Back when 7.3 datamining started, we discovered many new whispers from our favorite dagger,
Xal'atath, lame de l'Empire noir
. Now, with the release of
Antorus, le Trône ardent
, we learned more context about what the sometimes vague whispers are referring to.

Brise-monde garothi
and
Imonar le Chasseur d'âmes
Xal'atath
Imagine this machinery infused with our power. Interesting...
Xal'atath reflects on the weaponry shown by the Legion on their main stronghold, both
Brise-monde garothi
and
Imonar le Chasseur d'âmes
display impressive feats of engineering that, with the end of the Burning Crusade, might be stolen to become part of the arsenal from the Void Lords in their campaign to corrupt Azeroth in the future.
The Coven of Shivarra
Xal'atath
These pretenders play at whispering madness. Amateurs! I should demonstrate proper technique.
Xal'atath gets irritated by the torture methods used by The Coven of Shivarra to torment the souls from the dead Titans. It seems to imply that they are using similar tactics used by Void entities, but in a more amateur way.
Varimathras
Xal'atath
What a disappointment. He squandered his potential by backing the wrong side.
The first thing that may come to mind with this quote is
Varimathras
and
Grand apothicaire Putrescin
betrayal against
Dame Sylvanas Coursevent
, revealed on the now removed quest
La bataille pour Fossoyeuse
. However, it likely doesn't refer to that. On World of Warcraft: Chronicle, Volume I, we learned that the Void Lords once had, or still have, Nathrezim as part of their forces, as Sargeras, before befriending demons, interrogates a group of Nathrezim which end up revealing the true objective from the Void Lord.
All Nathrezim shown in recent history, however, seem to be aligned with Sargeras, thus an enemy from the Void Lords, "backing the wrong side".
Aggramar
Xal'atath
This one would make an excellent champion for our cause. Perhaps he can yet be turned.
Another quote referencing the devious plan from the Void Lords to corrupt the Titans. Xal'atath observes how they could still turn
Aggramar
into their weapon of destruction, even in the zombie-esque state he currently is.
Argus l'Annihilateur
Xal'atath
Long have we sought entry into this realm! To think we have a mortal to thank for giving us our foothold. Your service will be remembered!
This quote happens while the player is in the Seat of the Pantheon, the main base of operation from the Titans. As she says herself the Void long have sought to enter the realm of the Titans and now, while racing to stop Sargeras, we have brought one of them into it. Could Xal'atath have dropped any corruption in the middle of the fight against
Argus l'Annihilateur
that could be of use later? Or is she just trying to scare us? Only the future will tell...
Future
As we now know, we will ultimately use our Artifact weapons to hold the corruption from Sargeras' sword in the Wound of the World. Which is ok for 33 of the 36 artifact weapons, however
Aluneth
,
Crâne du Man'ari
, and
Xal'atath, lame de l'Empire noir
have sentience and could be dangerous to be entrusted with such power, specially the latter two. Maybe those three Artifacts will have different endings to their tales?
Personally, the only outcome that I really expect from the end of the Artifacts is that it won't be the last time we will have Xal'atath in the spotlight. And, next time, we might not be in the same side.
What do you think will happen with her in the future? We will likely have more quotes in Patch 7.3.5, specially around the Wound in the World. Let us know what do you think will happen in the comments bellow!
