Morte Vivente
.
Battle Pets, Toys, Vanity Items
Cucciolo di Cornoceleste
is a reward from
Nido vuoto
in Highmountain.
Carboncin
drops from
Tenpak Totem Fiammante
(Flavor Text: Oddly, he was named Crispin even before the incident.) Don't forget, squirrels have adorable updated models in Legion.
Other wild pets include:
Bat:
Pipistrello dal Grugno Porcino
Beaver:
Castoro Codaculea
Crab:
Granchio Canterino Mantocorallino
Foxes:
Cucciolo di Volpe Zampanera
,
Cucciolo di Volpe delle Nebbie
Owl:

Snail:
Chiocciola Pantaguscio
Spiders:

While not a toy,
Fucile Sparanimali
is a reward from
Attacco ai capibranco
. This summons a bunch of scared critters, including a bright purple bunny, that run around.
Zoccolo di Grancorno Maestoso
drops from
Grancorno Maestoso
and allows you to travel 30% faster in Highmountain for 10 min, on a 30 min cooldown.
Sakrul il Birrabrul
in Thunder Totem periodically sells a limited-supply of
Drog Blu
. This turns you blue for 10 minutes. We have also datamined several other types of Drog which grant combat buffs in Highmountain, which may be added later or part of reputation:
Fiasca di Drog
: Increase attack power and reduce chance to hit for 1 min.
Drogzero
: Become light as a feather.
Drog Fatto in Casa
: An extremely potent alcoholic beverage.
Drog "di Stagione"
: A strong alcoholic beverage.
Drog Pesante
: Disorient everyone in a selected area for 5 sec.
In addition, there are several datamined toys from Highmountain:
Frammento di Scheggianera
: Nibble a piece of the crystal.
Aquilone dei Corno Celeste di Piume di Grifalco
: Reduces your falling speed for 1 min. Only useable in Broken Isles.
Peaceful Murlocs
The murlocs have ravaged the shore of Highmountain and
Re Mrgl-Mrgl
, a night elf disguised as a murloc, is back! He's teaching
Fosky
how to be a respectful murloc and treat the environment better than past generations of murlocs. Quests include
Una nuova generazione di Murloc
and
Assalto dei Murloc
.
Also, as you quest in the area, you'll notice that all of the grown-up murlocs have gotten new high-definition models.
The Swamprock murlocs' favorite thing to do is cause shipwrecks with their makeshift lighthouse. Murlocs are fascinating, but these are ruthless.
We must save this coast! I have been raising this young murloc, Murky. We need to help him become stronger so he can teach the tadpoles to be better than their elders.
Murky is doing exquisitely! He and his followers are working and training quite hard. Once they're fully grown, I believe that the Swamprock Tribe will be a successful, budding group of murlocs. Who knows what they'll be able to accomplish! I'm going to stay here to observe. Thank you for all your help.
Treasure Gobin
Over the weekend, BendakWoW found a Treasure Goblin rare in the Broken Marshlands:
Incettatore Drachilingua
is surrounded by glittery effects and the standard + Gold animation seen in Diablo. He is tough to kill now as he's always maximum level. As this is a WoW version of the Diablo Treasure Goblin, the model has some modifications. For example, the Treasure Demon has Illidari horns and has also stolen Kobold candles!
A gold meter pops up showing you how much gold you've collected, and periodically
Monete di Sanctuarium
appear in your bags.
Like standard Diablo Treasure Goblins, if you do not kill them fast enough, they will run away and disappear through a portal!
Prepfoot Doomsday Camp
In northeastern Highmountain lies the Prepfoot camp, a group of Tauren wearing
Cappello da Pesca di Lunacupa
because they think it will protect them from an imminent flood. They view Deathwing as the primary threat to Azeroth, not the Burning Legion. Supplies are hoarded everywhere and they all have funny diaogue options:
I will protect us from whatever monstrosities lie under the sea!
Sure, you may think our hats look silly, but they will help us adapt to the flooding of the world quickly.
Trand is an inspiration. He's strong willed, a good leader, and he cares about others. When he had the vision of Deathwing's return, he didn't just run off by himself. He told us, his peers, and called us to follow him if we wanted to live. I've known many a shaman in my life, but Trand really knows how to... ride the lightning, so to speak.
Have you checked the storehouse up the hill? We've been trying to gather all the good bits we can find. Things that will last. You know: Bananas, milk... that sort of thing. I think we're doing a good job!
When Trand started spreading news of Deathwing's coming, my family did not want to follow. My heart told me to stay with them, but my body... I want to live, rogue. There is no shame in that.
Trand Piede Saldo
explains how his movement got started:
Wanderer! Have you come to save your soul? It will soon be upon us! The second coming! Deathwing is returning, and Azeroth will be destroyed. We must be prepared for the ocean to swallow the world!
Deathwing? You mean the Burning Legion
The Burning Legion? Hah! They are naught by a sign. Listen to my sermon.
... Okay?
And so I declare, Deathwing has not been defeated. He lays in wait for Azeroth's distraction. Soon he will return, flying over the world and spreading his destruction. Surely, you may think, the Alliance and Horde will take him down with their great airships. But his body will cause the earth to shake, and the oceans will rise up to swallow us all. But the Prepfoot..we know! We have seen the future and will prepare until the time comes. We shall survive...nay, thrive!
Stonedark Grotto
The Stonedarks have a very bro culture inside their lair. You can go up to
Cosobrul
and give him a fistbump, and complete the quest
Sollevi, Brul?
.
Trescarul
,
Boprul
, and
Tonfarul
are smashing various rocks and creating music. You can join in and hit the various rocks to add your own sounds--there are nine rocks/sounds total.
There's also an Undertale reference--a finishing line with four snails lined up.
