New Features
Burning of Teldrassil and Battle for Undercity
Players will be able to experience the Burning of Teldrassil storyline during the Pre-Patch event and will be split up among several weeks. Completing the storyline will award each faction with one mount:
Rênes de chauve-souris pestiférée de Fossoyeuse
and
Rênes fumantes d’hippogriffe de Teldrassil
.
The Battle for Lordaeron, the Alliance's retaliation for Teldrassil, is only available to players who
purchase
Battle for Azeroth. Those who purchase BFA can access this content one week before the launch of BFA. No specific date has been announced, but August 7th is a likely bet.
Loot Distribution
Starting with Battle for Azeroth,
Personal Loot
is the default method of Loot Distribution. In addition, Master Loot has been removed from the game.
Raid Mounts from Mythic Gul'dan or Mythic Argus
currently
work as follows on Live servers with Personal Loot distribution. This may change in the pre-patch:
The Raid Mount is given to a
random
member of the raid who does not already have the mount.
With the Mythic Gul'dan mount (
Noyau de flammes dévorantes
), you can trade it with PL. However, this currently does
NOT
work with the Argus mount (
Ur'zul entravé
). For guilds who are selling the Argus mount, it's important to make sure that every person in the raid already owns the mount.
In addition, a new mode called
Legacy Loot Mode
has been added to old content. After a change in Patch 7.3.5,
Battle for Azeroth will return
loot troves in old dungeons and raids to the way they previous were for Transmog hunters.
The number of items dropped by bosses will be the same as if you were in a full party.
Flexible raid sizes will act if there were 20 players.
All items on the loot table can drop, not just ones designated for your spec.
War Mode
War Mode is a new system of World PvP added in Battle for Azeroth that you can only toggle in Orgrimmar or Stormwind. If turned on:
In the open world, you will only see players that also have War Mode turned on.
You get 10% increased experince and currencies (Honor, Gold, Resources, AP).
You get to use your PvP Talents in the Open World
For more information, check out our
War Mode Guide
.
Guild UI and Communities
The guild UI has received a revamp which displays information with a lot more detail -- it even saves logs of your guild chat, so that you can see what was said last time. A brand new feature called Communities have been added where you can invite friends and have a social chat with them in-game.
For more information, check out our
Guild and Communities UI article

Class Changes
Artifacts
Find out more about all the Artifact updates by clicking here!
In the Pre-Patch,
all artifact traits
will be disabled including those from the Netherlight Crucible. However, a relic's item level bonus will still apply so you'll just want the highest item level relic you can find.
Many of these traits are reused in the Battle for Azeroth Pre-Patch as core abilities or talents and you can find out more in our
Artifact Traits Returning in Battle for Azeroth Guide
.
Artifact Appearances can now be transmogged on top of any weapon, but they are still spec specific. You'll find the option in the Transmog window.
Artifact Skins that required specific Prestige Levels now require Honor Levels instead. You'll receive one PvP tint at
Niveau d’honneur 10
,
Niveau d’honneur 30
,
Niveau d’honneur 50
,
Niveau d’honneur 80
.
Druids will be able to transmog their special Artifact forms through a new option in the dropdown menu called "Artifact Pair"
Class Raid Buffs and Class Dispel Utility
Some familiar Class Raid Buffs and increased Class Utility are making a return in Battle for Azeroth.
First are
Primary Stat Buffs
which can be buffed by
Mage
,
Prêtre
and
Guerrier
Mage
:
Intelligence des Arcanes
- Infuses the target with brilliance, increasing their Intellect by 10% for 1 hour. If target is in your party or raid, all party and raid members will be affected.
Prêtre
:
Mot de pouvoir : Robustesse
- Infuses the target with vitality, increasing their Stamina by 10% for 1 hour. If the target is in your party or raid, all party and raid members will be affected.
Guerrier
:
Cri de guerre
- Increases the Strength and Agility of all raid and party members within 100 yards by 10% for 1 hour.
Second are
Damage Modifier Debuffs
placed on enemies brought by
Moine
and
Chasseur de démons
Moine
:
Toucher mystique
- Your damage weakens the target, increasing Physical damage taken by 5%.
Chasseur de démons
:
Marque du chaos
- Your Chaos/Fire damage brands the target, increasing magic damage taken by 5%.
Lastly some additional
Dispel and Purge Utility is being added
. These are more important in Battle for Azeroth with the increased diversity of debuff types.
Chasseur de démons
have
Manavore
as a Magic Purge joining Mage, Priest, Shaman and Warlock (Felhunter).
Mage
have
Délivrance de la malédiction
back as a Curse Removal joining Druid and Shaman.
Chasseur
and
Druide
have regained the ability to Dispel Enrage effects using
Apaiser
and
Hunter Pets
respectively.
Poisons can still be dispelled by Druid, Monk and Paladin.
Diseases can still be dispelled by Monk, Paladin and Priest.
Class Systems Changes
Many class systems have changed in Battle for Azeroth. We've listed them below, with links to articles which will go more in depth.
Individual buttons for Druid travel forms
.
Each individual Druid travel form now has its own passive ability, meaning druids can glyph different forms for each of their travel forms.
The majority of class cooldowns have been added to the GCD
.
Abilities that are in the Global Cooldown, or GCD, cannot be used at the same time, meaning you must wait for the default GCD, 1.5s reduced by haste, until you can use your next ability.
Before BfA, many abilities were called "off-GCD" as you could two or more of them at the same time, even in the same button macro. For BfA, Blizzard started to reduce to amount of abilities in this state.
All melee abilities now scale with both Attack Power and Weapon Damage
.
The actual ability damage formula for all non-casters has changed, and now all those abilities use both weapon damage and attack power, even abilities like
Heurt de bouclier
or
Rafale hurlante
.
This appears to be intended to create a better balance between classes, rather than some favoring weapons heavily (
Guerrier
), while others hardly at all (
Moine
).
Bleed and Poison ticks now scale with Haste
.
Bleeds and poisons from
Druide
,
Voleur
, and
Guerrier
were the only over time effects not affected by haste, which is being changed in Battle for Azeroth.
Hunter pets have set specializations, which offer different types of utility, and several pet families have changed specs
.
Hunter pets are receiving an overhaul in BfA to improve their utility and streamline their usability.
Battle for Azeroth has a huge stat and ilvl squish.
Battle for Azeroth implements the second stat squish for World of Warcraft, two expansions after the
Warlords of Draenor Squish
.
Unlike Warlords, Battle for Azeroth will also have an item level squish, changing the item level previously found on classic items as well.
Tank Threat has been massively reduced
Battle for Azeroth reduces the Threat of all tank specializations by ~75% from it's Legion counterparts.
PvP Talents are available in the Open World if War Mode is turned on.
With the new War Mode feature, PvP talents can be used while questing.

Profession Updates
Find out more about all the Profession updates by clicking here!
Professions are receiving changes to skill caps in the Battle for Azeroth pre-expansion patch. Instead of having to level from 1 through 800, leveling professions will be split into skill tiers per expansion.
In the past few expansions, Blizzard has tried to experiment with profession catch-up mechanisms to aid players so they do not have to grind through hundreds of skill ranks just to craft expansion-appropriate recipes. With this new system, now players can focus on leveling professions for a certain expansion.
Classic goes up to 300
Outland, Northrend, Catalcysm, Pandaria goes up to 75
Draenor and Legion goes up to 100
Kul Tiras and Zandalar goes up to 150
PvP Updates
Find out more about all the Honor updates by clicking here!
The Prestige system is being removed and new Honor Levels have been added. Honor Levels are now
account-wide
and all Honor earned on any character in Legion will be converted to the new system. ZigiPrestige has
released an addon
that tell you your approximate Honor Level in Battle for Azeroth by adding up all the Honor on your account.
If you don't get a certain prestige reward before the Pre-Patch, it'll likely become harder in the 8.0 Pre-Patch!
