2014 Children's Week Guide (April 28 - May 5)
Semaine des enfants
is a week in which we brave a challenge greater than any undead monstrosity and a task more daunting than saving the world. We must become parents for all those orphans throughout Azeroth and make sure they are happy. We can't tank a child's fears, we can't heal its memories of pain, nor can we DPS the sorrow out of them. So equip your toys, make a mage conjure a candy table, fill your quiver with joy, load your gun with something colorful, and venture into the World of Parenting!
Children's Week
begins on
April 28th
at
11:01 AM
(server time) and ends on
May 5th
at
11:00 AM
.
Due to the advent of Cataclysm,
Children's Week
was changed in 2011 to have two new pets and redone locations for the initial tier of quests.
There's nothing new in 2014, but since all vanity pets are now battle pets in Mists of Pandaria, you might be more interested in collecting pets this expansion! Since battle pets are also account-wide, you can collect different sets of pets on your alts to round out your collection faster.

Patch 5.4.8 PTR: New Seasonal Events, Cosmetic Tab Added to In-Game Shop, Heroes Rocket Mount
This morning we datamined a new 5.4.8 PTR build and the servers were briefly up for us to grab some pictures! Read on for a summary of the datamined changes and PTR additions.
Like recent PTRs, this build appeared fairly small with vanity items and shop additions to make up for a lack of spell changes. However, these changes should make players very happy--new seasonal world events with collectible items are on the PTR! The in-game shop also continues to grow with the addition of a
Cosmetic
tab--Warlocks, move over, Mages can get green fire now too.
Finally, while we primarily focus on WoW-related news, we've been including cool tidbits from
Heroes of the Storm
. The Wowhead Rocket was spotted as a new buyable mount on the Heroes alpha--news definitely worth sharing, even if it's not tied to WoW!
Oh, and by the way, APRIL FOOL'S!
Edit: Blizzard just published a preview of 6.0 patch notes--
or skip to the end of the blog! Of particulate note: Proving Ground rating of Gold will be required to post on the forums in Warlords of Draenor.

Editorial: Holiday Updates in Mists of Pandaria
Wowhead Editorials
We've been wanting to try out editorials on Wowhead for a while, and we're excited to publish our first one today! If you like it, we'll consider doing more.
Holiday Updates
As our guide comments show, Wowhead users feel passionate about holidays, so the timing seemed right to talk about why holiday updates are important, especially in light of the lack of updates in Mists of Pandaria.
Players are always so excited by new holiday vanity items, but regret that there's not more to do in Mists of Pandaria. Between account-wide changes letting people finish holidays faster and the lack of updates, big or small, players long for excitement associated with past holidays.
There would have been so many opportunities for holiday development in MoP too--like Pandaren-themed Brewfest content, or even a completely new holiday, as we joked about on April Fools with
Earth Week
and the Angler's Deep Sea Dive[/u

5.3 PTR Preview: Earth Day, Doritos Locos Sponsorship, Auras, and More!
There are some major changes coming to World of Warcraft from the latest PTR patch. There's some really exciting stuff, including a new holiday and auras that will allow you to cosmetically alter your character to varying degrees. Both Perculia and I have been hard at work on the PTR getting screenshots of these changes and uncovering the latest details.

Celebrated by both the Horde and the Alliance, the Brewfest is a time to enjoy the fermented fruits of the harvest: pretzels, cheese, and booze! The competing breweries Thunderbrew, Barleybrew, and the Ogres, all come together outside of all the major cities in a bid to outdo each other with their special ales, meads, and beers. Brave adventurers are invited to sit back, take a pull, and sample the finest wares these brewers have to offer!
During Brewfest, players can acquire the title

Happy New Year's Eve
Just a quick reminder that New Year's Eve is today and World of Warcraft has its usual celebration going down in Booty Bay! Make sure to check it out if you like fireworks and want to ring in 2012 in-game.
Merry New Year! The celebration begins at 6:00 a.m. Realm-Time December 31 with fireworks in the skies above the cities, and repeats every hour on the hour. Feel free to sample some of the exotic brews and libations carted in from around the world, and dance in celebration as a new year dawns. If you're on a PvP realm you're cautioned to steer clear of Booty Bay (or potentially visit with haste) as the guards there appear to have had too much fun already and aren't likely to be enforcing the town rules until morning.

The

While overall the holiday has few rewards and is an extremely minor world event, any change of scenery is a good thing--especially one that leads right up to Brewfest!
Festival Foods
Festive tables full with food can be found outside of Orgrimmar and Ironforge, from which players can have their fill of food and drink as they celebrate the memory of their faction's fallen champions. You can hold up to 20 of each of these foods, and they do not expire, so they make great meals for alts!

datamined on the PTR, it’s time to give tabards another look. If this goes live, it appears that for this year’s anniversary you can transform the appearance of your tabard, possibly into ones you’ve previously obtained. And even if this goes the way of the dance studio, it’s still a good time to brush up on available tabard options with the new achievement
Trente tabards
in patch 4.1.
This guide is organized by tabards that were introduced in each expansion as well as the means for obtaining them. When changing factions, many tabards will convert accordingly as we’ve noted below. Also, if you destroy some tabards (PvP, BC reputation, select achievement rewards), they can be obtained again from
Tabard Vendors
in major cities. Some rare tabards cannot be replaced and we’ve noted them as such. Other common tabards for Wrath/Cataclysm are cheap and you can simply buy them back for a few silver from their respective quartermasters.
