Hello @everyone,
I am writing this as there was a lot of backlash over my recent “article” on the state of Vengeance. I wanted to take a moment to apologize to everyone on how it short it was. I have been working on the guides that I write and lost track of time. I hastily wrote the article, so I will take full responsibility for its failure. I was also attempting to not put “fluff” in, which this kind of thing ends up turning into, though in my haste and mindset of this, I ended up putting in slightly too little information.
I would like to note some additions I would have liked to include in the original piece.
The overall rotation is similar yet, different. You will still cast Fracture in order to cast Spirit Bomb. The main differences however are that now, you will be casting Soul Cleave to dump pain (generally immediately after a Spirit Bomb cast) and you will be using Throw Glaive as filler whenever you have a “dead gcd”.
Yes you lose the ability to press Shear, which makes it “seem” vastly different, including the fact that Fracture generates pain and is on charges. This is very similar to the old style of requiring pain to cast, though you won’t have the intense amounts of damage intake while being able to cast Fracture freely.
So as far as the rotation goes, it is very similar, with the only “major” difference being you cast Soul Cleave after Spirit Bomb and Cast Throw Glaive for fillers. We also lost Fiery Demise baseline (which was turned into a talent, more on this later), which reduces the skill cap as I stated in the article, and gets rid of any big “burst” Vengeance had.
So for the second bit, the Talent changes.
Fiery Demise was made into Charred Flesh and replaced Fel Eruption. Fueled by Pain was made into Gluttony.
Charred Flesh is a nerfed version of Fiery Demise, that is also on a row with Fire damage. It is extremely weak and will never be taken.
Gluttony replaced Blade Turning, though is still the same as Fueled by Pain in Legion. It is a random proc chance on a generally weak cooldown with a low uptime, all of which combined make this a terrible talent that will never see actual play.
As for the last row, Soul Barrier was changed to lose its “minimum shield”, which makes the buff disappear if the shield hits 0.
We also gained a new talent in the form of Void Reaver, which replaced Demonic Infusion. This is a talent that is usable for maximizing damage mitigation, but in actual play, it will be worse than Last Resort and Soul Barrier. Last Resort is a cheat death that can save a wipe, and Soul Barrier helps with Magic damage as well as giving you an extra minor cooldown every 30 seconds.
So there we go. Most of an extra page added too it. As you can see, the new talents are mediocre at best, but generally terrible. The rotation doesn’t change much, with only 2 “real” changes in the form of abilities casted purely for filler and to burn resources. I apologize that none of this was actually in the article, as it should have been. So I take full responsibility for my failure.
If you want to see all of this info and more, feel free to check out my Vengeance guide.
